The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 884: Chapter 884: The Second Elder Still Knows the Capital Officials

Along the way, they encountered many villagers, all of whom raised their hands to greet them, but perhaps influenced by Fan Zhong’s earlier remarks, no one dared to come forward and stop them to chat.

In this way, the Lu family felt much more at ease.

Madam Li had already prepared the meals, and Yuan Shanchuan even borrowed two large tables from next door to place in the courtyard, making the big house’s yard packed to the brim.

This time the Lu family gathering was quite rare with many people, except for Cuihua who was married and living elsewhere, almost everyone else was present.

Fan Zhong also had his son come over, bringing lots of fresh vegetables, making the dishes on the table quite lavish, almost like during the New Year.

At the dining table, people like Lu Dasong were very curious about the second branch family’s life in the southwest; Lu Erbai picked the parts he could talk about, which astonished everyone continually.

The old lady laughed at their lack of experience, ”What’s so surprising about that? The second brother in the southwest met a craftsman and became good friends with him. Guess who that is?”

She didn’t mention Qi Chan, not knowing whether they would keep in touch in the future, so she left it out.

”Who? Grandmother, why are you keeping us in suspense, just tell us.”

The old lady slightly proud, said, ”Well, that person was a former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry, do you know what rank of official the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry is? A fifth-rank official, even more powerful than our county magistrate. But he was a Capital Official, climbing up to the fifth rank is already quite impressive.”

”Then why isn’t he in the capital, what is he doing in the southwest?” Lu Sanzhu asked.

The old lady sighed, ”Five years ago, he was exiled to the southwest.”

”Ah?” Everyone was immediately disappointed.

The old lady glanced at them sideways and snorted coldly, ”What ’ah’? He has now returned to the capital, reinstated to his former position, and even received favor from the emperor.”

”Really?” Everyone’s eyes widened again.

”It’s true, Lord Yao said it himself, the second brother is his good friend, and if he encounters any trouble in the future, he can just go to her. Whatever help he can offer, he will. Before leaving, he also left his address for the second brother and those blueprints he had worked on over the years. Speaking of which, the second brother’s skills were guided and approved by the former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry.”

Everyone was amazed again, never expecting their own second brother to have had such a fascinating experience.

Shu Yu asked Daniu quietly, ”Has grandmother been drinking?”

Daniu nodded, ”Yes, she has had a bit, but she’s happy today, a little drink doesn’t matter. You don’t know, but grandma’s tolerance used to be pretty good.”

”What if she gets too drunk later and feels sick?”

Daniu, ”Don’t worry, Fourth Aunt is sitting next to her, she won’t let her continue drinking.”

The daughters-in-law can’t control her, but as a daughter, Fourth Aunt can still persuade her.

After the meal, an hour had passed, and the dishes had completely cooled.

Shu Yu helped the old lady to rest in the room, while Lu Erbai and Lu Dasong headed to the village chief’s house.

The others either rested or chatted, creating a lively atmosphere.

Shu Yu hadn’t heard anyone mention this before, neither Daniu nor Third Uncle had spoken about it in front of her. Hence, she only found out now about Erniu being expelled from school and Lanhua’s engagement being broken off.

She had not expected the exile incident to have such a big impact on both of them.

Madam Liang seemed unconcerned, waving her hand, ”According to me, this is a good thing. The teacher at Erniu’s private school was both cowardly and pedantic; following him, you surely wouldn’t have learned much of value. It’s better he left. You should go to the private school where my Dabao studies, that teacher is knowledgeable and not as pretentious. When I first heard of this, I told Dabao not to worry, just to focus on his studies.”
