Urban Martial Saint

Zhao Chengshuang did not expect Zhou Jianbin to come straight to the point and hurriedly said, ”Uncle Zhou, what are you doing?”

”As a bodyguard, he failed to protect his employer and even watched as his employer was kidnapped right in front of him. That is the greatest dereliction of duty,” Zhou Jianbin said coldly as he scrutinized Ye Qing. ”Most bodyguards would never be so negligent, so I have reason to suspect that he is in league with the kidnappers. He is one of the planners of this hostage-taking!”

”How is that possible?” Zhao Chengshuang shook his head repeatedly, ”Little Leaf is not that kind of person, he risked his life to save my aunt. But those kidnappers were too cunning; they used anesthetic guns, and Little Leaf was powerless. It’s already commendable that he managed to save Hua Yu.”

”Hmph, the Ruthless Bandits used anesthetic guns, and yet he could still protect Hua Yu for so long?” Zhou Jianbin looked coldly at Ye Qing and said sternly, ”Explain to me how you managed to do that.”

How could Ye Qing explain such a thing, he obviously couldn’t tell him about the Acupoint Seeking Technique. Not to mention whether Acupoint Seeking Technique could be disclosed, the key issue was that Zhou Jianbin would never believe it anyway. The concept of Acupoint Pressing has always been thought to be a fabrication in martial arts novels.

Unless experienced personally, how many would believe it to be true?

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Uncle Zhou, the hospital has already made an assessment of the anesthetic gun. According to the doctor’s findings, after being hit by the anesthetic gun, Little Leaf’s leg suffered a heavy blow, leading to blocked blood vessels, which prevented the anesthetic from spreading through his entire body. That’s why he managed to hold on and save Hua Yu.”

”What heavy blow and what blocked blood vessels, what on earth are these findings?” Zhou Jianbin waved his hand impatiently and said, ”Enough with the explanations, arrest him and we’ll investigate further!”

Zhou Jianbin’s men charged toward Ye Qing aggressively. Zhao Chengshuang, knowing Zhou Jianbin’s temperament and that he couldn’t persuade him, hurriedly shouted, ”Uncle Zhou, it was my cousin who asked Ye Qing to help find my aunt!”

Zhou Jianbin’s brow furrowed slightly as he gestured for his men to hold back. If Ye Qing had been authorized to be here by Lin Zhen Nan, arresting him at this moment would be going directly against Lin Zhen Nan. He was proud but not so much as to dare to oppose Lin Zhen Nan.

”Since President Lin trusts you, I’ll also give you a chance. However, I will investigate this matter thoroughly. If I find any suspicion on you, I will personally arrest you!” Zhou Jianbin said with a cold gaze at Ye Qing, his voice grave, ”Xiao Wu, take a team to the hospital to collect evidence, including Ye Qing’s medical report.

While you’re at it, investigate the doctor who conducted his examination!”

”Yes!”

A police officer responded and stepped out as Zhou Jianbin stared coldly at Ye Qing and said word by word, ”Don’t let me find out you harmed Yashi, or I will never let you off!”

After finishing, Zhou Jianbin turned and walked over to the Lin family members. The Lin family members were not ready to let Ye Qing off, but Zhou Jianbin stopped them.

A young man glanced sideways at Ye Qing and sneered, ”Uncle Zhou, I really don’t understand why you would let someone with such serious suspicions assist in finding our aunt. He couldn’t even protect her when she was right in front of him, how can we expect him to find her?”

”Don’t bother with him!” Zhou Jianbin said proudly, ”I already have the approval from the bureau to lead the case myself. With or without this person, it doesn’t make much difference. Rest assured, with me here, we will definitely rescue Yashi within seventy-two hours!”

The Lin family members immediately became joyful, giving their support to Zhou Jianbin as they left. As Zhao Chengshuang watched Zhou Jianbin walk away, he couldn’t help but curse under his breath, ”Damn, seventy-two hours, who knows what will happen to my aunt during that time?”

After speaking, Zhao Chengshuang looked at Ye Qing and said anxiously, ”Little Ye, my aunt is a good person, you have to help me save her quickly this time!”

Compared to Zhou Jianbin, Zhao Chengshuang trusted Ye Qing more, as he had witnessed Ye Qing’s abilities last time.

”Where is the man in black that I caught last?” Ye Qing asked in a deep voice.

Zhao Chengshuang replied, ”He is currently under interrogation, and we haven’t got his testimony yet. However, the statements from the ones who stopped you before are already out, do you want to take a look?”

”No need,” Ye Qing answered succinctly.

”Why?” Zhao Chengshuang was surprised, as every suspect’s testimony was critical—why did Ye Qing only care about the man in black he caught last?

Ye Qing said, ”Those people before were deliberately arranged by the kidnappers to stop me at the hospital. To put it plainly, the kidnappers sent them as cannon fodder. If they could stop me for a while, that was their purpose—their mouths contain no important information. In fact, they didn’t even know what they were doing.”

Zhao Chengshuang looked at Ye Qing in astonishment and took a long time before giving a thumbs up, saying, ”Damn, you’re spot on. We interrogated them for half a day, and not a single one had any valuable information to disclose. They only knew that someone paid them to do this, targeting you specifically, and as long as they delayed you, that was enough. But who paid them, they had no idea.

Even these people, goddamn it, were temporarily brought in from out of town, and we couldn’t track anything from them!”

”Right, among these people, there were actually four professional assassins,” Zhao Chengshuang paused, looking at Ye Qing, ”The two personal bodyguards of Hua Yu were killed by these four professional assassins. Two of them pretended to be patients, while the other two disguised themselves as passersby.

When Hua Yu and his group walked by, the two ’patients’ pretended to stumble and bump into Hua Yu’s side. The two bodyguards immediately stepped in front of Hua Yu, only to get grabbed by the ’patients’ while the other two ’passersby’ launched a sneak attack from behind. The bodyguards of Hua Yu were quite strong, but they were unexpectedly attacked and ended up losing their lives.

The coordination between these four assassins was seamless. How did you realize they were not really patients?”

Ye Qing said, ”They were wearing additional clothes under their patient gowns.”

”Oh?” Zhao Chengshuang scratched his head, ”What’s wrong with wearing other clothes? Even patients need to wear something underneath, right?”

”It’s not underwear; it was casual clothing,” Ye Qing shook his head, ”They were pretending to have leg injuries, but their clothing underneath the patient gowns was very neat. In fact, take yourself as an example. If your leg was injured, would it be convenient for you to put on trousers?”

”Don’t even mention it, now I can barely lift my legs, putting on trousers is torture!” Zhao Chengshuang said indignantly, ”If I didn’t have to go out on errands, I really wouldn’t want to change clothes. Changing clothes is like peeling off a layer of skin.”

”That’s my point,” Ye Qing shrugged, ”If they were wearing patient gowns, why would they need to wear trousers underneath? Isn’t that very unusual?”

”Now that you mention it, it does seem to be the case,” Zhao Chengshuang nodded, ”You’re very observant. Ah, if only Hua Yu’s bodyguards had been as observant, things wouldn’t have turned out this way!”

As a Special Forces soldier who had seen combat, Ye Qing understood that any small detail could be a matter of life or death. So, in any environment, he would go to great lengths to observe his surroundings, committing every detail about the people and terrain to memory. It had become his habit. On the battlefield, being constantly vigilant was the only way to ensure one’s survival.

Zhou Jianbin arrived, and the interrogation of all these people was handed over to him. Even Zhao Chengshuang couldn’t approach the black-clothed man that Ye Qing had caught last at this point. Thus, Ye Qing and Zhao Chengshuang could only wait outside, awaiting Zhou Jianbin’s departure before they could interrogate the black-clothed man.

After waiting for over two hours, Zhou Jianbin finally left with his team. Zhao Chengshuang immediately took Ye Qing to find the black-clothed man, only to be stopped by the guards at the entrance of the detention room.

”Sorry, Director Zhou said that without his permission, no one is allowed to see these kidnappers!” The guard was one of Zhou Jianbin’s men, and his attitude was extremely uncompromising.

”What do you mean no one can see them?” Zhao Chengshuang glared, ”Don’t you recognize me? I’m Zhao Chengshuang, captain of the criminal investigation team at the West City Sub-bureau, and I’m well acquainted with Director Zhou. Moreover, the kidnapped hostage is my maternal aunt, I must get some information!”

”I know who you are!” The policeman was just as firm: ”But without Director Zhou’s orders, you cannot go in.”

”Damn it, why not?” Zhao Chengshuang immediately flew into a rage, ”My team caught these kidnappers. Why can’t I see them?”

The policeman said, ”The municipal bureau has transferred the entire case to Director Zhou, who is now fully in charge. We are now responsible for these kidnappers!”

”Go to hell, are you asking for a beating?” Zhao Chengshuang raged, infuriated by the man’s attitude.

The policeman remained unyielding, ”Captain Zhao, you are a policeman. You should understand that an order must be followed as if it were a mountain!”

Zhao Chengshuang howled in anger, so furious he wanted to hit someone, but luckily, Ye Qing quickly pulled his wheelchair away in time.

”Damn it, Zhou Jianbin’s subordinates are just like him. Stubborn and arrogant, full of themselves!” Zhao Chengshuang cursed indignantly, ”The kidnapped hostage is my maternal aunt. What right does he have to prevent me from entering? We are all police officers. What’s he trying to do with this stunt? Could it be that he thinks I would harm my own aunt?”

Ye Qing shook his head, ”He’s not guarding against you, but against me.”

Zhao Chengshuang glanced at Ye Qing, ”It’s not a matter of who he is guarding against. The point is he’s really not giving me any respect!”

Ye Qing fell silent for a moment, then asked, ”Is it possible to find out the identity of that man in black?”

Zhao Chengshuang replied, ”We can do that, but will it be of any use?”

”Let’s get it and see,” Ye Qing looked at his watch with a grave tone, ”Your aunt has been abducted for nearly four hours now. We must rescue her as soon as possible. The longer we delay, the greater the risk!”
