This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Upon hearing Cao Binghe’s question, Du Heng realized Cao Binghe didn’t understand the characteristics of this treatment or the patient’s current condition. Therefore, he simply began to explain from the beginning.

”The Spirit Gate Tower is located in the middle of the abdomen and is the pivot of the lower burner. It is also close to the stomach and intestines, making it perfect for treating the patient’s symptoms of gastrointestinal prolapse.

However, this acupoint is quite special. It can only be treated with moxibustion or a hot water bag, but absolutely no acupuncture.”

As Du Heng spoke, he also observed the combustion of the moxibustion and paid attention to the patient’s condition.

In Western medicine’s terms, this patient was experiencing multi-organ failure and was on the verge of death. At this point, no amount of Adrenaline could improve their condition. Instead, the use of Adrenaline would only speed up the patient’s departure, as their spleen and kidney original yang were already severely damaged.

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, a nurse rushed into the hospital room with the medicine.

Du Heng quickly took the medicine and began to administer it to the patient. Without turning his head, he continued, ”Keep boiling the medicine and send it over as soon as it’s ready. Don’t stop at the Pharmacy until I say so.”

The nurse who had just entered the hospital room had barely had time to catch her breath before turning and running out again.

In this way, the nurse came back and forth five times, and Du Heng fed the medicine to the patient five times.

By the time the medicine was brought in for the sixth time, almost two hours had passed.

However, good news finally arrived. After the sixth administration, the patient began to slowly respond and started to mumble some words.

Du Heng checked the patient and found that their pulse had become stable and their limbs were warming up, no longer as cold as before.

On the monitor, the patient’s heart rate and other vitals began to gradually increase, approaching normal values.

With these intuitive values, not only Du Heng but also Director Qian and the others behind him knew that the patient was no longer in danger.

”Director, tell the Pharmacy to stop the medicine; the patient needs to change house.”

”I’ll make the call right now.” Director Wu agreed and then turned to walk out with the phone.

After letting out a slight sigh of relief, Du Heng softly asked the patient, ”Do you still feel cold air rushing up in your stomach now?”

The old man, exhausted, opened his eyes and said slowly, ”No, I feel warm and comfortable in my stomach now.” As he spoke, the old man even reached out to touch his stomach. ”But I am quite hungry now.”

Du Heng turned to the patient’s family and asked them to find something soft to eat. Then he asked the patient, ”Didn’t you have breakfast this morning? How come you’re hungry now?”

Speaking softly, the old man explained, ”I didn’t feel like eating what they brought in the morning, so I just had some porridge. Then I remembered there was some leftover Radish Soup from last night. I thought it’d be a waste if I didn’t drink it, so I had some more.

I’ve only had some water in my stomach since this morning, and now I’m starving.”

As the old man spoke, there was a hint of embarrassment in his tone.

However, Du Heng sighed deeply. He had finally discovered the cause of the old man’s condition.

Director Wu returned after saying a few words outside. He saw the situation in the hospital room and quietly asked Du Heng, ”Deputy Director Du, is everything alright now?”

Du Heng shook his head. ”Yes, it’s fine now. I’ll prescribe a tonifying and supporting right qi medicine, and after a few days of rest, he’ll be fine.”

Director Wu nodded. ”Let’s go then. Let the patient have something to eat and rest for a while.”

Du Heng nodded and followed Director Wu out of the hospital room.

However, they didn’t go directly back to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department. Instead, they went straight to Director Qian’s office, as they still had some paperwork to complete.

Although Du Heng didn’t want to speak to Director Qian, he couldn’t help himself once they were alone in the office. ”Director Qian,” he began, ”do you know that the Mirabilite and Radish Seed Decoction should not be continued after the intestines are unobstructed? Did you not explain this to the patient?”

Hearing Du Heng’s blunt words, Director Qian knew immediately where the problem lay, and his face flushed red with embarrassment.

Seeing that Director Qian did not respond, Du Heng continued in a cold tone, ”Did you think that a bowl of Radish Soup was no big deal?”

As Du Heng spoke, his voice became louder. ”As a doctor, you should know that anything, even the best thing, can have side effects if consumed in excess.

The Mirabilite and Radish Seed Decoction is made with several pounds of radish and more than a pound of mirabilite. With such a large dose, weren’t you at all concerned about its side effects?”

At this moment, Director Qian was no longer the same person he was a month ago. Although he was irritated by Du Heng’s scolding, he didn’t dare to talk back.

He just listened to Du Heng’s words, which sounded more and more like someone scolding a grandchild. He couldn’t help but mutter, ”When you all let Professor Lan drink so much that day, it didn’t seem to have any consequences, right?”

”You’re talking nonsense.” Du Heng himself wasn’t sure if he was genuinely angry or just seizing the opportunity to teach Director Qian a lesson. In any case, his tone was extremely poor.

Meanwhile, Director Wu acted like an outsider, turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to Du Heng’s harsh attitude.

With an indignant huff, Du Heng said, ”Which eye of yours saw Professor Lan drink a lot?”
