Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Once Ou Jingya made up her mind, she didn’t hesitate.

She left her office and headed straight for the third floor of the cafeteria.

The third floor wasn’t crowded, but because of where he was sitting, Xu Yun had his back to the entrance, so he didn’t notice Ou Jingya at all.

Ou Jingya, on the other hand, spotted him the moment she entered the cafeteria, recognizing him just from his back.

However, she didn’t approach him right away. Instead, she found her friend and sat down with her.

”Jingya, you’re finally here.”

Her friend glanced toward Xu Yun’s table. ”Want to go over there and tear into the other woman? Don’t worry, I’ve got your back.”

”Don’t be ridiculous. What other woman?”

Ou Jingya explained, ”I already told you, we’re not a couple. We’re just ordinary friends.”

”Uh...”

Hearing this, her friend said, ”But you definitely like him, right? Don’t even try to fool me.”

Ou Jingya was speechless.

”But, to be honest, that woman he’s with is gorgeous. She has real class, too. She doesn’t seem like just anyone.”

Her friend sighed. ”She’s some serious competition for you.”

While her friend spoke, Ou Jingya carefully studied Jian Shiwai. She took in her appearance, her aura, her fashion sense, and the jewelry she was wearing.

She missed nothing.

Her friend was right. This was no ordinary woman, and her financial situation had to be good.

’Then again, that made sense. A woman seen with Xu Yun wouldn’t be just anyone.’

Watching them laugh and chat together, Ou Jingya felt a bitter pang in her heart.

It was jealousy, but more than that, it was envy.

”Xu Yun, I think there are two people over there who keep looking at us.”

The perceptive Jian Shiwai had quickly noticed Ou Jingya and her friend. ”Do you know them?” she asked.

”Oh, really?”

Curious, Xu Yun turned to look, and his eyes met Ou Jingya’s.

Her friend gave an awkward laugh. ”We’ve been spotted. Now what?”

”It’s fine.”

Ou Jingya gave Xu Yun a natural smile, then stood up and walked over. ”What a coincidence,” she said in greeting. ”Senior, what made you decide to eat in the cafeteria today?”

”I was missing the food here.”

Xu Yun smiled and asked, ”You just got off work? Eating with a colleague?”

”Yeah. My mom’s busy and couldn’t cook, so I had to come here to eat.”

After she finished, Ou Jingya looked at Jian Shiwai and asked with a smile, ”Senior, is this lovely lady your girlfriend? Aren’t you going to introduce us?”

”Not his girlfriend, just a friend.”

A woman’s intuition is powerful. The moment Jian Shiwai saw the other woman, she knew she liked Xu Yun.

So, she tactfully denied being his girlfriend to save Xu Yun from any unnecessary trouble.

”This is Chairman Jian, the beautiful chairwoman of a China Construction Bank branch, and also my financial manager.”

Then, turning to Jian Shiwai, Xu Yun made the introduction. ”This is Ou Jingya, a teacher here at the university. She was two years behind me, so she’s my junior. She’s also the daughter of my former teacher, Wu Jinyan.”

”Hello, Teacher Ou.”

Jian Shiwai smiled. ”It’s a pleasure to meet you. I believe we’ve met once before when your mother came to my bank to set up a scholarship account.”

”Hello, Chairman Jian.”

Hearing that the other woman wasn’t Xu Yun’s girlfriend, Ou Jingya instantly relaxed.

Xu Yun asked, ”Teacher Ou, have you eaten yet? Why don’t you join us?”

”Really? I wouldn’t be interrupting anything important, would I?”

”Not at all.”

Xu Yun said, ”The only thing is, you’ll have to go order your own food and use your own card. We had to borrow one from another student.”

”That’s fine.”

Ou Jingya smiled. ”Is there anything else you two want? I’ll order it all at once.”

”We’re fine, just order whatever you’d like to eat.”

Xu Yun added, ”Why don’t you have your friend join us as well?”

”It’s fine, don’t worry about her. She’s almost finished eating.”

Ou Jingya said, ”I’ll just go over and tell her in a minute.”

”Alright, then.”

And so, her friend was mercilessly abandoned, left to inwardly curse Ou Jingya for choosing a man over a friend.

As the three of them ate, the two women seemed to hit it off. Their conversation revolved entirely around stories from Xu Yun’s time at university.

For instance, Jian Shiwai brought up the rumor about him being at the top of the ”Campus Heartthrob” list, but Ou Jingya mercilessly shot it down, declaring he’d never been on it at all.

Xu Yun feigned embarrassment, playing along to keep the mood light.

But then Ou Jingya quickly swooped in to save his pride, adding that plenty of girls still had secret crushes on him.

”But back then, our senior was completely focused on studying and making money. He paid no attention to any of the girls, which is why he was single pretty much all through university.”

Xu Yun asked, puzzled, ”We weren’t even in the same year. How do you know so much about my life back then?”

”I heard some things from my mom, and other things from classmates.”

Ou Jingya laughed. ”You probably don’t know this, but a girl in my dorm had a secret crush on you. She was going to confess her feelings, but I stopped her.”

Xu Yun: ”???”

”Senior, you didn’t even want *me* back then. Why would you have wanted some other girl from my dorm?”

Xu Yun: ”...”

’You’re you, and she’s her.’

’Those are two completely different things, okay?!’

’Just because I didn’t want to date you doesn’t mean I wouldn’t have dated someone else!’

Since they were chatting the whole time, the meal ended up lasting for over an hour.

Jian Shiwai and Ou Jingya also exchanged contact information, added each other on social media, and became good friends.

Xu Yun found the whole situation ridiculous.
