The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 898: Chapter 898: Manager Qiu’s Regret

Shu Yu brought a gift for Doctor Xu as well, originally planning to give it to him tomorrow.

She alighted from the carriage at the entrance of Liufang Alley and let the Ding family’s coachman go back, then leisurely walked towards home.

Just as she turned around and had only walked a few steps, someone suddenly darted out in front of her.

Shu Yu took several steps back reflexively, and upon closer inspection, she realized that the person before her was an acquaintance, ”Manager Qiu?”

She frowned, ”What are you doing here? Are you looking for me for something?”

Manager Qiu let out a nervous chuckle, ”Lu Sanzhu—oh, no, you should be addressed as Monarch Lu Xiang now. You see, if you had just explained before, I wouldn’t have misunderstood.”

Shu Yu found it amusing, ”Why must I explain myself to you?”

Manager Qiu’s expression became slightly rigid; he had been waiting in Liufang Alley for quite some time. Earlier, when he didn’t find anyone at the shop and the ready-to-wear clothes shop was closed, he had no choice but to run to Liufang Alley’s clothing workshop.

Xiang and her daughter were clearly aware of his dissolution of contract with Yiren Pavilion and promptly closed the door on him the moment they saw him.

It was only from other neighbors in Liufang Alley that he learned the Lu family had gone out early in the morning, but no one knew where they went.

Manager Qiu could only wait at the entrance to the alley, and eventually, the Lu family did return, but neither Lu Shuyu nor Lu Daniu were among them.

He simply had to keep lurking around here, and only now had he finally managed to catch the person he was waiting for.

Remembering what the boss had said before leaving, Manager Qiu could only force a smile, bowing very low, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, I was blind not to recognize a great person before me, the words I said before upset you, please don’t take them to heart. Regarding our two shops’ cooperative matters, could we discuss it again? Of course, the purchasing price would naturally be lower than before, as the mistake was on us.”

Shu Yu shook her head before he could finish, ”There’s no need. Since the contract has been terminated, we should have nothing to do with each other from now on. The most important aspect of business is integrity. If we agreed not to cooperate, then we should not cooperate, and I can’t go back on my word just because you offer a lower price, can I?”

Manager Qiu’s smile was almost unsustainable, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, please reconsider, I can give you a good purchasing price. Our shop is after all the biggest cloth shop in Jiangyuan County, the fabrics we have are all top-notch.”

”No need to consider, no cooperation, I don’t want to lack integrity, goodbye.”

Shu Yu didn’t want to waste time with him and tried to walk past him directly.

Manager Qiu instinctively reached out to stop her, but Shu Yu avoided him, ”What, Manager Qiu, you want to use force now?”

”No, I wouldn’t dare.”

He awkwardly retracted his hand, and only then did Shu Yu stride towards Liufang Alley.

Manager Qiu naturally refused to give up, but Shu Yu ignored him, even when he tried to step forward to continue stopping her, suddenly someone else stood in his way.

Manager Qiu was startled, and so was Shu Yu, who turned her head to see it was Zhao Xi.

Zhao Xi gave her a cheeky grin, ”You go ahead and return home, I’ll handle things here.”

Shu Yu truly left it to him and went straight home.

There were only the old lady and a few children at home, and other people were over at the clothing workshop.

Shu Yu went to get the gift boxes, only to discover that two were missing. Quickly counting them, she had a notion, ”Did sister go to see Miss Wei?”

The old lady nodded, ”There are many hands at the clothing workshop, and it’s a bit crowded. Since your sister has come back, of course, she would go to see her.”

Wei Lan is the same as Daya, the girl who was deceived into marriage.
