This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

UGH~~~

As soon as he entered the room, Director Huang heard the sound of vomiting.

At the same time, what greeted his eyes was a basin filled with dark red filth beneath the girl’s lowered head.

Looking at the filth in the basin, Director Huang couldn’t help but curse inwardly. If his status allowed it, he would unleash all the vile curses he had heard, learned, and accumulated over more than forty years. If this woman beside him, this woman who was still chattering incessantly like a life-hastening ghost, were his wife, he would slap her until she cried for her parents, and he wouldn’t even care if he kept his surname Huang.

Director Huang’s throat bobbed. He turned and asked the woman beside him through gritted teeth, ”Is this what you meant by vomiting large mouthfuls of blood?”

The woman said tearfully, ”Doesn’t this count? Look, they’re all blood clots the size of fingertips!”

Director Huang felt a tightness in his chest, making it difficult for him to breathe. He had no choice but to straighten his back a bit to relieve the stifling qi in his chest.

Ever since this young girl was admitted this morning, she had been constantly tugging at his heartstrings, repeatedly unsettling him. Coupled with Director Yang’s earlier mistake, Director Huang had been extremely tense. Just moments ago, the woman’s words, ’vomiting large mouthfuls of blood,’ had scared him so much his heart nearly leaped out of his throat.

But when he looked, it was just a thin layer covering the bottom of the basin. Although it was slightly more than Du Heng had mentioned, it bore no resemblance whatsoever to vomiting large mouthfuls of blood.

UGH~~

UGH~~~~~

Two consecutive dry heaves, the drawn-out kind, pulled Director Huang’s scattered thoughts back, making him involuntarily look towards the source of the sound. Just as his gaze shifted, the girl let out another long retch. This time, however, it wasn’t a dry heave. Instead, along with the sound of vomiting, out came a large mouthful of dark brownish-black clots.

How large was this mouthful? It was almost the size of a small fist.

And this amount, this could barely be considered ’vomiting large mouthfuls of blood,’ right?

Director Huang’s mind went blank. Looking at the scene before him, he suddenly recalled the woman’s earlier words.

”Director Huang, look! I wasn’t lying, was I? She *is* vomiting large mouthfuls of blood!” The woman beside him became agitated again, shouting into Director Huang’s ear.

Director Huang subconsciously rubbed his ear and glanced at the nurse bustling by the bedside. Then, he turned to the woman and said, ”Didn’t you see it’s Black Blood? I told you it’s a normal phenomenon, a normal phenomenon! Why are you always making such a fuss?”

The woman paid no mind to Director Huang’s tone and asked, ”Is it really okay? Is it truly a normal phenomenon?”

Seeing that the girl had stopped vomiting and was lying down again, Director Huang prepared to leave. ”Stop making such a fuss. If there’s a problem, our doctors and nurses will certainly inform you.”

With that, Director Huang left the hospital room and silently wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He really had been scared into a cold sweat just now.

However, after wiping his sweat, Director Huang still hesitated. The girl’s vomit was somewhat different from what Du Heng had described and what he himself had anticipated. Still uneasy, Director Huang called Du Heng over again, asking him, the doctor who prescribed the medicine, to confirm things so he could finally be at ease.

Du Heng hadn’t actually wanted to come. Although the situation Director Huang described was somewhat serious, it was still within his expectations. But he had to come. After all, Director Huang was the attending doctor, and it was also for the patient’s well-being.

After arriving, somewhat reluctantly, Du Heng observed the filth and then performed another check-up on the girl.

”The effect is excellent, far better than I anticipated,” Du Heng said in front of the patient. ”I initially thought that having undergone two surgeries and now having a cyst, her body would surely be weak, and thus her absorption of the medicine would be poorer. However, I overlooked one point: she’s young and has a good constitution. Her absorption of the medicine is much better than I predicted. The medicine has exerted nearly its full effect, so it’s normal for the reaction to be a bit more pronounced.”

Hearing Du Heng’s confirmation, Director Huang finally let out a complete sigh of relief. ”So, has the stroke been alleviated?”

Du Heng chuckled. ”The young girl is right here. Do you see her hand spasming anymore? You can also ask her if she can speak now.”

At Du Heng’s words, Director Huang couldn’t help but observe the girl. He found that her hand now looked no different from a normal person’s. This made him admire Du Heng somewhat. Although he didn’t know if the cyst issue could be resolved, judging by the filth she had vomited and her now-normal fingers, he knew Director Wu hadn’t been exaggerating. This Deputy Director Du was truly remarkable.

”It’s resolved just like that?” Director Huang looked at Du Heng. ”Aren’t strokes difficult to treat?”

Regarding Director Huang’s doubt, Du Heng chuckled lightly and replied, ”Didn’t I mention it earlier? Strictly speaking, this young girl’s condition isn’t actually a stroke. It’s internal wind stirred by acrid, hot-natured medicine, thereby creating the semblance of a stroke. As long as the internal heat is expelled and the meridians are unblocked, the issue of meridian paralysis will resolve on its own.”

Speaking of this, Du Heng became a bit more serious. ”Actually, a significant number of patients exhibiting symptoms such as hand numbness, spasms, or slurred speech are not, strictly speaking, suffering from a stroke.”
