Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”President Xu.”

Jian Shiwai snuggled into his embrace and asked perceptively, ”Shouldn’t you call them back? What if it’s something urgent?”

”Yeah.”

Xu Yun was actually a little worried something was wrong.

He called the number back.

「At Su Mu’s House.」

Li Jinshu was discussing with Su Mu how they could get Xu Yun to change his mind.

Seeing Xu Yun’s name suddenly pop up on the screen, Li Jinshu and Su Mu exchanged a look. ”It’s over,” Li Jinshu said. ”Xu Yun is calling back right now. What do I say?”

”I don’t know either.”

Su Mu said helplessly, ”Just wing it. It’s not like we have any good ideas anyway.”

”Okay.”

Li Jinshu answered the call, put it on speaker, and placed the phone between them.

Over the phone, Xu Yun asked, ”You called me so many times tonight. Is there an emergency?”

”Are you getting rid of Ning Qian?”

Li Jinshu said, her voice tinged with sadness, ”If you’re really going to be angry, then yell at me. It has nothing to do with her.”

”???”

On his end, Xu Yun was completely baffled. ”What are you talking about?” he asked, confused.

”Stop pretending. I know what’s going on.”

Li Jinshu took a deep breath and pleaded, ”Ning Qian was only helping me that night. Can you please not be mad at her and let her stay?”

”Who said I was getting rid of her?”

”Didn’t you tell her to leave today? To resign from Susu’s company.”

Xu Yun asked, ”Did Su Mu tell you that?”

Li Jinshu went silent.

Back at Jian Shiwai’s apartment, hearing her telling silence, Xu Yun knew the answer.

He also understood why Li Jinshu had been acting so strangely during the day.

So, what he’d said to Su Mu had been completely misinterpreted.

’Seriously, am I that petty?’

He said with an exasperated sigh, ”You’re all overthinking it. I just wanted her to take a few days off to rest before going to manage a new company I’ve arranged for her.”

”Huh???”

Li Jinshu was astonished. ”You’re promoting her?”

”What else?”

Xu Yun chuckled and retorted, ”You expect her to be a receptionist at Su Mu’s company forever?”

”Haha... I knew it.”

Hearing this, Li Jinshu was overjoyed. ”I knew you were the best, not petty at all! It turns out Susu and Ning Qian just misunderstood.

I’ll go next door right now and tell her the good news.

You have no idea, she came home today and packed up all her things.”

”Never mind, I’ll call and tell her myself.”

Xu Yun pretended to be angry. ”Also, tell Sister Su next to you that I’ll remember this!”

”Huh? How did you know I was at Susu’s place?”

”A magician never reveals his secrets.”

Xu Yun knew because Chen Ran had just sent him a message saying Li Jinshu had rushed out of the house and wouldn’t be back to sleep tonight.

So he immediately figured she had gone to find Su Mu.

After hanging up, Xu Yun toyed with a strand of Jian Shiwai’s hair and then called Ning Qian.

「In Apartment 1902.」

Even though it was very late, Ning Qian was still awake, clutching her phone and staring at the screen!

Tear stains streaked her sad face!

She had made a decision in her heart.

’If Xu Yun doesn’t call or text me by morning, I’ll leave and go back to my old life.’

Just as she was recalling her past moments with Xu Yun, the silent phone’s screen lit up, accompanied by a vibration.

Seeing Xu Yun’s name on it, Ning Qian felt a sudden wave of fear.

She wanted him to call, yet she didn’t.

But in the end, she had to answer.

Ning Qian pressed the answer key, trying her best to keep her emotions calm. ”Hello, President Xu.”

”Getting bold, are we?”

Xu Yun didn’t beat around the bush, his voice feigning anger. ”I hear you’re planning on running away from home behind my back?”

”Huh?!”

Ning Qian was momentarily stunned.

After a moment, she quickly explained, ”President Xu, I’m not! Didn’t you tell me to...”

”I told you to go home and rest, not to pack your bags and run!”

Xu Yun said, ”You’re grounded at home for the next few days. You’re not allowed to go anywhere, understand?”

”Mhm, mhm, mhm, mhm, mhm~”

Listening to Xu Yun’s words, tears of joy streamed down Ning Qian’s face. ”I’ll stay home for the next few days,” she said. ”I won’t take a single step outside.”

”Are you in bed yet?”

”Not yet, but I was about to.”

”Is Yu Xuan asleep?”

”I think... she should be.”

”Alright then. Get yourself cleaned up and wait for me.”

Xu Yun said menacingly, ”If I don’t teach you a lesson tonight, you’ll never learn how tough I am!”

”Mmm...”

Ning Qian’s face flushed as she replied.

’So I was just overthinking. It was all a false alarm!’

The thought that Xu Yun would be coming over soon made her heart race with excitement.

To avoid waking Yu Xuan next door, she didn’t dare turn on the lights. Instead, she used her phone’s flashlight to open the suitcases she had packed during the day, carefully choosing from among her countless ”battle outfits.”

Jian Shiwai listened to the entire conversation between Xu Yun and Ning Qian without a hint of jealousy.

Instead, the moment Xu Yun hung up, she had already gotten up, brought his clothes over, and said with a smile, ”Let me help you get dressed.”

”Thanks.”

Xu Yun had to admit, Jian Shiwai’s attentiveness was simply top-notch.

Then, still in her pajamas, she walked Xu Yun to the door and reminded him, ”Drive carefully on your way. Be safe.”

”I know.”

Shortly after Xu Yun left, Jian Shiwai received the commission from the Gulfstream salesperson—a considerable sum of about 1.5 million!

She had originally planned to keep this money for herself.

Her apartment was still under a mortgage, and she had wanted to use this commission to pay off the remaining balance in one go, to finally, truly own a home of her own.

But now that she and Xu Yun had made substantial progress tonight, she wasn’t so worried anymore.

’As long as I stay with him, the benefits he’ll give me in the future will make this mortgage a non-issue.’

So, to show her loyalty, or perhaps to win his favor and trust, she immediately messaged Xu Yun about the money.

She planned to transfer it to Xu Yun’s account after going to the bank tomorrow.

When Xu Yun heard about it, he was driving and simply laughed. ”That money was given to you, so just keep it. I heard tonight that your apartment is still under a mortgage. Use it to pay that off.”

”Okay, I understand.”

Jian Shiwai agreed without any false modesty. ”I’ll change the door lock to a keypad lock in a few days. That way, President Xu, you can come over whenever you want just by entering the code.”

”Okay.”

After ending his conversation with Jian Shiwai, Xu Yun suddenly received a belated reward from the system.

[As a magnate, the Host has purchased his own private jet, fulfilling the ’Do as You Please’ directive. By acquiring a top-tier mode of transportation and showcasing your strength, you are rewarded with 3.3 billion in cash.]

[Bank Account Balance: 4.02 Billion]

’The system’s getting more and more generous,’ Xu Yun thought. ’The rewards are always ten times the cost now.’

The corners of Xu Yun’s mouth curled up as he began to hum a little tune.

’Come on, let’s have some fun!’

Li Yonghua finished his patrol and returned to his guard booth.

He was lost in thought.

’When did my original reason for coming to the big city change?’

He and his mother had originally come here to find Li Jinshu and get their house back.

But after meeting her today, he found that his desire wasn’t as strong as it used to be.

Deep down, Li Yonghua felt that his current life was actually pretty good.

That was why he had wavered when faced with Li Jinshu’s threats, allowing her to get a hold over him.

”Hey, what are you spacing out for?”

A sudden, familiar voice broke the silence.

Li Yonghua snapped back to his senses and saw Xu Yun’s infuriating face.

Remembering the company’s rules, he forced a smile. ”Welcome home, sir! Is there anything I can help you with?”

”Not much. Just keep a good eye on my cars.”

Xu Yun pointed to a few cars nearby: his own black G-Wagen, Li Jinshu’s Continental GT, and the Aston Martin hybrid Valkyrie that Su Mu was temporarily driving.

”They’re all yours?”

”Yep. So you better pay close attention and not let anyone scratch them. Otherwise, I’ll file a complaint against you.”

Xu Yun grinned. ”Especially that supercar. It’s worth 30 million. If someone accidentally scratches it... you know what’ll happen.”

”...” Li Yonghua was speechless.

’Damn it,’ he thought. ’You buy a 30 million car and park it in a garage like this?’

Having finished teasing him, Xu Yun arrived at the door of his apartment, 1902, entered the password, and slipped inside in the dark.

He’d done this routine many times before.

Whether it was 1901 or 1902, he couldn’t be more familiar with the layout.

Once inside, he listened for any sounds before walking to the door of Ning Qian’s bedroom and sending her a message.

”Open the door. I’m outside.”

In just two seconds, the bedroom door in front of him opened a crack.

It was clear Ning Qian had been staring at her phone.

Xu Yun slipped into the room in a flash and quickly shut the door.

’Heh, another battle outfit I’ve never seen before?’

’Ning Qian sure has a lot of skins!’
