The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 860: Chapter 860: Young Master Meng’s Illness is Cured

Brother Daniu thought about it and realized it was true. Now that Yu has returned, what was there for him to worry about?

However...

”You and Grandmother entrusted the shop to me, and not only did I fail to improve it, but I actually held it back. I knew the other party was causing trouble yet had no way to deal with them.”

”That can’t be blamed on you. You took over in an emergency without any experience, so simply keeping the shop going is already commendable. How old is that Manager Qiu? Not to mention you, but most people would be at a disadvantage dealing with him.”

Speaking of that, she was actually quite surprised that Manager Qiu agreed to compensate so readily; she couldn’t fathom what was going on in his mind at the time.

”Brother Daniu, don’t be disheartened. This is a valuable experience. Practice more and you’ll get familiar with it. No one is born knowing how to do business. With more experiences like this, you’ll get used to it.”

To have more experiences like this??

The corners of Daniu’s mouth twitched. He wasn’t keen on encountering these sorts of situations or people.

But all of that is no longer important; what matters most now is that Yu has come back.

This was indeed a joyous occasion, and Daniu spoke with a hint of excitement, ”After the second letter was sent, I was wondering why we hadn’t received a reply, concerned it might have been lost in transit. But now it looks like you had already set out on your return.”

”Yes, Brother Daniu. Father said since we were coming back anyway, there was no need to send letters; we might arrive before the letters would.” Daya popped her head out and said.

Daniu nodded, ”Indeed, and besides, some things are not easy to write about in letters.”

Shu Yu thought about how Brother Daniu’s letters were always about the good news, never the worries.

While they were talking, the carriage entered Liufang Alley.

Arriving at the Meng family’s gate, Shu Yu paused. Daniu asked, puzzled, ”What’s wrong?”

”Father and Dahu are going to stay at Young Master Meng’s place for the night, I should let them know,” she said.

Daniu was surprised, ”Young Master Meng is back as well?”

”Yes, it just so happened that Young Master Meng and his companion also went to the southwest to seek medical treatment, and we met up and returned together.”

During the days Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi were not in Jiangyuan County, they had always claimed to be out seeking medical help. After all, from outsiders’ perspectives, one was mute and the other mad, so going wherever they hear of a skilled doctor was normal.

Their journey this time lasted over eight months, so going such a distance was not surprising at all.

Daniu had no suspicions and simply asked with concern, ”Then, did they cure their illnesses?”

”They did.”

They had all agreed upon this story. Now, Meng Yunzheng was teaching Dahu how to read, while Zhao Xi was teaching Sanya medical skills, so continuing to pretend to be ill or crazy was no longer appropriate.

It was also at this time that she learned these two had come to Jiangyuan County pretending to be ill, and it was not just to help Xiang Weinan gather evidence against the former county magistrate and prepare to take down the Shu family.

It was also because... Meng Yunzheng was of a marriageable age, and Gong Qiu of the Gong Family had the idea of arranging a strategic marriage.

Although Meng Yunzheng’s behavior at the Gong family appeared dull and clumsy, he had an outstanding appearance that astonished everyone. Coupled with the powerful backing of his family, people were willing to overlook his status as the son born outside the main marriage and desire to marry him.

Conveniently, Gong Qiu was also interested in a strategic marriage with a certain influential duke’s family, and the two families had secretly agreed upon it.

However, Meng Yunzheng was not happy. Why should he become a pawn in Gong Qiu’s hands, adding bricks to the latter’s ambitions?

Therefore, after Gong Qiu approached him with this matter, he agreed on the surface but turned around and disclosed it to that Madam, the main wife of Gong Qiu.
