The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 865: Chapter 865 Zhou Qiao Worries

Daniu immediately turned over to face her and asked with concern, ”What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

”No, I’m not feeling unwell.”

”Then why are you frowning? Are you unhappy that Erniu’s family came back?”

Zhou Qiao suddenly sat up, ”Of course I’m happy, I can’t wait for their return. It’s just that, just that...”

”Just what? Is there something you can’t tell me?” Daniu also sat up.

Zhou Qiao pursed her lips, slightly turned her face, and said softly, ”I’m afraid if I say it, you will feel uncomfortable. ”

”No, just tell me, I’m listening.”

Only then did Zhou Qiao take a deep breath and whispered, ”I was just thinking, now that Erniu’s family is back, the shop will be managed by his wife from now on. Does that mean we have to go back to Shangshi Village?”

As she spoke, her fingers nervously fidgeted.

Zhou Qiao never intended to hold onto the shop forever; it wasn’t hers in the first place, she was just looking after it temporarily.

She also wasn’t afraid of returning to the village to farm; she had been brought up that way and was used to it.

However, returning to the village meant having to live at home and get along with her mother-in-law.

Previously, she didn’t know Madam Li well, only hearing that she was a decent person, always gentle and cordial with outsiders.

Without her own mother, she had hoped that after getting married, she would treat Madam Li as her own mother and take care of her.

But after getting married, she realized she had been too naive.

Daniu was great, and his father was kind to her. Lanhua was a beauty-loving girl with her own little schemes sometimes, but she was easy to talk to and respected Zhou Qiao. Erniu was lively and went to private school, so they didn’t interact much.

Every family has its quirks, but they were still willing to adjust to each other.

Only the mother-in-law was different, sweet in front but bitter at heart. In front of outsiders, she treated her wonderfully, but at home, she dumped all the chores on her. Any slight dissatisfaction would lead to endless nit-picking. Behind the scenes, she always wanted Zhou Qiao’s wedding headdress and the dowry money.

Zhou Qiao was genuinely afraid of her mother-in-law, thankfully Daniu brought her to the county town to manage the shop together.

Even so, the mother-in-law was not very pleased, saying that as a daughter-in-law, she should stay at home to serve her parents-in-law, and not run off to the county town to enjoy herself.

It was only when her sister-in-law returned to her parental home and mentioned that Daniu married late and others his age already had two children, and wondered when the mother-in-law could hold a grandchild if the couple was separated?

Only then did the mother-in-law reluctantly agree, allowing her to follow Daniu to the county town.

But the mother-in-law was still unwilling to let go and insisted on coming too, saying it was to take care of the couple’s daily life.

But Daniu refused. There was only one room in the shop, where would the mother-in-law stay?

The mother-in-law thought to stay at Mrs. Xiang’s place in Liufang Alley, but Daniu still disagreed. Mrs. Xiang’s house was used for making clothes, and there wasn’t much space to live in.

Besides, if the mother-in-law came to the county town, what about their home? Erniu was studying, Lanhua was preparing for marriage, and the father-in-law was busy all day in the fields, they needed a woman of the house.

Just thinking about having to deal every day with her mother-in-law upon returning to the village made Zhou Qiao feel suffocated.

After being married to her for half a year, Daniu could more or less guess her thoughts. He reached out and held her restless hands, whispering, ”Don’t worry, I’m here. Although we definitely have to return the shop to Erniu, I can go grow sunflowers.”

”Is it that kind of big yellow flower growing in the yard that looks like a basin?”
