Chapter 698: Chapter 309: Today, Slay the Buddha, Slay the God

「Two hours later.」

Xu Yun’s private jet landed safely at the airport on Hong Kong Island.

The cabin door opened.

Xu Yun, Lin Wanzhou, and the couple, Zhang Jin and Cai Shaofen, deplaned together.

On the tarmac, Fu Baoying was already waiting for them in her car not far away, with Xino standing beside it.

Something was clearly off about their expressions.

This was especially true for Xino.

The moment she saw Xu Yun, she looked ready to burst into tears; if it weren’t for the others present, she would have.

“Xu Yun, I…”

Xu Yun cut her off. “If there’s something you need to say, we can talk in the car.”

Seeing this, Zhang Jin and his wife realized something major must have happened.

Xu Yun turned to the couple and said, “We have some business to attend to first, so we’ll have to take our leave. You two go on ahead. I’ll come celebrate your mother’s birthday once I’ve handled things.”

“President Xu, don’t worry about it.”

Zhang Jin smiled. “Your business is more important. Don’t mind us.”

“Alright. See you later.”

After saying goodbye, Xu Yun said, “Let’s go,” to the other three and dove straight into the back seat that Fu Baoying was holding open.

Seeing this, Xino quickly followed him into the back.

Fu Baoying drove herself, with Lin Wanzhou in the passenger seat.

As Zhang Jin and his wife watched the luxury car speed away, he couldn’t help but remark, “To think that President Fu, the legendary figure stirring up a storm in Hong Kong Island lately, actually works for Xu Yun.”

This revelation left the couple even more shaken by the extent of Xu Yun’s power.

Cai Shaofen asked, puzzled, “Honey, what do you think happened? For President Xu to rush over so urgently.”

“I’m not sure, but it’s probably something we small-timers couldn’t help with anyway.”

Zhang Jin smiled. “Let’s not worry about the affairs of big shots. We should just hurry on home.”

“Mm.”

Inside the Maybach speeding toward the manor.

Xu Yun was the first to speak. “Tell me what happened.”

“Xu Yun, it’s all my fault.”

Inside the car, Xino could no longer hold it together. She began to cry as she spoke. “Yesterday, I took Xiaozhi to an amusement park. After we rode the roller coaster, she said she wanted ice cream, so I told her to wait right there while I went to buy some.

But when I bought it and turned around, she was gone.

I thought it was safe—it was only a few meters away. I never imagined something like this could happen.

After I realized Xiaozhi was missing, I searched the amusement park for a long time, but I couldn’t find her anywhere.

She must have been taken by bad people.”

“I’m also responsible for this,”

Fu Baoying said, full of regret. “I shouldn’t have let the two of them go out alone yesterday just so I could sign a contract. I should have gone with them. Then this wouldn’t have happened.”

Although Fu Baoying, who was driving, was also heartbroken and devastated, she remained relatively calm and didn’t have an emotional breakdown.

After all, if you had to say who in the car cared for Xiaozhi the most, it was undoubtedly her.

“Alright, now is not the time to be assigning blame.”

Xu Yun asked, “Did you call the police?”

“We did.”

Fu Baoying said with a look of disappointment, “But you know how it is. They aren’t very efficient. It’s been a day, and there’s been no news or progress.”

“What about the surrounding surveillance cameras?”

Lin Wanzhou asked, “Did they see who took her, or did Xiaozhi wander off on her own?”

“The police and I have already reviewed the footage. She was carried off by someone wearing a mask.”

Fu Baoying said, “The police think it’s likely a child abduction case and told us to wait at home for a phone call.”

“Has the call come?”

“No.”

Fu Baoying continued, “Besides the police, I’ve also privately used my connections to hire people from the underworld to investigate, offering a large sum of money.

Not only that, but when Ruan Heqing found out, he immediately started using his family’s connections to search for her as well.

You know his family originally came from the underworld. They’re probably more useful than the police.”

“So, you’re telling me that after all this time, you still have no clues or news about Xiaozhi at all?”

Xu Yun said, his voice laced with anger, “Don’t you know that the longer this drags on, the more danger Xiaozhi is in? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

At this question, Xino began to cry even more heartbrokenly.

“Sister Fu said you weren’t familiar with Hong Kong Island, and that telling you would only add to your worries.”

…

Fu Baoying also fell silent.

If she hadn’t been completely out of options, she wouldn’t have called Xu Yun and placed all her hope on him, The Only One.

“What, Fu Baoying, do you look down on me? Or did you think I wouldn’t bother to help you?”

Xu Yun cursed at Fu Baoying, “Xino is immature, but you should know better!

Something this huge happens, and you don’t tell me immediately? Instead, you try to hide it from me and solve it yourselves.

It’s been almost two days. Have you managed to solve it?”

“Xu Yun, please don’t yell at Sister Fu.”

Xino sobbed fearfully, “Xiaozhi is missing. Sister Fu is more anxious and heartbroken than anyone. This is all my fault. I’m the one who lost Xiaozhi.”

“Xu Yun, stop yelling for a minute.”

Lin Wanzhou said, “The priority right now is to figure out how to find Xiaozhi quickly and get more useful clues. Every second that passes, the danger increases.

The key is, we don’t know who the culprits are or what their motive is.

Is this a targeted kidnapping, or are we dealing with simple human traffickers?

If it’s a targeted kidnapping, that’s better. It’s probably just about money, or some other conditions. We can negotiate.

What’s scary is if they’re itinerant human traffickers. That would be the trickiest situation.”

“Let’s go back to the villa first.”

Xu Yun suddenly spoke up. “So much time has already passed. There’s no use rushing this one moment. We need to prepare properly.”

The others didn’t understand what Xu Yun meant.

But they did as he said and returned to Fu Baoying’s villa.
