The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 899: Chapter 899: Daya’s Friend

Daya didn’t have many friends before she was married. Although she got along well with several girls from the same village, her family had a lot of chores, and she was kept busy every day, only managing to meet with them during holidays and festivals.

As time went by, naturally, they drifted apart.

Latterly, as they all reached marriageable age, each of them got married and were scattered in different places, resulting in even fewer chances to see each other.

Moreover, Daya had nearly no opportunity to go out during her two years in the Zhang family. She rarely visited her parents’ home, let alone others’ homes.

So, Daya was actually quite lonely, having no one besides her family to confide in and talk to.

After the scandal of Zhang Shu and Zhou Jian being caught in adultery and empathizing as fellow victims, even being among the first in Jiangyuan County to divorce, Daya and Wei Lan naturally became close.

Sharing similar misfortunes, with Daya’s gentle nature and Wei Lan’s forthright personality, the two, one calm and the other lively, unexpectedly became good friends.

Having returned from the southwest, Daya naturally brought back some local specialties for Wei Lan.

Although Shu Yu knew Wei Lan first, her relationship with her was not as close as Daya’s.

Now that Daya has found a good friend and enjoys a harmonious family life, with Zhao Xi watching over her from behind, her days are bound to get better and better.

Feeling joy for her, Shu Yu smiled, greeted the old lady, and left the house with the gift box for Doctor Xu.

Upon returning to the entrance of Liufang Alley, she saw only Zhao Xi standing there; Manager Qiu was nowhere to be found.

Seeing him, Shu Yu greeted, ”Thank you.”

Zhao Xi smiled, ”No need, I just came over upon hearing some noise. It was just Yun accompanying Dahu to buy things, otherwise I wouldn’t have had the chance to play the hero to a damsel in distress.”

Shu Yu was surprised, ”You’ve been paying attention to the entrance of the alley all this time?”

Zhao Xi coughed lightly, why was she always so good at catching the key points? ”I saw Daya go out.”

Realization dawned on Shu Yu, ”Oh, waiting for my sister, right?”

Zhao Xi turned and left. Shu Yu snickered to herself, feeling delighted in her heart; having someone who cared so much for her sister was always a good thing.

With Manager Qiu no longer in the way, Shu Yu’s walk became smoother.

Manager Xu’s medical clinic was the same as always, with hardly any customers, but it hadn’t closed down due to its high fees.

When Shu Yu entered, she even saw the counter and medicine cabinet looking brand new.

Tsk, not only has the place not closed down, but it seems to have been quite affluent to have been renovated?

”Ah, Monarch Lu, Lu, Monarch Lu Xiang.” The staff, seeing her, was so shocked that his eyes nearly popped out.

”It seems you’ve also seen the notice at the city gate, right? Where’s Doctor Xu?”

”In the back courtyard, I’ll go call him right away,” said the staff, ready to run to the back.

Shu Yu stopped him, ”No need, I’ll go find him.”

She moved to go with the gift box but asked uncertainly, ”He isn’t with a patient right now, is he?”

”No, not at all.” Even if there were, they would have to attend to you first.

Hearing this, Shu Yu was reassured and headed to the back courtyard. Soon after, the staff could hear Doctor Xu’s hearty laughter coming from the rear.

He shook his head and went on with his work.

Meanwhile, Doctor Xu in the back courtyard eyed Shu Yu for a while, very excitedly saying, ”I always felt you were someone who’d make something of yourself, otherwise you couldn’t have made something as great as the scar removal cream. But I didn’t expect you to be even more capable than I thought; going from being exiled to becoming a Village Chief, what would you call that? A blessing in disguise, that’s what.”

Shu Yu covered her forehead, ”You’re exaggerating too much.”
