This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng figured that there shouldn’t be anything serious going on with Wu Shengnan at the School, so he focused on answering Director Zhao’s question first and hung up on Wu Shengnan.

”Professor Ding has returned to normal now, but I have a concern: just how deep are her feelings for her husband, and to what extent can she accept it?”

As he put away his mobile phone, Du Heng frowned and said these words.

Upon hearing this, Director Zhao also frowned immediately. ”You mean it might relapse?”

Du Heng nodded slowly. ”Based on the previous onset characteristics, there’s a high possibility.”

Director Zhao took a deep breath. ”Is there no way to cure it completely?”

Du Heng shook his head. ”No. Multiple incidents happened in a short period, and she witnessed them firsthand; the emotional impact is very strong. If she could accept her husband divorcing her, then she could likely accept the news of her husband’s death as well. In that case, as long as she maintains a happy mood in her future life, the problems will naturally disappear over time.”

As he spoke, Du Heng couldn’t help but glance back at the partition where Ding Yuxue was. Although he couldn’t see anything clearly, his eyes still revealed his concern.

”But you know the situation, Director Zhao. Professor Ding’s feelings for her husband must be very deep, which has become an unpredictable factor. As for the final outcome, it really depends on Professor Ding’s own mentality.”

Director Zhao paced in circles, his lips pursed in distress, though it wasn’t clear what he was lamenting.

Seeing he wasn’t speaking, Du Heng didn’t stay any longer. After saying goodbye, he returned to the hospitalization department.

This time, however, Du Heng somewhat avoided the little boy and didn’t go to see him.

「In a flash, it was time to get off work.」

Du Heng hadn’t received any more calls from Director Zhao or the emergency department, nor had Ding Yuxue’s parents arrived.

Suppressing the urge to see the little boy, he gave instructions to Cao Binghe, then went to the School to pick up Wu Shengnan.

Wu Shengnan hadn’t attended classes that afternoon and had stayed in her School Dormitory. When Du Heng came to pick her up, she had a distinctly sour look on her face.

Du Heng was puzzled. He had already forgotten about hanging up on Wu Shengnan when he had just gotten to work that afternoon. With a cheerful smile, he asked, ”Why the long face? Did Gu annoy you again?”

Wu Shengnan remained silent, her face still sour, which confused Du Heng even more. He simply couldn’t recall hanging up on her.

Honestly, up to this point, his mind was filled with Ding Yuxue and her son. He didn’t know what Ding Yuxue would become after learning the truth. If her son found out that during his parents’ struggle, his father was run over by a Car and his mother developed a mental illness, what would become of him? So, even though Du Heng was with Wu Shengnan at the moment, at least half of his attention was still on his work at the Hospital. And now he had to drive home; his brain felt somewhat overwhelmed.

Wu Shengnan felt quite helpless too.

She was seething, but Du Heng remained like a block of wood, offering no reaction whatsoever. It seemed he was completely oblivious, which made Wu Shengnan feel like she was talking to a brick wall.

After holding it in for a long time, Wu Shengnan couldn’t bear it any longer and recounted the incident from the classroom that afternoon. ”Honey, do you think Gu really had a stroke?”

Du Heng glanced back at Wu Shengnan, then refocused on driving. His tone was somewhat helpless as he said, ”You’re not still blaming yourself for this, are you?”

Wu Shengnan was exasperated by his obtuseness and indicated she didn’t want to drag out this topic. ”Just answer my question. Don’t go off on tangents.”

Du Heng made a slight face but didn’t press the issue. Instead, he addressed Wu Shengnan’s earlier question, ”According to the symptoms you described, her condition aligns well with the characteristics of liver wind invading inwards. Plus, as I’ve said before, she already had issues with liver blood deficiency, and she’s rather petty. So, a stroke is almost certain.”

Wu Shengnan felt very uncomfortable but pressed on, ”So, is her condition severe? Can it be cured?”

Du Heng took a breath, pursed his lips, and then said, ”That’s hard to say.”

Wu Shengnan was taken aback. ”What do you mean?”

”This condition, liver wind invading inwards, is differentiated by deficiency or excess, and by its severity—whether it’s mild or severe,” Du Heng explained slowly. ”If her symptoms are relatively mild and she’s lucky, then the problem can be resolved through dietary adjustment and necessary rest. For example, some people, when arguing, might suddenly experience numbness across their face and trembling or stiffness in their hands and feet. They just need to calm down and rest at home for a couple of days, and they’ll be fine. That’s an example of a mild case. But if the condition is more severe, she might end up with Paralysis or suffer some lasting after-effects.”

”Ah... it’s that serious?” Wu Shengnan’s mouth dropped open in surprise. She quickly asked Du Heng, ”Then, Honey, can you cure her?”

Du Heng shook his head. ”I can’t say for sure without seeing the specific situation.”

This left Wu Shengnan somewhat puzzled. ”Honey, aren’t you an expert in this field? You’ve provided Treatment to so many people in Jinzhou, so how come you’re not sure now?”

Du Heng chuckled. ”It’s true that I’ve provided Treatment to many people in Jinzhou, but the cure rate isn’t one hundred percent.”
