This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”Moreover, didn’t you see that after Professor Lan’s intestines were unblocked, I stopped giving him the Mirabilite and Radish Seed Decoction?”

Du Heng stared fixedly at Director Qian. ”Have you ever seen someone fart excessively after eating too much Radish? How much gas do you think a soup made from several pounds of Radish could produce?

”All that gas—do you think it *wouldn’t* affect the intestines, spleen, stomach, and kidneys?

”Today, the patient was fortunate that their stomach didn’t experience any major issues. Otherwise, just the gas alone could have blown their intestines out.

”You tell me, how could you dare to use it so casually without giving the patient clear medical advice about the situation or when to stop the medication?

”Considering the patient’s intestinal obstruction, their spleen and kidney are already weak. With such a large dose of medication, and administered so many times, do you think their spleen and kidney could handle it?”

At this moment, Director Qian was filled with extreme regret. He truly hadn’t expected that a simple bowl of Radish Soup could have almost led to a major incident.

After Du Heng said this, he continued, ”And after Professor Lan drank the Mirabilite and Radish Seed Decoction, I immediately prescribed medicine to tonify and support right qi. First, to treat the spleen and kidney deficiency, and second, to alleviate and counteract the side effects from the Mirabilite and Radish Seed Decoction.

”What about you? Did you not prescribe medicine to tonify qi? Or do you think the Western medicine you have on hand can achieve these effects?”

Du Heng snorted angrily a couple of times and was about to say more, but Director Wu suddenly interjected, ”Qian, I really must say a few words about this. Different professions are truly worlds apart. Did you see us using common items like Radish to treat illnesses and assume it was simple?

”In fact, when we use these remedies, we fully consider aspects like dosage, combinations, and any necessary follow-up measures. We are professional doctors, and we have to consider what’s best for the patient. The things we use are an essence, refined through rigorous testing and experience; it requires professional knowledge. It’s not as if just anyone can casually pick up a folk remedy and use it.

”You must be more careful in the future and not make such low-level mistakes again.”

Then he looked at Du Heng. ”Deputy Director Du, calm down. Director Qian was just trying to help the patient. With such a good method available—one that avoids surgery and prevents the patient from suffering—of course, it should be used. It’s just that his good intentions went awry, and his lack of thorough consideration led to problems.

”Next time, he must improve. If traditional Chinese medicine is needed, he absolutely must come and consult us. If something like this happens again, we certainly won’t be cleaning up his mess for him.”

Director Wu looked back and forth between the two of them. ”For my sake, let’s end this matter here today. Once we walk out of this door, no one should mention it again. As for the patient and their family, we won’t get involved. Director Qian, you can handle it yourself.”

Director Qian nodded awkwardly, his face flushed. ”Thank you, Wu. Thank you, Du... Deputy Director Du.”

Before Du Heng could respond, Director Wu chuckled. ”Alright, let’s leave it at that. Deputy Director Du, please write a prescription for Qian.”

Seeing Director Wu playing peacemaker again, Du Heng had no choice but to let it go.

However, the verbal lashing he’d just delivered right to Qian’s face—especially since the other party couldn’t talk back—felt incredibly satisfying.

Du Heng didn’t want to dwell on it. He nodded, sat down at the desk, and casually pulled out a piece of paper to write a prescription.

At this time, Director Wu said to Director Qian, ”You need to complete the necessary paperwork for me. Any documents that have been amended will require your signature for our records.

”By the way, there’s also a Special Medication Form. You need to go to the patient and make sure they sign it.”

”Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.”
