Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Okay, goodbye.”

Xu Yun returned to Jiangcheng Heaven and Earth. Song Xiaowei had also returned from dinner with Fu Baoying and Xu Xiaozhi.

”Xiaowei, thanks for everything.”

Xu Yun handed her his car keys and said, ”Take my car home tonight. Be safe on the road, and text me when you get there.”

After speaking, he kissed her right in front of Fu Baoying.

”Mmm.”

The gesture made Song Xiaowei blush, and she immediately fled the scene.

Fu Baoying smiled. ”You think it’s appropriate to kiss another woman right in front of me?”

”What’s not appropriate about it?”

Xu Yun sat on the sofa and said casually, ”You’ve known for a while that I have other women.”

”But I’m still a woman. It’s natural for me to be unhappy about it.”

Fu Baoying smelled the alcohol on Xu Yun’s breath, poured him a glass of ice water, and asked, ”Did you drink a lot tonight?”

”Not that much, maybe half a bottle or so.”

Xu Yun glanced around the apartment and asked, ”Where’s Xu Xiaozhi? Why don’t I see her?”

”She played for a bit after we got back from dinner, then went to sleep.”

Fu Baoying sat down next to Xu Yun. ”Alright, spit it out. What was so important you had to call me over for?”

”Who talks about work this late at night?”

Xu Yun wrapped an arm around her, nuzzled her neck, and smiled. ”It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other. Shouldn’t we work on our relationship first?”

”Then you’d better hurry up.”

”Why?”

Fu Baoying gave a sexy, meaningful smile. ”Because Xiaozhi wakes up once in the middle of the night looking for her mommy.”

”Damn it!”

Xu Yun was speechless. Not wanting to waste any more time, he started their two-person party right then and there!

Their location shifted from the living room to the bathroom, and finally, to the master bedroom.

A day apart feels like three autumns.

So after more than a month apart, they’d have to do it a good many times!

Late into the night, noticing that Xu Xiaozhi still hadn’t woken up, Xu Yun asked in confusion, ”She still hasn’t woken up at this hour?”

”Haha...”

Hearing this, Fu Baoying said happily, ”I was just teasing you. She sleeps through the whole night. You can’t wake her no matter how much noise you make.”

”Ugh, really? You dared to lie to me.”

Hearing this, Xu Yun said ”fiercely,” ”You had me being all careful for nothing. Now I’ll show you just how serious the consequences are!”

(⊙o⊙)... Fu Baoying.

’He’s too much! I don’t think I can take any more!’

...

The next day, Xu Yun felt a tickle on his nose.

When he opened his eyes, he found Xu Xiaozhi brushing something fluffy back and forth across his nose.

He smiled. ”Xiaozhi, what are you doing?”

”Mommy told me to wake you up for breakfast.”

Xu Xiaozhi said happily, ”Mr. Xu, you’re like a lazy pig. You’ve been sleeping for so long.”

”I couldn’t help it. Mr. Xu was too tired last night.”

”Huh?”

Xu Xiaozhi asked, confused, ”Did you have to do homework last night, too?”

”Uh, you could say that.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Daddy stayed up all night doing a whole month’s worth of missed homework.”

”Wow, Mr. Xu is amazing!”

Xu Xiaozhi shook her head. ”Not like me. It takes me a long time to do my kindergarten homework every day. Am I really dumb?”

”No, you’ll get smarter when you’re a little older.”

”Really?”

”Really.”

”Yay~”

Hearing that, Xu Xiaozhi immediately ran off happily to find Fu Baoying.

She shouted as she ran, ”Mommy, Mommy, Mr. Xu said I’ll get smarter when I grow up!”

Xu Yun smiled and shook his head. ’Kids have it so good,’ he thought, ’so carefree.’

He got up, dressed, and washed up. When he came downstairs, Fu Baoying saw him and smiled. ”I made do with what was in your fridge and cooked something. Come and eat.”

”You’re up so early?”

Xu Yun asked, ”Why didn’t you rest a bit more?”

”I’m used to it. I couldn’t sleep in.”

Fu Baoying replied, ”Besides, I have this little one to look after. I have to get up and make her food.”

”You should hire a nanny when you get back.”

Xu Yun said, ”You have to work and take care of a child. It must be exhausting.”

”Xiaozhi is very well-behaved, so it’s not too tiring.”

Fu Baoying stroked Xu Xiaozhi’s head and smiled. ”On the contrary, I feel very much at ease when I come home and see her every day. I like our life, just the two of us.”

”Alright, then. It’s up to you.”

It was just a suggestion from Xu Yun. As long as she was happy, that’s all that mattered.

”Of course.”

Fu Baoying then added, ”It would be even better if there was a man in the house.”

...

Hearing her say that, Xu Yun didn’t respond.

Because that was simply impossible.

Xu Yun’s silence made Fu Baoying realize she was indulging in a fantasy.

”Did I say something I shouldn’t have?”

”Not really.”

Xu Yun said, ”Transportation is convenient now. I’ll try to visit you whenever I’m free. Or you can come find me when you have time.”

”I suppose that’s the only way.”

Fu Baoying gave a helpless smile, then changed the subject. ”I don’t have a lot of time. Shouldn’t you be telling me about the important business you mentioned?”

”I’ve taken over a stalled real estate development project from the government.”

Xu Yun said nonchalantly as he ate, ”Right now, it needs about another two billion in investment to be completed.”

”So you want me to handle it?”

Fu Baoying frowned. ”From what I know, real estate companies have been collapsing one after another. It might not be a good time for us to get into the market. The risk of losing money is very high.”

”It’s fine. If we lose money, we lose money.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”The government came to me asking me to be a Bodhisattva and put out the fire for free.”

”Ah...” Fu Baoying understood immediately.

’This investment isn’t about making a profit at all. This must involve some kind of political quid pro quo she knows nothing about.’

’But to just spend two billion like that... it’s so extravagant!’

Xu Yun continued, ”My initial idea is for you, in the Mainland, acting through your investment firm, to establish and hold a controlling stake in a new real estate company to handle this.”

”A whole new company for a single project?”

Fu Baoying said, ”I think it would be simpler to just outsource it. We can provide the funding and supervision, and let another real estate developer handle the construction.”

”That’s one way to look at it.”

Xu Yun explained, ”But what if Heaven sees me doing a good deed with no expectation of reward and suddenly drops a few profitable development projects in my lap?”

...Fu Baoying.

Just hearing Xu Yun talk about it didn’t give her a clear picture. She wanted to see the actual state of the construction site for herself.

So, after they finished eating, Xu Yun made a call and had Yu Xuan come over.

When she saw Fu Baoying and Xu Xiaozhi, she didn’t show the slightest hint of awkwardness. Instead, she made an effort to act as a secretary should.

Xu Yun didn’t bother with explanations and just handed Xu Xiaozhi over to her care.

He and Fu Baoying then drove to the project in South City.

Xu Yun hadn’t known the details before. It was only after arriving on-site that he discovered this stalled project was a redevelopment of a section of South City’s old district that had already been demolished.

The area was quite large. No wonder there was a two-billion-yuan shortfall.

”Just looking at the location, it’s not bad at all.”

After driving around and observing the abandoned construction site, Fu Baoying said, ”According to what you said, even though we’ll be losing money on the housing—basically giving it away—if we can persuade the government to slightly alter the design and plans to include a commercial center, we might be able to lose a little less.”

”That’s something you can have your people discuss with the government.”

Xu Yun spread his hands. ”Anyway, I’ve shown you the site. I’m leaving this whole thing to you.”

...Fu Baoying.

’Why do I feel like he’s just shamelessly dumping this on me?’

However, the fastest and best solution she could think of for this matter was to acquire a local Jiangcheng real estate company, do a simple shell reorganization, and put it to work.

Meanwhile.

In the city leader’s office, a secretary came in and placed a file on Xu Yun in front of him.

Although Old Xi had made the introduction, and he trusted him, he had still ordered a background check on Xu Yun’s personal assets to be safe.

He needed to see if the man truly had the capacity to take over the stalled old-district development project.

After all, an investment of two billion was no small sum.

When he saw that Xu Yun had over four billion in cash just sitting in his personal accounts, the last trace of doubt in his heart vanished completely.

’This young man is a bona fide tycoon!’
