The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 941: Chapter 941: Song the Master Roaster

After several rounds of drinks, everyone at the table had a touch of red on their faces. Even Song Ci, after two cups of fruit wine, had a rosy glow, looking quite healthy.

With the drink in hand, Old Master Song, sitting beside her, began to talk more. He glanced around as if noticing something, and suddenly slapped the table, startling everyone, causing chopsticks and wine cups to pause.

Song Ci’s temples throbbed. What’s this old man up to now?

Old Master Song hiccuped and said, ”I just thought something was off with the seating arrangement. Where’s old Fourth and his family? They might live in Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, but they are still part of the Song Family. It’s the child’s full-month celebration; shouldn’t they have been informed?”

Song Ci rolled her eyes.

How long has this feast been going on before he thought to ask about his other son? Is he thoughtful or just careless?

Song Zhicheng, smiling, said, ”Dad, while this is Brother Dan’s full-month banquet, it’s still a family gathering. How could we not inform them? But there was a military disturbance in the Commandery Princess’s camp, and she sent word that she couldn’t make it back in time. As for old Fourth, Honghong had a bit of heatstroke and diarrhea, so he didn’t dare bring him. But they did send a cartload of full-month presents.”

Old Master Song muttered an ”Oh,” smacked his lips, and said, ”I say, since the Commandery Princess has given birth to a Princely Heir, she shouldn’t be mingling with the military anymore. She should hang up her armor and return to the fields, stay home, and take care of the child properly. Always making old Fourth, a grown man, take care of the child, how does that look? He’s not a woman!”

Everyone thought the old man was looking to stir things up with the Madam.

Sure enough, Song Ci’s face had darkened.

Old Master Song seemed unaware and continued, ”Now their arrangement is all wrong. The Commandery Princess is out fending for herself while old Fourth is at home with the child. This is all backward ...”

”What’s backward about it?” Song Ci sneered at him. ”According to you, old Fourth should be off in the military camp as an instructor or a General, doing the Commandery Princess’s job? You’re clearly senile if you think old Fourth is cut out for that. You should know what he’s capable of. A weakling who can’t even lift a shoulder or carry an axe, can’t even drag a broadsword, and you think he can go to battle? You sure have high hopes for your son!”

Song Ci’s sarcasm never missed a beat.

”You, you! Is this how a mother talks, belittling her son like this, especially since he’s your youngest?” Old Master Song turned red with indignation.

Song Ci smirked coldly, ”As his mother, I know exactly what my son is capable of. Unlike some people who think too highly of themselves and have unrealistic expectations.”

”You!” Old Master Song pointed a trembling finger at her.

Song Ci casually pushed his pointed finger down and said, ”Say such things at home once, and that’s enough. Don’t say it outside, or you’ll end up a laughingstock, and there’s no way to pick up that face again.”

Old Master Song was so angry his eyes rolled back. This damned old woman, he’d divorce her!

”There’s nothing wrong with a man taking care of his kids. They’re his own children. If he has nothing to do, accompanying them as they grow can strengthen the father-son bond. What’s wrong with that? But you, spending every day with your birds and flowers, didn’t even notice the child wasn’t around until after several rounds of drinks. Do you call that being a successful father? Ha.”

Song Ci glared at him, then looked at Song Zhicheng and the other men. ”You remember this today. Whenever you can spend time with your children, do so, especially with boys. They must have a father’s guidance. Life passes quickly. One day you might realize that you haven’t held them enough, and they’ve already grown up, spreading their wings and flying away, not needing you anymore.”

The words seemed fresh, but Song Zhicheng felt a sting. Wasn’t that exactly about him?

How it pierced the heart, mother.
