Urban Martial Saint

A group of police officers helped the disabled people and children onto the ambulances, but there clearly weren’t enough ambulances, so they gave up their police cars as well. Even then, they had to send these people to the hospital in batches.

Several female officers volunteered to stay behind to take care of the children. These children, one by one, were pale and thin, and their frail appearance was heart-wrenching.

”Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, you’re all safe now, no one will bully you anymore!” a female officer softly comforted a five or six-year-old girl, who was covered in dirt but still, the officer hugged her tightly with compassion.

The little girl curled up in the female officer’s arms, as if it had been a long time since she had felt such warmth, clinging tightly to the officer’s clothes, not daring to let go for fear that letting go would mean the officer would leave.

A few officers were collecting evidence in every room, and one of them brought out some moldy food from the kitchen and threw it behind him, cursing, ”These people are so lazy, they don’t even clean up spoiled stuff.”

The moldy food happened to be thrown towards the door where a sharp-eyed child immediately pounced on it like a starving tiger, picking up the moldy bun and devouring it.

Several other children saw this and hurried over. The little girl held by the female officer also immediately let go and struggled out of the officer’s arms to join the scramble for the buns.

”What are you doing? What are you doing?” the female officer hurriedly chased after them, and seeing the little girl stuffing a green-mold-covered bun into her mouth, she quickly took the bun away, urgently saying, ”Don’t eat that, it’s spoiled, you’ll get sick, none of you should eat this!”

The little girl looked pitifully at the moldy bun in the policewoman’s hand, her eyes brimming with tears as she weakly said, ”Auntie, I’m hungry...”

Instantly, tears welled up in the policewoman’s eyes as she saw these children wolfing down the moldy buns, and she could almost imagine what kind of life these kids must have been living.

”Wait a moment, auntie will take you to eat something delicious, and you’ll eat your fill!” the policewoman walked over, took the buns out of the children’s hands and said, ”Everyone stop eating, in a little while aunty will get you something much better. This food is bad and eating it will make you sick!”

The group of children looked at her uncomprehendingly, more focused on the buns in her hand. In times of hunger, even a moldy bun was the best thing in the world to them.

With tears held back, the policewoman gathered up all the moldy food, preventing the children from eating any more. Several other female officers also came over to disperse the children, and the policewoman who had been holding the girl immediately took out her phone, asking her colleagues to bring some food when they came.

Ye Qing hadn’t left; he was hiding in a big tree about twenty meters across from these two houses. Seeing that the disabled people and children were rescued, he finally breathed a sigh of relief. He was hiding here to protect these people secretly.

If Zhao Chengshuang’s people hadn’t arrived in time, he would have had to fight directly against Boss Lin’s men, determined to prevent them from harming these people any further.

Luckily, Zhao Chengshuang’s men arrived in time. Seeing the female officers taking careful care of the children, Ye Qing finally felt at ease. With these people in the hands of Zhao Chengshuang’s men, they would definitely be safe.

Ye Qing climbed down from the tree and walked along the path to the roadside, waiting for a truck. He climbed onto the back of the truck and hitched a ride into the city.

Meanwhile, Boss Lin hurriedly left the area with his men. Although this location was one of Boss Lin’s storage sites, he seldom came here, and the place was not registered in his name. As long as none of his men survived, there was absolutely no way to trace him.

And those four survivors were taken by Boss Lin. Thus, Boss Lin was not worried that anything at the site could be traced back to him. After all, with those twenty or so men dead, the trail would end with them.

The convoy drove over thirty miles and stopped in a secluded grove. Boss Lin got out of the car, and the four survivors were also brought out. After some rudimentary bandaging, their wounds had stopped bleeding, but without timely medical attention, it was still dangerous, particularly for Old Han, who had lost two legs and one hand, looking terribly pale.

”Boss, should we take them to the hospital first?” a subordinate whispered.

Boss Lin’s expression was grim, and he ignored him, instead turning to the four men and saying sternly, ”How much did we lose?”

The four men looked at each other, none daring to respond.

”Old Jiu, you tell me!” Boss Lin pointed at Brother Jiu and shouted.

Brother Jiu shivered with fear, and stammered, ”About… about one hundred thousand worth of goods...”

”One hundred thousand! One hundred thousand!” Boss Lin ground his teeth and said, ”I bought that site for two hundred thousand, and after today’s events, that place is done for. Plus this one hundred thousand of goods, and the livestock, worth at least another hundred thousand. I’ve lost nearly four hundred thousand in one night. Can someone explain to me, why? Why the hell did this happen?”

Everyone held their heads down, no one dared to answer Boss Lin’s question. It was clear that Boss Lin was furious, and nobody wanted to cross him at such a time.

After a long while, Boss Lin finally took a few deep breaths and said in a deep voice, ”My stash is hidden well, who can tell me how Ye Qing found this place?”

The four men just now looked at each other, fell into slight silence for a moment, and then Old Han coughed and said in a low voice, ”Tonight... tonight Li came by, he just left, and then... then this Ye showed up...”

”You mean Scarface?” Boss Lin furrowed his brows, aware of Scarface’s visit to pick up goods. However, he hadn’t yet connected the two events. Now, hearing his subordinate say this, he suddenly became vigilant.

Old Han nodded and said, ”When Li arrived, I felt something was off, the dog in the yard wouldn’t stop barking, I couldn’t even stop it. Logically speaking, Li has come many times before, and the dogs wouldn’t bark at him like this. I felt something was fishy right then, and just after Li left, this Ye... just appeared...”

”Yeah, Li hasn’t come to pick up goods recently, and nothing unexpected had occurred. How come he suddenly needed to pick up goods tonight, and then this happened. This... this matter is a bit odd,” Old Jiu also added in a low voice nearby.

Boss Lin’s brows were tightly knitted, he remained silent for a good while, then suddenly waved his hand and bellowed, ”Damn, chop these two bastards up!”

”What?” Old Han and Old Jiu were both shocked. Old Jiu struggled to move a few steps towards Boss Lin and pleaded anxiously, ”Eldest brother, what... what did I do wrong? Why would you kill me?”

”What did you do wrong?” Boss Lin glanced at him and said, ”You couldn’t even protect my goods, yet you dare frame your own brother. Scarface has been with me for many years, do you think I don’t know what kind of person he is? You two bastards, conspiring to frame my brother, do you think I would keep you?”

With a wave of his hand from Boss Lin, several men immediately came and took Old Han and Old Jiu away.

”Eldest brother, eldest brother, I... I didn’t frame Li, I was just telling the truth, it indeed happened like this tonight...”

”Eldest brother, I did my best, that Ye Qing is too difficult to deal with, it’s not my fault...”

Boss Lin completely ignored them. Several underlings went over, swung their cleavers and chopped the two men into the bloodwater.

”Eldest brother, spare me, I... I won’t dare anymore...” Old Jiu cried out loudly, he never thought that after saving his life once, he would end up losing it here.

”Enough, stop yelling!” Old Han bit his teeth, his eyes blood-red, and said in a low voice, ”Boss Lin wants to kill us, not because we framed Scarface, but because he wants to make sure there are no witnesses. We are of no use anymore, staying alive would only make him worry about his affairs getting exposed, so he’s not going to let us live...”

As Old Han spoke, he looked up at Boss Lin and said, ”Eldest brother, I’ve also followed you for five years, I never thought it would end this way. You’re really ruthless, haha...”

After Old Han spoke, his head gradually drooped. He had already been severely injured, and now after being hacked several times, he finally couldn’t hold on anymore.

”Boss Lin, may you damn well not die a good death!” Old Jiu shouted loudly, he also couldn’t last much longer, and soon like Old Han, he too was hacked to death in the bloodwater. Until the moment of death, he finally understood the last words of Ye Qing.

Yes, although Ye Qing spared his life, in the end, he couldn’t survive. The one who killed him, was unexpectedly his own boss. How ironic was that?

Ye Qing saw the reality very clearly, only they hadn’t seen it. Until the moment of their death, they finally understood, but it was all too late!

Boss Lin completely ignored the two men, spoke a few words to the underling next to him, and took most of his men in the car and left.

Seven people remained in the small grove, including the two who had narrowly escaped death before. Watching Old Han and Old Jiu lying in the bloodwater, the two were shaking all over with fear. Especially what Old Han and Old Jiu had said at the end made them wonder if it was going to be their turn next.

The seven people took care of the bodies of Old Han and Old Jiu. A leader picked a rope, approached behind the two men, and suddenly strangled one of them with the rope.

”Cough cough...” The man’s eyes rolled back as he was being strangled, desperately reaching out to grab, but to no avail.

”What are you doing? What are you doing? What are you doing?” The other man screamed loudly, seeing the few people coming towards him with bad intentions, his legs went weak, his voice trembling as he said, ”Brothers, we... we are all our own people...”

No one listened to him, they came up and flipped him onto the ground, then picked up a nearby rock and smashed it hard against his head.

After several hits, the man’s body gradually went limp. His face covered in bloodwater, his eyes filled with resentment and anger, he gritted his teeth and said, ”Boss Lin, you... you are so despicable...”
