The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 938: Chapter 938: Out of Her Mind

They all say nephews resemble their uncles, and this saying is mostly correct. Although little Dan was born later than his nephew, the faces of these two children are five to six tenths similar; it’s not an exaggeration to say they are brothers.

Everyone marveled at this; little Yu’er was born in April and is just over four months old now. Placed side by side with little Dan, he turned his head to look at the child who resembled him, curiously babbling, causing everyone to laugh heartily.

Song Ruqi felt some envy and couldn’t help but touch her abdomen, wondering when she would have such good fortune.

Song Ruqian took the opportunity to ask Song Ci how she raised her child, as it had only been a month and little Dan had transformed, showing no signs of birth difficulties.

Everyone in the room was family, and Song Ci was not secretive. She generously shared her daily child-rearing practices, assuming they would gain experience when they had children later. If not, they could pass it on to their daughters-in-law.

Madam said, ”It seems sending little Dan to his mother was the right decision.”

Song Ci smirked slightly.

Song Ruqian was somewhat speechless, thinking her mother might be out of her mind after giving birth, speaking without consideration, unbecoming if heard by her grandmother, making it seem she disfavored her young brother.

With her mother not helping, the daughter came to the rescue, and Song Ruqian smiled, ”Our grandmother is fortunate. Having him by your side is the little one’s greatest blessing. In the future, he will surely have a smooth path. If Yu’er’s grandmother didn’t miss him when she didn’t see him for a day, I would send Yu’er to stay with grandmother so he could enjoy your company and share in grandmother’s good fortune.”

Song Ci chuckled and said, ”Yu’er is the Gu Family’s eldest legitimate son, blessed enough; there’s no need for more. The principle of overabundance leading to deficiency is something you should understand.”

Song Ruqian quickly admitted her mistake.

Seeing the two children blabbering before sleeping, Song Ci instructed the nursemaids to take them away to rest while she served tea and conversed.

”Has the eldest said when he will return?” Song Ci asked Madam.

Madam replied, ”It’s said the army will depart on the third of August; at the latest, they should reach the Imperial City by the fifth.”

Song Ci nodded, knowing that the summer retreat would at most last until before Mid-Autumn since the Emperor must return to preside over the Mid-Autumn sacrifices.

Steering away from Imperial topics, she turned to Mrs. Jiang and said, ”I mentioned I would go to Songshan Temple to pray and fulfill a vow after little Dan’s first month is over. Arrange to stay a night at the estate on the afternoon of the second, and head up the mountain early on the third.”

”For offerings to the deity, this time let someone roast a golden pig to send over. After worshiping the Bodhisattva, distribute it to the poor at the foot of the mountain. Also make five baskets of red sugar buns, red eggs, and sesame candy to distribute too, spreading little Dan’s happiness among the people as a gratitude to the Bodhisattva for blessing Song Mansion with a new addition to the family.”

Mrs. Jiang quickly agreed and added, ”Mother, let me accompany you this time? The family can let Third Brother’s wife handle it first.”

”You want to go too?”

Mrs. Jiang nodded with some emotion, saying, ”I also want to light a longevity lamp for Zhao’er and pray for him.”

Everyone fell silent, recalling Song Lingzhao who had gone far away to enlist.

”Alright then.”

Song Ruqi also said at this moment, ”Grandmother, I’ll also go.”

Song Ci glanced over and saw her hand resting on her abdomen and understood, ”If you want to go, speak to your mother-in-law and come to the mansion tomorrow for departure together.”

At this point, Madam said, ”Mother, for this offering, let’s not use public funds but my dowry silver instead; it’s also for gilding Bodhisattva’s golden body.”

Having overcome her hardships, she certainly must fulfill her vow.
