The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 882: Chapter 882: Tomb Sweeping on the Mountain

Madam Li was eager to show her dedication, so naturally, she agreed without any hesitation.

After all, the second branch of the family was wealthy at the moment, so the grain they bought must have been plentiful. Everyone would just have a meal at home, and the rest would still be left for them, wouldn’t it?

The old lady glanced sideways at Madam Li, quite unimpressed by her.

She then instructed Madam Liang and Lu Sixing, ”You two should also go and help out. My second son and his family will head up to the mountains first.”

After the family discussed and settled their plans, and seeing that time was getting late, they prepared to set out.

Apart from the old lady and the second branch of the family, Brother Daniu and Lu Dasong also accompanied them.

Lu Sanzhu did not want to climb the mountain, as he found it exhausting. Not long ago during the Qingming festival, he had just offered incense to his late father and had even burned a lot of paper money because of his increased wages. He believed his filial piety must have been felt by his late father.

However, he did not want to miss the opportunity to get closer to Shu Yu, so he sighed and followed them after all.

The path up the mountain was difficult to tread. Shu Yu and Brother Daniu supported the old lady from the left and the right, carefully watching out for undergrowth in case any snake or insect might emerge.

Shu Yu had been there once before. After recognizing her ancestors and returning to her clan, she had visited the graves of her deceased grandfather and ancestors.

The path was even tougher the last time, as it had just rained, and the old lady nearly slipped and fell.

It is said that those who return to their hometowns bedecked in wealth and honor would refurbish their old homes and ancestral graves.

Shu Yu was not lacking in money now, and the tomb of the old master was indeed a bit simple. She thought that now that they had a large house to live in, the old master and ancestors deserved an improved living environment as well.

Walking on the mountain path now, this idea grew even stronger in her mind.

Once they reached the mountain summit and found the old master’s grave, the old lady led by kneeling down and offering incense.

The descendants behind her knelt down one by one, respectfully kowtowing.

It seemed that the first and third branches of the family had just visited not long ago, and the area around the grave was quite clean, with only a few short weeds that seemed to have just sprouted.

While burning paper money, the old lady muttered to herself. Last time, she became so emotional and overwhelmed when she had brought Shu Yu that she nearly collapsed in tears.

Today, however, she looked delightfully proud, bragging boastfully, ”Old man, our Yu has become the Village Chief. Isn’t that a great honor for our ancestors? You can walk with your head held high and chest out. Our family’s days are going to get better and better. It’s just a pity you departed early and couldn’t enjoy the fortune. But no matter, I will frequently offer incense and burn paper money for you. This time, I’ve bought a lot of ingots to burn for you, so you can indulge in the pleasures of wealth too.”

After the old lady spoke, she beckoned Shu Yu to come forward.

Once the family finished burning paper money for the old master, they went on to offer incense to the nearby ancestors. Once the fires were all extinguished, they then descended the mountain to return home.

The old lady was in good spirits and walked quite steadily on the way down the mountain. When they reached the foot of the mountain, she didn’t need any help and led the way at the front on her own.

Shu Yu was a few steps behind when Brother Daniu slowly walked up beside her.

”What is it, Brother Daniu?”

”Yu, I was thinking that now you’re back, we should return the shop to you. When you have time, I’ll show you the accounts, and you can take a look and take over the shop again. Qiaoqiao and I will first pack up our things and move back.”

As they walked, Shu Yu shook her head, ”There’s no rush. That shop still needs Brother Daniu’s help for a while longer. Later, discuss the accounts directly with my eldest sister. In the future, she will likely be the shopkeeper.”

Daniu was surprised, ”But what about Uncle...?”
