My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1765: Chapter 1559: Unwavering Devotion

In the blink of an eye, the fateful bonds we missed are mourned through the silent strings of a used-up harp.

A thousand words ultimately weave true feelings into a cocoon, hoping sincerity can fly far away.

Longing from thousands of miles away, but where are you?

”Zhentian, could you really be so foolish? You never used to be like this, although I always enjoyed thinking of you as silly and too naive, acting without thinking things through.

But why, when you did this today, did you not consider the final outcome at all in your heart? You didn’t care at all about what your father might think; in your eyes, there’s only me. But is a wife truly that important in your eyes? A father is the one who brought you into this world and raised you with great effort; it’s not easy. But I’m just a pawn that entered your home as a wife; if a wife is lost, you can find another, but once a father is gone, he’s gone forever. Why don’t you consider your family’s feelings?

Even though you care about me this much, I’m really touched deep down, and I’m also happy to receive such profound love from you. But sometimes love isn’t like this—this love is too selfish and self-interested. This is not the kind of love we can bear. The life we want is really simple, the happiness we want is truly uncomplicated. But why, time and time again, does the end turn into unbearable pain for us both? Is that really the outcome you desire?

You should understand that what everyone wants is merely a simple life. After all these years, we’ve been through so much together; you know this better than anyone. You know how I got through these years; you know how I feel about you. Deep down, you understand better than anyone else, so why do you still pretend to be innocent? Do you think that way you can gain everyone’s understanding? Do you think that’s fun?

Time and time again, I take the blame for everything, and you stand out to take it on for me, making the world see me as not a good person!

Sometimes, we need to think from another’s perspective, only then will you understand what others perceive of your actions, and how they might feel knowing the outcome. Never think solely from your own perspective, as that view is too careless. You can’t make decisions for others based on what they want. Sometimes your thoughts are just misunderstandings about others, but they don’t think that way at all. It’s often due to this that misunderstandings between us grow. Isn’t that how it is with us?

I think the person you should most apologize to now is not me but your father. If you had died here today, you would have lost your father and your son. To put it bluntly, you would have abandoned them once again, but this time, completely and forever. In their hearts, they won’t forgive you as this heartless father, this heartless son, because your actions don’t deserve their forgiveness. Why do you treat them this way, again and again, all for me?

Since I said I no longer resent you for past things, marrying you means I won’t pursue past mistakes. There’s no need to clutch so tightly to what’s past, as that brings no benefit, only worsening and complicating our relationship. All I want is to stay here peacefully, near my own child. Please give me this chance and stop making things difficult for me, constantly opposing me.”

Zhang Zhentian hung his head after hearing his wife’s words because for the first time, he realized everything he had done was wrong. His wife was always so sensible, compared to what he had done, what did it all mean? Once again, he nearly caused his father to irreversibly lose him, someone who cares so much about his life. Yet, why did he treat everything so lightly, neglecting their thoughts?

The blame lay in his own decisiveness; time and again, he made decisions without considering whether others could bear such blows. What he wanted were just fleeting decisions made in a moment of thoughtlessness. In the end, when regret set in, it was too late. No one would wait forever for him to repent; even admitting wrongdoing doesn’t guarantee forgiveness.

”Xia Jing, I’m sorry, I understand now. I think none of my past actions were right; what I seek now is just a stable life. I will never again sacrifice my life lightly because life is singular, and I can’t joke around with it. If I do, how painful it would be for my family, especially my father, who worked so hard to bring me into this world and raise me—white-haired sending off black-haired child?

If that’s the case, how painful it would be for them. As his son, how could I leave this world in such a way? He couldn’t comprehend it, couldn’t be happy. All my father wants is for his son to live safely, to talk with him now and then, to come home and see that person there is happiness, is comfort. But if I really left this world, what could my father say? Unable to see his face, wouldn’t it break his heart even more?”

”I’m glad you’ve understood. If you continue like this, I really wouldn’t know how to talk to you.

Your mind seems slower than everyone else’s; others readily admit mistakes, but you don’t even have time to react and just insist you’re right. Yet, the truth is, you were wrong about everything. You never considered what others thought, and now you aren’t rushing to find your father and sincerely apologize. Do you expect him to continue worrying about you there?

Parents, no matter when or where, will always care about their child’s life or death. Even if their children make mistakes, parents focus only on how their children live!”

If you watch from the breaking dawn through sleepless nights, when you turn back, you will find me always standing behind you.
