My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1768: Chapter 1562: Night Sky

No one is willing to remain ordinary. Who wouldn’t want to live a life of grandeur?

”Dad, I don’t want to argue about who was right or wrong in this matter anymore, because I think discussing such issues among us holds no meaning. Just like you said, we have become a family now, and we’ve all returned to this home. Can’t we put aside past prejudices and live together peacefully?

I know the things I did before really wronged you and hurt you, but I have already been punished. I’ve put aside all my dignity and pride to beg you to take me back. Isn’t this sincerity enough?

In your eyes, what must I do to show sincerity? Do you think I should kneel at the door for three days and nights, begging for your forgiveness, before you’ll see my sincerity?

You’re my father, and I trust that seeing your son suffer outside all these years doesn’t sit well with you. But for your pride, you had to keep this burden because you believe some things really can’t just be forgotten with ease.

No matter what, I am still your son. No matter the conflicts between us, this is an unchangeable fact. Even if time rewinds, we are still father and son — this is a blood relationship that can’t be severed. My mother painstakingly gave birth to me, granting me life, and you worked hard to raise me, giving me the life I have now, without any worries about food and clothing. I am truly grateful, but some things can’t just be done because I want to.

I also hope my father can occasionally consider things from my perspective, recognizing my difficulties. Living is not easy for me either. Everything I do is in hopes that everyone can live happily. Why can’t you all understand my good intentions, and instead feel that everything I do is merely to hurt you?

Is it because I once did something that hurt you, that whatever I do in your eyes is harmful? Why do you doubt me like this? We don’t even have basic trust between us? You’re my father, I’m your biological son. Why has our father-son relationship turned into this?”

At this moment, Old Master Zhang didn’t know what to say.

He realized that his son could also be so sharp now. Why, when he forced him to leave the house back then, did he choose to say nothing? Did he really see himself as a father without compassion? If he had slightly lowered his head and said a few nice words, begging to stay in this home, no matter what, as a father, he wouldn’t have driven him out. After all, he is part of this family, part of the Zhang Family.

”I don’t want to argue with you any further about these matters now. Discussing this won’t benefit us. I just want us to live peacefully in this home. You’re my son, there’s no mistake. I know the harm I caused you back then wasn’t trivial; it was a huge wound and a heavy blow. But that path was your choice, and now you regret it. Are you going to blame your father for it?

Honestly, even if you want to blame me now, saying I forcibly drove you out of this home, leaving you with no option to return for life — I can clearly tell you, no matter what you say, it doesn’t make any difference to me. Because in your heart, you’ve treated your father like a stranger, while you’ve always said you want to make amends to everyone in this household. No matter what you do now, in my heart, your choice from back then cannot be blamed on me. I wasn’t wrong, nor did I forcibly drive you out; I didn’t hold a knife to your throat, forcing you to do it!

Can’t you reflect on your mistakes? Why did you do it, and why blame others for your wrongdoings? Should we all let you blame us again and again, let you hurt us repeatedly?

Child, I am your father, your biological father. No matter what, I would never bully my child. But the words you say today are so hurtful to me. Regardless, you shouldn’t doubt the sincerity of a father’s deep love for you!”

”Dad, you know, I don’t really mean it this way. I said this only hoping for a fair resolution. If you’ve never intended to exclude me from your heart, then please openly tell me why you did it. Why, when I returned to this home, did you choose to shut me out? Is it because of personal resentment or because of your son?”

Old Master Zhang didn’t expect that the issue tangled for so many years would finally have to be unraveled.

”If you’re determined to know the result now, then fine. I’ll tell you. Indeed, back then, I didn’t let you return not only because of your son but also for myself. I didn’t want to see you, because when you left this house, you didn’t treat me as your father and never considered what pain your departure would cause me. You only cared about your happiness and forgot there was an aging father at home needing care.

Are you surprised by what I’m saying now? But what I’m telling you is true. I never imagined reaching this point with you, nor did I think I would easily forgive and let you return home. If it were up to me, I certainly wouldn’t let you return. I kept rejecting you at the door time and again — you must resent me deeply, right?

If you hate me so much because of that, why pretend to care and love me, wanting to return to take care of me, to stay by my side? You can’t wait for me to leave this world soon, so you can return and seize control, right?”

I once chased dreams, and now I long for your silhouette to appear before my eyes.
