The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 921: Chapter 921: Tales of the Royal Wives

”Have you heard? Today the conversation between the Emperor and Prime Minister Song was about the heir, whether the heir is the eldest, legitimate, or virtuous, depends on the Emperor’s wishes.”

Such confidential news reached the ears of several Princes, inevitably making them excited. Finally, it’s being discussed?

”Take the young master more often to pay respects to the Empress Dowager and keep her pleased,” Prince Xiao said to his Consort Xiao.

Consort Xiao pulled a corner of her mouth and said, ”The Empress Dowager doesn’t seem to like children making noise around her. Won’t it irritate her?”

Prince Xiao frowned and said, ”Who said that? Apart from Consort Zhou, who is in postpartum confinement in the capital, Consort Wu and Consort Yan consistently take their children to chat with the Empress Dowager without fail. Don’t fall behind now, it’s a crucial moment.”

Upon hearing this, Consort Xiao felt somewhat bitter. The two younger sisters-in-law must be happy, as they are their own born children.

Seeing her in a daze, Prince Xiao felt displeased and said, ”Even if the young master wasn’t born from your belly, he still calls you mother. He is the first male great-grandchild of the royal family. Don’t act foolishly.”

”My Lord, I didn’t mean that.”

”Good that you’re not. You need to understand, your glory is my glory, your loss is my loss. If you wish to be more noble, you must be generous and tolerant, show the demeanor befitting the first daughter-in-law of the emperor. If you act petty, do you think your father-in-law will value us?”

Consort Xiao, being reprimanded, turned bright red, suppressed her bitterness and anger, and said, ”Rest assured, my Lord. I will prioritize the bigger picture.”

”That’s good, then go ahead, I will go to the front to speak with the advisers.” With that, he boldly left.

Consort Xiao stayed for a moment, then smashed a teacup, bit her lip, and punched her own stomach.

Her trusted Nanny Zhong, seeing this, exclaimed in shock, and hurried over, saying anxiously, ”My Lady, what are you doing? Why treat yourself so harshly?”

”Nanny, if only my belly would bear something, I wouldn’t be in this situation. All he says is to be generous and tolerant, it’s easy for him to talk.” Consort Xiao said hatefully.

Nanny Zhong quickly covered her mouth and said, ”My Lady, you can’t just lose your temper like this. If those in the mansion hear, who knows how they might spread rumors behind your back.”

”I’d like to see them dare.”

”Can you guard them day and night? Without a legitimate son, you can’t fall out with the Prince, or those will seize the opportunity.” Nanny Zhong advised softly.

Consort Xiao bit her lip, ”Since Miss Lan came down, there’s been no sign of a child again, drank so many medicines but to no avail.”

Nanny Zhong said, ”Children are about fate. Just seize those few days, and don’t let the Prince go elsewhere.”

”I don’t know if that will work. The Prince was there those days, but...” Consort Xiao said dispiritedly, ”Go back and send a post, invite that Madam Bai over. Didn’t she say she knows some secret techniques?”

”I heard that the Song Family has two young masters with pox, afraid she won’t be able to come out soon, after all, she’s just a concubine.”

Consort Xiao snorted, ”If she’s ambitious, she’d naturally know how to find an opportunity to come out. If she can’t, can’t she ask her husband for help?”

Nanny Zhong could only coax her by agreeing.

”Call someone in to help me change, Nanny He will bring the young master here, we need to go pay respects to the Empress Dowager.” Consort Xiao suppressed her anxiety, but the thought of facing those two flaunting sisters-in-law made her increasingly irritable.
