This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng felt a headache coming on.

As he hung up the phone, he started walking towards the Emergency Department. But when he was almost at the elevator, he remembered the child in the hospital room, so he quickly turned around and went to find Cao Binghe.

When Cao Binghe heard what Du Heng said, his first thought was, He must be joking.

But then he reconsidered. This isn’t something to joke about, and Du Heng’s expression doesn’t look like he’s joking. This made Cao Binghe blurt out, ”What the fuck.”

”Don’t you worry about it,” Du Heng said, pursing his lips helplessly. ”Just watch the child closely during this time, and don’t tell him what happened.”

Cao Binghe had just spoken casually, but of course, he knew the seriousness of the matter. He nodded and got up, walking towards the hospital room. ”Don’t worry, I’ll watch the child. You go quickly and check on Professor Ding.”

After arranging for the little boy, Du Heng finally felt relieved and rushed to the Emergency Department.

But after taking only a few steps, another problem occurred to him. What’s the point of me even going there?

My status is so unclear. Other than answering a few questions, it doesn’t seem like I can offer any real help to Ding Yuxue and her husband.

After thinking about it, Du Heng called Director Zhao again and briefly explained the situation, asking the School to contact Ding Yuxue’s family members as soon as possible.

If necessary, the School could send a leader, which would be much more effective than him being there alone.

At the very least, the issue with Ding Yuxue’s husband wasn’t something he, as a mere colleague, could resolve with his signature.

When Director Zhao heard Du Heng’s call, he was dumbstruck on the spot.

His first thought was, Did Du Heng cause this?

However, this thought only flashed through his mind before he dismissed it. He then hurriedly called the leaders, asked the office staff to contact Ding Yuxue’s parents, and rushed to the hospital himself.

After making the call and notifying everyone, Du Heng rushed to the Emergency Department.

”Hello, I’m Du Heng. I just called about the man injured in the car accident and the woman who you said was mentally unstable. I’m her colleague.”

Upon arriving at the Emergency Department, Du Heng didn’t know who to look for and could only inquire at the conduction desk by the entrance to the resuscitation room.

The nurse immediately knew who Du Heng was talking about upon hearing his detailed description. She promptly led him to the Emergency Doctor.

”You’re just in time. This is a Critical Illness Notification. Please sign it.” As soon as they met, the Emergency Doctor thrust the form at Du Heng without any further explanation.

Can I even sign this?

Of course not.

I’m just Ding Yuxue’s colleague. What right do I have to sign on behalf of her husband?

The Emergency Doctor was anxious too. ”The man from the car accident is in very bad shape. There’s massive abdominal hemorrhage, and we can’t stop it. Sign this quickly; every second counts!”

Du Heng was also anxious. ”It’s no use telling me! I’m the woman’s colleague. I don’t even know the man’s name. How can I sign?”

”Then contact his family!” the Emergency Doctor urged.

”His wife is here in your Emergency Department; they said she’s having some mental issues,” Du Heng said, spreading his hands helplessly. ”Their son was diagnosed with acute kidney injury this morning and transferred from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to our department. He’s only just started to show some improvement. As for other family members, I really don’t know where to find them for you.”

The Emergency Doctor let out an ”Ah.”

I can’t believe someone could have such rotten luck.

Is this family headed for a total wipeout?

”Transferred to your department? So you’re also a doctor from our hospital?”

”Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department, Du Heng.”

The Emergency Doctor said, ”Oh,” and then, ”What a coincidence.” He pointed ahead. ”The woman is in the third cubicle over there. You don’t know the man’s situation, so go handle the female patient’s condition.”

Having said that, the Emergency Doctor took the undelivered Critical Illness Notification and hurried back into the resuscitation room.

Du Heng was also anxious and immediately rushed to the location pointed by the Emergency Doctor.

Although the man’s situation was more dangerous at the moment, there was nothing Du Heng could do. Even if he were called into the resuscitation room, he could only stand there passively. So, it was more critical to check on Ding Yuxue first.

Seeing Ding Yuxue again, Du Heng couldn’t help but be stunned.

That was because Ding Yuxue had been tightly strapped down with restraints.

She wasn’t shouting or making any noise, just staring wide-eyed and struggling violently, causing the sick bed beneath her to creak loudly.

If not for the restraints and straps, Ding Yuxue would have definitely rolled off the sick bed.

Du Heng had just arrived at the cubicle when he was stopped by a frowning doctor. ”What are you doing here? Family members are not allowed in. Go out quickly.”

Du Heng glanced at the doctor’s name tag and quickly said, ”Dr. Liu, hello. I’m also a doctor from our hospital. Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department, Du Heng.”

Dr. Liu looked at Du Heng suspiciously. ”Where are your uniform and name tag?”

”I just finished my meal and rushed over; I didn’t have time to change,” Du Heng quickly explained. ”This woman is my colleague from the School. Her son is also currently receiving treatment in our Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department.”

”A colleague?” Dr. Liu’s expression relaxed. ”You came at the right time. Come with me for a moment; there are some things that need to be recorded.”

After saying this, Dr. Liu brought Du Heng back to the conduction desk and began to inquire about Ding Yuxue’s basic information.
