My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1797: Chapter 1591: Freedom

Once, I thought of giving up all my freedom, as long as I could be with him, taking him to fulfill all my dreams.

Ran Zhihan listened to the words spoken by her husband, and her heart ached as if being cut by a knife. She felt as if she was about to suffocate, yet she forcibly held back her tears, knowing she couldn’t let them flow freely like before; it would only make the man in front of her despise her. How could she be so cowardly, just to be seen by others, making herself unable to lift her head and step resolutely forward, always being viewed as insignificant in her man’s eyes.

Ran Zhihan thought about it the entire night. In the end, she felt that she should understand her husband better. He always believed she was with him for money and benefits, which raised the question of why she continued to endure such grievances. Words had already been spoken, yet she never changed into the person he portrayed her as. Why should she foolishly guard him for a lifetime without achieving any results?

She left a letter to her husband, planning to leave this home. She could no longer continue living here; every person in this family made her feel guilt and shame. She couldn’t face her inner self honestly, knowing that what she had done, though not a major mistake, still brought harm to many.

”My dearest husband, I know this matter has hurt your heart deeply, but I hope you know, I truly haven’t buried it deep within mine.

No matter Chen Gang’s feelings towards me, I only ever view him as a classmate and friend. I could never cross those boundaries to be with him. I hope you can trust me!

Perhaps now, for you, everything is no longer as trustworthy as before, but I hope you know, my love for you has never changed. I’ve always wished that as long as I could be with you, no matter how great the grievances I faced, I was willing. However, now I realize that since we no longer have trust between us as husband and wife, it might be better to live apart for some time!

You always say I am with you for your money. I truly want to harden my heart and tell you that I am with you for money, that I am indeed a gold-digging woman. But I cannot do that because I can’t betray my own heart. Using my parents to threaten me, I’ve already realized that your heart decided long ago. Why bother telling me in such a way that makes me embarrassed?

Rest assured, I’ll tell my parents to return to the country soon. I will repay all the living expenses they incurred while abroad over the years. I won’t touch a single penny of your assets because when you speak to me like that, it makes my heart painfully uncomfortable. The husband I love most actually says such things to me. What have my years of waiting counted for? What has my desperate effort over the years amounted to? My parents imagined us in love, hoping we could always be loving. Are we doing right by them with how we act?

Please take care of our child in the future; our heart always lacks security. Like you when you were young, always trying to prove to those closest to you that you are not the most useless, enduring so much hardship. I hope you can truly compensate her, treat her like your most beloved son, and stop subjecting her to those demonic training sessions. She is my born daughter; I cannot watch her train arduously while I, as her mother, remain indifferent!

Regarding Grandpa, I hope you can persuade him not to overthink. People always learn to grow up, perhaps eternally living such a cowardly life.

I also hope you can convey to Grandpa my gratitude for his care and concern over the years. Ultimately, I am going to disappoint her. She has given so much for us, perhaps too much. I hope you can ensure Grandpa takes good care of his health. Someday, I will return to visit her. I am leaving now, please don’t use your connections to find me. If we have the fate, we shall meet again; if not, we won’t see each other ever again!”

Zhang Yichen found it difficult to accept the letter his wife had left behind. Why did she choose such a resolute way to treat him? In his eyes, what did he mean to her? Why could he never recognize his issues? Clearly, something so minor could have been clarified, yet she had to make such a big deal of it. Why make such fuss; it’s true, she had to realize her own faults.

No matter what decision his wife makes, he decided he wouldn’t go looking for her again. He had already lowered his head and admitted his mistake once, but she pushed him away indifferently; what justification did he have to seek her out again? He refused to be someone so shameless and spineless.

”If she leaves, then let her go; at least I won’t have to see her every day in the house, always reminding me of those embarrassing, depressing events. Since she insists on leaving this home, why force her to stay and suffer, anyway? Whatever she desires, I’ll give to her. Now that she has decided to leave here, why force her to stay, which only belittles her sacrifices for me? If she truly desires such freedom, then let her go; I will live my life well. Lose her, I shall not; such a vast world, how could one forsake decades of beautiful years for a woman?”

Old Master Zhang found out a week later that his granddaughter-in-law had left home, and upon learning of the situation, he simply couldn’t fathom it; it was completely unexpected. His grandson actually encountered such matters one day, but ultimately, the core issue was the lack of trust between them as husband and wife. Otherwise, how could things have reached this point?

A marriage without trust is genuinely terrifying. Once a wrong path is taken, it becomes a grave for love, never a paradise. Some never find love’s paradise; others fall from heaven to hell. All things considered, no choice escapes the consequence of one’s decisions. The right and wrong of one’s choice are entirely within their hands. Once a wrong choice is made, no one can help them.

Old Master Zhang could only silently lament, knowing all things were destiny’s fate, unable to change the rules set by heaven...

But now, I won’t be as foolishly naive as before, thinking this was his greatest desire, when perhaps it was what he least wanted to give me.
