My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1758: Chapter 1552: A Dream

Remembering when I let go of you, I was filled with regret. I never thought that one day I would feel so remorseful about this, and even more so, I never expected to be so pained by it. Once, I believed that I could still be very happy without you.

But in the end, I realized it wasn’t like that at all. I hurt you so much back then, yet you didn’t say a word, hiding in a corner and crying for such a long time.

Zhang Yichen quickly packed Old Master Zhang’s luggage and brought his grandfather back home. Throughout the journey, Old Master Zhang sat silently in his grandson’s car, without saying a word. However, his grandson could tell that his grandfather was genuinely happy; that smile came from the heart, a smile that couldn’t be faked.

”Grandpa, you’ve always wanted to be discharged from the hospital. Today, you finally got your wish. Are you happy inside? I know you’ve always wanted to have a good life at home. But because of our situation, this time you had to stay in the hospital. We’ll never let such a thing happen again. You can live peacefully at home. Trust me, our family will definitely live happily together...”

”Child, nothing matters to Grandpa more than your family being happy and content. I don’t have many extravagant desires; as long as my family can be happy, smiling every day, that is the joy of family for me.

You should also know how difficult it is for us elders to enjoy the joy of family. No one can enjoy it without reason. Most of the time, as long as our family can live happily, that’s what’s most important. No one will care about past unhappiness if we can live happily in the future. What’s the point of dwelling on the past?”

Zhang Yichen smiled. He felt his grandfather really made sense. His grandfather was always so understanding, always considering family matters, always busy for everyone else’s life, never considering his own feelings. He was always busy with family matters, never living for himself. His whole life was spent thinking about others, never about what he wanted. He lived such an arduous life.

”Grandfather, you’ve spent your entire life living for others, never considering yourself. Doesn’t that tire you? If you could think about your own life a little, would you have ended up here today? You should understand that some things can’t be changed just like that; those are deep-rooted emotions. I believe that you didn’t have ill intentions toward my father, but my father misunderstood you!

I can’t fathom how my father misunderstood you, and yet you remained devoted, worrying about his future. That must be exhausting, yet you never complained. Because I know you’ve spent your whole life silently giving for others, never thinking about what you wanted. You always stood in others’ shoes to think about everything. But what about you? You ended up so mentally fatigued, did you ever think about your own future? But you never did. Sometimes watching you live such a hard life makes my heart ache. But as a junior, many things I can’t speak openly about. I can only watch you silently, seeing you sacrifice for everyone, watching you tire yourself into the hospital time and again, yet you remain silent. Can you imagine how heart-wrenching that feels for us juniors? You are the grandfather who raised me. Everything I have achieved today is thanks to you, yet I can’t protect you, making me feel like a failure inside...”

”Child, don’t say that. From Grandpa’s perspective, as long as I can protect our family’s happy life, that’s more important than anything else. Grandpa has no other demands or extravagant hopes in this life. You also know the path I chose in life determined what my life would be like, and your perseverance and choices will surely not disappoint Grandpa!

Most of Grandpa’s life has been lived for others, so in the remaining time, live for the life you want, don’t try to change yourself, and change your original intent.”

...

The two talked along the way, and soon they arrived home. As they returned, Old Master Zhang saw his granddaughter-in-law standing at the door to welcome him. Her heart was very excited and happy, but more than that, she felt touched and gratified. All the love she gave to this family was not in vain and had been rewarded rightly.

”Grandpa, you’re back, welcome home!

Grandpa, it’s all my fault. If I hadn’t argued with my husband at home, how could you have ended up in the hospital, and not even be at ease? You’ve always been considering our family’s happiness, but we never considered your feelings as a senior. We neglected you and ignored that you also need care from us as juniors. We were so self-righteous. From now on, I will stay by your side and accompany you well. My son and I will be by your side every day, letting you enjoy the joy of family. As for the money our family wants to spend, let my husband earn it. I believe with his smart brain, he can absolutely support our whole family...”

Ran Zhihan thus threw all the problems to her husband.

Zhang Yichen heard his wife passing the problems onto him, and he grinned happily.

He knew that the family’s happy life was returning to how it used to be. He knew this matter wouldn’t change because of anyone, any appearance, or any incident. Frankly speaking, he was really comforted.

”Since my wife has spoken, how can I not work hard to earn money to support the family? I’m even planning to have another child. If I don’t strive hard, what will happen to my son in the future!”

Zhang Ni happened to run out of the house to welcome Old Master Zhang just then, and she heard her father say this. She quickly ran to her father to correct him.

”Dad, you’re wrong. You work hard not for me, your son, but for the possibility of giving me a little brother or sister with mom. As if I don’t know, I will rely on myself in the future. I don’t want to depend on Mom and Dad to support me, that’s so embarrassing. Besides, I’m a big man!”

Until my parents returned home, you alone disappeared, into an unnamed street. I don’t know where you are exactly, I just know your charming smile still attracts attention. But do you know? I deeply regret, I so hope this is nothing but a dream.
