Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Ou Jingya’s face flushed at his words. She smiled and ’threatened’, ”Alright, student, I’ll remember you. Tomorrow, I’m going to have a talk with your teacher.”

”Ah? Teacher, please don’t.”

Of course, Ou Jingya wasn’t actually going to find his teacher. She was just teasing.

Xu Yun was true to his word. He paid for every Jiang University student there, regardless of whether they had wished her a happy birthday or not. Young Master Xu was picking up the tab for the whole room.

As a result, his image was instantly elevated in everyone’s eyes.

[By Doing as You Please and treating the adorable underclassmen, making yourself a ”generous upperclassman,” you are rewarded with 50,000 in cash.]

[Bank Balance: 10.02 billion]

A reward of 50,000 wasn’t even enough to register a change in Xu Yun’s system balance anymore.

This was because the display omitted any figures below the ten-million mark.

After dinner, Xu Yun drove Ou Jingya home.

After she got out of the car, Ou Jingya asked, a little puzzled, ”Xu Yun, how did you know today was my birthday?”

”I can tell fortunes.”

”I don’t believe you.”

Ou Jingya smiled and retorted, ”Xu Yun, don’t tell me you secretly asked my mom?”

”No, not at all.”

Xu Yun explained, ”I was over at your house for dinner and happened to see your ID card on the coffee table. I just noticed the date was today.”

”You memorized it after just one glance?”

Xu Yun shrugged. ”Nothing I can do about it. I have a good memory. It’s photographic.”

”Thank you for celebrating my birthday with me today. You spent too much.”

”It certainly was a big expense.”

Xu Yun laughed. ”You were supposed to be treating me, but I ended up picking up the tab for the entire room!”

”Hahaha, I’ll make it up to you next time.”

Ou Jingya hesitated for a moment before smiling and asking, ”My mom bought a birthday cake. It’s at home. Do you want to come up for a bite?”

”Nah, I’m not a big fan of that stuff.”

Xu Yun declined. ”You should head on up. Don’t keep Teacher Wu waiting. And finally, happy birthday!”

”Thank you. Good night.”

”’Night.”

With that, Xu Yun turned, got into his car, and left without a moment’s hesitation.

Ou Jingya stood there watching him for a moment, a complex emotion in her eyes, before she turned and went upstairs.

Back home, her mother, Wu Jinyan, asked, ”Why are you so late today?”

”Something came up at school. I got held up and had to work a little overtime.”

Ou Jingya looked at the birthday cake on the table and said with a smile, ”Come on, let’s blow out the candles.”

”Sigh. Every year, it’s just the two of us.”

Wu Jinyan sighed. ”I wish you’d bring someone else home. It would be nice for the three of us to celebrate together.”

”Mom, it’s my birthday~”

”Alright, I’ll stop. Go on, make a wish.”

Ou Jingya looked at the cake and candles. She clasped her hands, closed her eyes, and silently made a wish—one that was a little different than the ones she’d made before.

Then she opened her eyes and blew out all the candles in one breath.

Ou Jingya cut a small piece for her mom first, then another for herself.

As she ate her cake, she thought, ’I hope this year’s wish comes true!’

「In a five-star hotel.」

A group of branch managers and deputy managers from Jiangcheng’s Construction Bank were gathered here for dinner.

Earlier that afternoon, the leadership had held a fairly large meeting there. The main agenda was to summarize and analyze the bank’s performance for the year, as well as to set targets for the next.

During the meeting, a top executive from the main branch had publicly praised Jian Shiwai’s branch, encouraging everyone to learn from their experience.

This made Governor Gao look particularly good.

The other branch managers were incredibly envious when they heard about the performance of his branch’s personal savings deposits.

Incredible. The personal savings deposits at that one branch exceeded the combined total of all the other branches.

This was all thanks to one super-VIP client.

After all, they were both colleagues and competitors, so gossip and news traveled fast.

Everyone had vaguely heard that their bank had a mysterious client named Xu Yun, whose personal savings alone amounted to a staggering 4 billion.

To put that into perspective...

Most of their branches only brought in 200 to 300 million in personal savings deposits per year.

If they could poach a client like that, he would be a veritable God of Wealth for their business. They would never have to worry about meeting their annual targets again.

But they all knew that was practically impossible.

His current branch was undoubtedly guarding him jealously.

During dinner, everyone started trying to curry favor with Governor Gao.

For one, with performance like this, he could be promoted to the main branch at any moment and become their superior.

For another, those who were struggling to meet their targets wanted to tentatively ask if he could persuade his local tycoon to transfer a hundred or two hundred million to their branches to help them hit their numbers.

Governor Gao was a slick operator. He didn’t want to help, but he didn’t want to offend anyone either, so he passed the buck.

”Our God of Wealth here is a client that Chairman Jian brought in.”

Governor Gao shook his head. ”I have no sway with him. If you want to ask for a favor, I suggest you talk to Chairman Jian.”

At his words, all eyes turned to the beautiful branch manager, their gazes tinged with a probing curiosity.

But in their world, bringing in business was all that mattered. No one cared what methods you used—not even the higher-ups. They only cared about results.

So, in no time, Jian Shiwai was surrounded.

Jian Shiwai was no rookie. Faced with the hot potato Governor Gao had tossed her, she neither refused nor agreed. She simply said she would be sure to inquire on their behalf.
