This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng pushed the prescription back to Cao Binghe. ”The reason why the house of Chinese herbal medicine needs to be formulated carefully is not just to maximize the efficacy of the medicine, but also to control the toxicity of some of the main ingredients. If it’s not prepared properly, the medicine won’t be a life-saving elixir but a deadly poison instead.”

Cao Binghe smacked his lips and grabbed the prescription back. Looking at the more than twenty different Medicine Ingredients on the prescription, he shook his head and said, ”Balancing the synergies and antagonisms of the medicines is quite a challenge. You’re attempting to treat diseases without harming the body, and you also have to ensure that the overall effectiveness of the prescription is not compromised during the formulation. Tsk, tsk. If it were simply a matter of adding or subtracting from an established formula, that wouldn’t be so bad. But looking at this house you’ve come up with, my head is really numb. There are so many Medicine Ingredients; I can’t remember them all. Not to mention we also have so many theories of diagnosis and syndrome differentiation, making my head even more muddled.”

Hearing Cao Binghe’s complaints, Du Heng could only shake his head and smile bitterly, but he still had to comfort him. ”Well, there’s no way around it. You can’t always have a TCM pharmacist by your side when treating Patients, can you?”

Cao Binghe waved the house in his hand and said with a bitter smile, ”That’s why, to reach your level, Director Du, I still need to keep working diligently, burning the midnight oil. Before I make a name for myself, I’d better stick to using Verified Prescriptions and established formulas.”

”Then use them! Our goal is to cure Patients anyway; it doesn’t matter what we use. Besides, ninety-nine percent of our TCM doctors use established formulas and Verified Prescriptions, so what if you’re one more?” Du Heng laughed. ”Not to mention, at least half of those Doctors can’t even use established formulas properly.”

”That’s true, but with the same Patient, you can cure them in three days, while if I prescribe medicine for Treatment, it takes ten days or half a month. The gap is too big,” Cao Binghe said resentfully. ”Looks like I won’t be shaking off the Slow Doctor title anytime soon.”

After saying that, Cao Binghe sighed again. ”Alright, Director Du, my doubts are resolved. I’m going now to give the medical advice for the Patient and get the medicine decocted.”

Of course, Du Heng agreed. But as Cao Binghe was about to leave, Du Heng reminded him, ”Tell the Pharmacy, this house can’t be prepared in a hurry. It must be simmered slowly over a gentle flame until the medicine is cooked thoroughly.”

Cao Binghe nodded, said he understood, and then walked away slowly.

「Over the next few days,」 Du Heng devoted all his energy to this Patient.

However, the Treatment method for this Patient was completely different from the ones used on previous Patients, so no frightening symptoms appeared. There was no bloody stool, no pus, and no sudden fainting. Instead, the Patient’s bowel movements became less dry, the smell when they urinate became less pungent, and the color of their urine was no longer so dark. Also, whereas they had previously only been able to eat one bun a day, they could now have three Meals a day and eat a little at each Meal. Most importantly, the Patient’s Pain had virtually disappeared. Especially after taking the medicine for a week, the Patient was able to sleep soundly through the evening until morning.

「At this point,」 Du Heng finally felt completely at ease, leaving the Patient in Cao Binghe’s care so he could focus on his own Things.

「In the School Dormitory,」 Du Heng was working hard in front of his computer, looking very strained, his brow constantly furrowed.

Nearby, Wu Shengnan and Du Xuejing were flipping through promotional brochures together.

After a long time, Du Heng, at his wit’s end in front of the computer, finally broke down. He couldn’t help but slam the mouse in his hand down heavily, producing a THUD.

The sound startled Wu Shengnan and Du Xuejing, who were chatting animatedly, causing them to stop their conversation.

”Husband, are you okay?” Wu Shengnan, holding her belly, turned to look at Du Heng.

Du Heng forced a smile. ”I’m fine, just a bit tired from working.”

As he spoke, Du Heng stood up from his computer and walked over to them. Looking at the large pile of promotional brochures on the table, he couldn’t help but ask, ”Have you found a place yet?”

Wu Shengnan shook her head. ”No, it’s so hard to choose. And the houses in the Capital are so expensive, especially those in good locations. A three-bedroom house here costs as much as a villa in Jinzhou.”

Du Heng couldn’t help but chuckle. ”That’s a place where every inch of land is as precious as gold; how can you compare Jinzhou to it? If it really comes down to it, we can just keep living in the Dormitory.”

Du Xuejing sat up a bit straighter. ”Little Uncle, you’re being so irresponsible! My little aunt is going to give birth soon. When the baby comes, you won’t be able to take care of them. We’ll definitely need to find a matron. The Dormitory is such a small space; there’s hardly room to turn around. And if my little aunt spends her confinement period in such a tiny place every day, she’ll definitely get depressed. Also, when My Dad and my mom come, and the grandparents on my little aunt’s side come, this tiny little place might not even fit so many people.”

Du Heng rolled his eyes speechlessly. ”Buy, buy, buy. You guys decide.”

Only then did Du Xuejing cheer up. She picked out a few places they had just selected and asked Du Heng for his opinion.

Du Heng glanced at them. Some were near Good Friend Hospital, some were near where Wu Shengnan was studying, and others were in even better locations. He just took one look at the unit prices and immediately felt his Eyes swim. Although he had a fair amount of money now, it was only enough for a large flat.

”Don’t worry about me; just pick whatever you like,” Du Heng said, his opinion amounting to nothing.

After that, the two of them paid him no mind and continued their previous discussion.

When Du Xuejing returned to her Dormitory, Wu Shengnan sat down next to Du Heng and whispered, ”Husband, are you facing some difficulties?”

Du Heng nodded. ”As you know, after I came to the Capital, I separated my Short Video Account from the Hospital. The account is in my hands now, but as you know, I don’t know the first thing about Video production. And I just can’t seem to learn it.”

Wu Shengnan thought for a moment. ”Wasn’t Xiao Kang handling it before? You can ask him to do it for you.”

Du Heng shook his head. ”It’s fine for once or twice, but it’s not right to always bother him. Xiao Kang has his own job to do, which was a problem.”

Wu Shengnan, after thinking for a moment, said, ”Aren’t there specialized companies for that? You can cooperate with them and give them your account. They’re professionals; there definitely won’t be any issues.”

”No, I can’t.” Du Heng shook his head again. ”The original intention of my account was not for profit but to be purely a science popularization account. But those companies are out to make money. We have a fundamental conflict of interest; it won’t work.”

Wu Shengnan’s eyes lit up. ”Then you can just hire someone who knows how, pay them some money, and let them help you.”

”I’m afraid they won’t be able to achieve the effect I want, or they’ll edit my content into a mess. That would be even more frustrating.”

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, Wu Shengnan became agitated. ”This won’t work, that won’t work! Then why don’t you just call Xiao Kang over and have him work with you? Honestly, you’re being so difficult.”

Du Heng took a light breath. ”I’ve considered this issue too. But there’s not much future in working with me. I can’t let him edit Videos his whole life, can I?”

Wu Shengnan paused suddenly, then shot Du Heng a look. ”Actually, I think working with you would be quite good. I remember Xiao Kang said last year that he was contractually recruited by your workplace; he doesn’t have an authorized job, and there are no development prospects for him at the Hospital. It would be better for him to just come out and work with you.”

”But what can he do with me? Really just edit Videos? That’s too...”

”Are you genuinely clueless, or just pretending to be?” Wu Shengnan said, a little annoyed. ”You need to work on your short video now, but what about your business with your Classmates in Jinzhou? Doesn’t that need to be formalized too? When the time comes, you can set up a company to handle all these miscellaneous affairs. If you trust Xiao Kang and think he’s capable, you can just entrust the Jinzhou-related Things to him as well. Wouldn’t that solve everything?”

Du Heng was a little tempted, but he said, ”Poaching talent from Dean Lu like this... isn’t that a bit much?”
