The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 855: Chapter 855 Sister-in-law Zhou Qiao

Shu Yu nodded, ”It’s a long story, I’ll explain later. Where’s Brother Daniu?”

Zhou Qiao replied hastily, ”He went to the cloth shop to get supplies.” As she spoke, she furrowed her brows, muttering to herself, ”According to the time, he should have been back by now.”

She turned to the two and said, ”He’s probably been delayed by something. Come in and take a seat first, I’ll pour you some water. I reckon he’ll be back shortly if we wait a bit longer.”

Getting supplies?

Shu Yu remembered that earlier on, in the courtyard of Liufang Alley, she indeed noticed that the fabric stocks in the sewing room were running low.

”Since he went to get supplies, he’ll probably take the fabrics directly to Liufang Alley later. Sister-in-law, let’s close up early today, go pick up Brother Daniu at the cloth shop, and head straight to Liufang Alley for dinner. Grandmother will surely be delighted to see you.”

”Ah? We’re going to Liufang Alley now?” Zhou Qiao suddenly became anxious. Having married into the Lu family, she had met the parents-in-law, Third Uncle, and Fourth Aunt, but she had yet to formally meet Grandmother and the Second Uncle and Aunt. Now, to meet several elders all at once, her heart immediately started pounding.

Shu Yu had never experienced the situation of getting married and meeting the other family’s parents, so she didn’t understand Zhou Qiao’s anxiousness.

”What’s wrong?”

”No, nothing. Just, wait for me a moment, I will change clothes and join you.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”No rush, I’ve already ordered wines and dishes at the restaurant. Sister-in-law, go ahead and change, I don’t even know if they’re ready yet, I’ll go over there first and wait for you.”

”Alright.”

Zhou Qiao, on the other hand, breathed a sigh of relief. After seeing Shu Yu and Daya leave the shop, she hastily closed the door and went to the back courtyard to change her clothes.

This left the two shopkeepers from the neighboring shop, who saw Shu Yu appear and wanted to come over to inquire, no chance to do so.

Shu Yu went back to the restaurant, where she saw the shopkeeper first this time.

The restaurant was indeed quick at cooking; the food boxes she ordered had already been prepared.

Upon asking, the shopkeeper lifted his head from behind the counter and was about to smile and say, ”They are ready. The plates for serving food are a bit big, so I used three food boxes for you...”

His words stopped abruptly, the shopkeeper’s face full of shock as he looked at her, then rubbed his eyes.

After making sure he had not seen wrong, he took a gasp of air, ”Lu Sanzhu?”

”Shopkeeper recognizes me?”

Of course he recognized her. Their restaurant was not far from Yiren Pavilion, and when there had been a disturbance during the opening of their shop, officers came, and he too had come to watch the excitement.

But, but...

”You’re back?”

Shu Yu raised an eyebrow, ”Yes, I just got back. Since I didn’t make it in time to cook, I came here to buy some wines and dishes. These three food boxes are mine, right?”

The shopkeeper nodded his head frantically, ”Yes, yes, yes, I heard from the staff that you have a mule carriage. I’ll have someone carry it to your carriage.”

”Thank you very much then.”

”No, no need.” The shopkeeper quickly called for his staff to get busy.

He watched Shu Yu, standing at the doorway, seemingly wanting to say something but hesitating. Shu Yu pretended not to see. If the shopkeeper didn’t ask, she was not about to inexplicably explain that she had been released without guilt, right?

Of course, even if he did ask, she might not have explained anyway.

While the staff were getting the food boxes ready, the shopkeeper still couldn’t find the right angle to ask her.

Shu Yu simply climbed onto the carriage, and just in time, Zhou Qiao also arrived.

Only, when she came, she had not only changed into a new outfit but was also carrying something in her hand.
