The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 856: Chapter 856: Siblings Reunited

Daya approached with curiosity and asked, ”What is this?”

Zhou Qiao felt embarrassed, ”This is the first time I’m meeting Grandmother and Uncle and Aunt, and I was in a rush without time to prepare anything, so I just bought some pastries and fruit from the neighboring store.”

Shu Yu suddenly remembered, and realized she had forgotten about this.

Since Sister-in-law had bought them, she was straightforward and asked people to load them onto the carriage first.

As Zhou Qiao walked by her side, Shu Yu noticed the hairpin she was wearing on her head.

Is this... the jewelry from the headdress set that I gave her when she married Daniu?

Zhou Qiao also noticed her gaze, touched her hair, and said with a smile, ”This was given by Sister Yu. The county magistrate had it delivered on the day of my wedding. I like it very much and usually can’t bear to wear it, but today, I couldn’t help taking it out since I was going to meet Grandmother and Uncle and Aunt. Thank you, sister.”

Shu Yu could see that Zhou Qiao cherished the headdress very much; the hairpins still looked brand new.

”I’m glad Sister-in-law likes it,” Shu Yu said, ”I’ve never met Sister-in-law before, but Brother Daniu has told me a lot about you. He said Sister-in-law is gentle and generous, beautiful and intelligent, and he described your appearance to me. Based on what Brother Daniu said, I picked out this style for the set of headdress, and now it seems to suit you really well.”

Zhou Qiao did not expect her to be so thoughtful; a headdress is not something you give away lightly, no wonder she liked it from first sight.

Then she recalled what she had just said about Daniu praising her, words like gentle, generous, beautiful and intelligent which he never said before her face, such flattering words that could make one’s heart flutter and cheeks blush.

Zhou Qiao felt embarrassed and said softly, ”You’ve gone to a lot of effort, sister.”

Shu Yu and Daya exchanged glances and let out a suppressed chuckle.

The carriage headed towards the biggest cloth shop in the county town, luckily the distance was not too far.

What the three of them did not expect was that they would actually see Daniu at the entrance of the cloth shop looking frustrated and upset.

Shu Yu was startled for a moment, then grabbed the reins and got down from the mule carriage.

”Brother Daniu.”

Daniu was stunned when he heard the familiar voice; he questioned if he was hallucinating, otherwise how could he be hearing Yu’s voice who was far away in the southwest?

Then the owner of the voice walked up to him, as Shu Yu waved her hand in front of him.

”Brother Daniu?”

”Ah, Ah, Ah Yu!!” Daniu cried out in shock, his voice causing everyone inside the cloth shop to hear.

Annoyed, the shop staff immediately came out, waving and saying, ”Why hasn’t Shopkeeper Lu left yet? You’re blocking our business standing at the entrance, and with your outburst, do you want to scare away our customers?”

The impolite tone made Shu Yu frown, and she lifted her gaze to look at the staff member.

This staff member must be new, as he looked unfamiliar to her, and she had not seen him before.

But what kind of attitude was that? Their ready-to-wear clothes shop had a cooperative relationship with the cloth shop, and to be driven away while standing at the shopfront?

Shu Yu was about to coldly confront him.

However, Daniu in front of her had not heard a word the staff member said; his mind was entirely occupied with whether or not the Yu in front of him was real.

Once he confirmed it was real, he asked with even greater shock, ”Yu, how did you come back? When did you return?”

Shu Yu could only answer him first, ”I have just come back. Grandmother and the others are in Liufang Alley, I came to fetch you for dinner. Don’t worry, I am fine, I was released and returned for my meritorious service.”
