This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

This was not just Du Heng being pessimistic; it was the reality of the situation. He already had a clear idea why from his time in Jinzhou, having discussed the matter with Li Jianwei. Moreover, at Hao Pengyou, there was another very strong specialty: the integration of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine. Therefore, if the Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department lacked a strong leader, its dismantling would be inevitable.

Unfazed, Du Heng left his office and went straight to Ding Yuxue’s son’s hospital room.

As soon as he entered, he saw Ding Yuxue standing by the bathroom door. Du Heng’s eyes lit up. ”Has he gone to the toilet?”

Ding Yuxue smiled happily. ”Yes, this is the second time.”

”That’s good. Now that he can urinate, it means his kidney function is starting to recover. The rest shouldn’t be a major issue.” Glancing into the hospital room, he asked, ”Where’s the child’s father? Did he go buy lunch for you?”

Ding Yuxue’s face stiffened for a moment.

She hadn’t been able to reach her husband’s phone all morning. When she finally got through, he said he’d come right away. However, more than an hour had passed, and he was still nowhere to be seen.

Seeing the change in Ding Yuxue’s expression, Du Heng instantly knew he’d likely asked something inappropriate. He quickly said, ”How about this: you stay here with the child and keep a close eye on him. I’ll go get some food for you both from our hospital canteen.”

Without waiting for Ding Yuxue to refuse, Du Heng left the hospital room.

As for the child, now that he could urinate, there wasn’t much else to check.

As he reached the stairwell, Du Heng was bumped by a refined-looking man. The man apologized and then rushed inside, flustered. It wasn’t a major incident, but the man reeked of alcohol mixed with a heavy perfume, a rather pungent combination that made Du Heng look twice.

What Du Heng didn’t know was that the man who had just passed by was Ding Yuxue’s husband.

”Yuxue, how’s the child?” the man asked anxiously as he made his way into the hospital room.

However, Ding Yuxue was no longer as anxious and scared as she had been that morning. Seeing the man enter, a trace of anger rose within her.

”The child is fine now,” Ding Yuxue said, her voice somewhat flat.

But the child on the bed sounded very happy. ”Dad!”

Ding Yuxue moved aside from the head of the bed, letting the man talk to their son. ”What were you doing last night? And why was your phone off the whole time?”

The man leaned close to the child, whispering to him. Then, hearing Ding Yuxue, he softly explained, ”Didn’t I tell you? I was discussing a collaboration with investors for the gallery last night. I wasn’t paying attention, and my phone died. Honey, you’ve worked so hard. Without you, I’d be useless, unable to take care of myself or our child.”

With the man’s explanation, coupled with his tried-and-true flattery and sweet talk, Ding Yuxue’s expression immediately softened.

”Dad, I can smell your fragrance! My nose is better, I can smell things again!”

Suddenly, the child’s delighted voice rang out.

However, when these words reached Ding Yuxue’s ears, her heart clenched painfully.

Because she knew her husband never wore perfume.
