The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 857: Chapter 857: Daniu Encounters Differential Treatment

Daniu’s eyes widened in excitement, ”Really? You, you’ve been released to come back already!?”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Yes, it was quite complicated. Let’s go home and I’ll tell you all about it slowly.”

”Right, right, right, home. Let’s go back now. This is so sudden, let’s go...” He was halfway through speaking when he suddenly remembered the fabric behind him, and he slapped his forehead, ”Look at me, I almost forgot these pieces of cloth.”

While talking, Daniu turned his head.

Shu Yu followed his gaze and also noticed the stacks of fabric placed to the side, immediately frowning, ”Brother Daniu, what’s going on here? Are these the fabrics you were supposed to get today?”

”Yes.”

”Why are they left at the entrance of the cloth shop? I remember the cloth shop should have helped us haul them back.”

Daniu’s expression complicated for a moment, he said in a low voice, ”The cloth shop said they were busy today, all their carts were out, and since I didn’t buy a lot, they asked me to bring it back myself.”

But even if it wasn’t much, there were still seven or eight rolls of fabric; he couldn’t possibly carry it all back on his back, could he?

Moreover, some of the fabric was of high quality; if they were to be accidentally torn in transit, the loss would be far from trivial.

Daniu argued with the shopkeeper, who was very polite in response, but insisted that there were no carts available for delivery, apologizing profusely without solving the problem.

Daniu, just a young man who had only been a shopkeeper for a few months after coming out from the village, was no match for the wily and shrewd shopkeeper.

He could only rent a cart himself, but there were no suitable rental services in this area, so he would have to leave his fabric in the care of the cloth shop’s staff. But the staff, citing their own busyness, refused to look after them.

Daniu was just about to give a few copper coins to the people next door to ask for help renting a cart when Shu Yu and her party arrived.

Shu Yu narrowed her eyes upon hearing this. The attitude of everyone in the cloth shop, from the shopkeeper to the staff, had changed drastically.

She roughly guessed the reason, ”Did this start happening from a certain time? After they learned I was banished?”

Daniu, ”...”

He quickly shook his head, ”Not exactly, actually since our ready-to-wear clothes shop started ordering less and our fabrics became cheaper, they’ve changed quite a bit.”

Ever since Yu and Daya had left, the clothes sold at the ready-to-wear clothes shop catered towards the common people and were priced lower.

As such, the fabrics they ordered naturally differed as well.

From that time, the attitude of the staff and the shopkeeper of the cloth shop began to subtly change.

Daniu had thought of switching to another cloth distributor early on. Yet, the other party had only been impatient in their tone, they didn’t breach the contract, they still delivered the goods, and were straightforward when Daniu wanted to order; the price and quality of the fabric had not changed. For him to switch distributors without cause would have appeared unreasonable.

Who would have known that after Yu was rumored to be exiled, this cloth shop would even become reluctant to deliver?

Shu Yu understood, ”Brother Daniu, please wait here for a moment.”

She walked calmly with purposeful strides into the cloth shop.

The shopkeeper of the cloth shop was behind the counter, turning a deaf ear to the events outside, only focusing on his ledger and abacus.

It wasn’t until Shu Yu stood in front of him that he frowned and looked up.

His expression changed drastically the next moment, ”You, Boss Lu? How did you come back?”

Shu Yu smirked coldly, ”Sorry, does my presence here make you uncomfortable?”

The shopkeeper hastily replied with a smile, ”No, no, not at all. What are you saying, Boss Lu? It’s just that I heard Boss Lu went to the southwest and your sudden return surprised me.”
