The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 851: Chapter 851: Giving Brother Daniu a Surprise

However, they had long since returned the yard they originally rented in Liufang Alley of the county town.

There is only one room in the backyard of the ready-to-wear clothes shop, which is now occupied by Brother Daniu and his wife.

Meng Yunzheng’s house has not been returned yet; he had paid a full year’s rent upfront when he first rented it. Although it has been unoccupied for a long time, the place is still there and just needs a bit of tidying up to be habitable.

It would be inappropriate for Shu Yu and the other ladies to stay at his house, but Lu Erbai and Dahu could rest there.

There is another yard in Liufang Alley, which the Lu family had rented for storing clothes. Currently, only Xiang and Fu Xiangdi lived there. Since it is close to the Meng family, the Lu family women decided to squeeze in there for one night.

As for Lu Sanzhu and Lu Sixing, their accommodations in the county town were too far away, and they were too lazy to go there this late.

The Lu family had rushed the whole day and finally arrived home. The first thing to do was to quickly make space in the house.

Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi took Lu Erbai and Dahu back to the Meng family’s place, while Shu Yu and the others knocked on the door of Xiang’s clothing yard.

”Who is it?”

Xiang’s voice came from a distance, followed by the gate opening.

The people inside looked up, and upon seeing the old lady and Madam Ruan at the forefront, they were so surprised that their jaws almost dropped.

”You, you...”

”Sister Xiang, we are back,” Madam Ruan said with a smile, ”We’ve just entered the town, and we will stay here tonight and move on tomorrow.”

Xiang suddenly snapped back to reality. Even though she had many questions, she knew it was not the time to ask. She quickly stepped aside to let everyone in.

”Quick, quick, come in.”

When she saw Shu Yu at the end of the group, she was even more astonished, her eyes widening in shock.

But she did not ask further, instead turning her head and shouting into the house, ”Xiangdi, Xiangdi, hurry and fetch some water, the boss is back.”

A figure hurriedly ran out from inside; both Xiang and Fu Xiangdi had improved their lives in the past half a year, they looked much more vibrant than before, with rosy cheeks and fuller figures.

The group entered the yard, and the once quiet space instantly became lively.

Xiang poured hot water for everyone, and upon learning that they had not yet eaten, she hurried to prepare a meal.

However, the food supplies at home were not plentiful, so Xiang intended to go out to buy some.

She was stopped by Shu Yu as she was heading out, ”Mrs. Xiang, my sister and I will go to a restaurant and buy some dishes to bring back. It will save you from cooking.”

Seeing this, Xiang did not insist, ”Well, alright then, I’ll go tidy up the rooms and boil some hot water. You should eat and rest early after you return.”

”Alright.”

Shu Yu and Daya left and passed by the Meng family’s place on their way, informing Meng Yunzheng and the others as well.

Meng Yunzheng originally wanted to go with them, but there was a lot to tidy up at home, and it wouldn’t be right to let Lu Erbai and Dahu do all the work while he snuck away.

Shu Yu told them to stay, and she went off with Daya.

The mule carriage was still parked outside; they were not tired.

A nearby restaurant with good hygiene and flavor was located on Ningshui Street.

The one Shu Yu visited was conveniently located not far from their own ready-to-wear clothes shop. Upon entering, she immediately ordered seven or eight dishes from the staff and asked them to be packed in a food box to take away later.

While waiting for the restaurant to prepare the dishes, Shu Yu thought to visit the ready-to-wear clothes shop.

And... to give Brother Daniu a surprise.

After leaving the money for the food, the sisters left the restaurant.

However, the staff at the restaurant held the pieces of silver in hand, staring dazedly at their departing figures, rubbing his eyes vigorously and blinking.
