The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 931: Chapter 931: What Imposing Authority Madam Holds

In front of the legitimate wife, being reprimanded by the legitimate mother in such a manner, even Song Zhiqing blushed with embarrassment and knelt down.

”Mother, please don’t be angry, if you dislike Ms. Bai, I will order her to stay in the courtyard.”

Song Ci said, ”Third Son, I know you’re not convinced, but a person’s aversion doesn’t arise without reason. In this household, not only you have a concubine; your father has consistently had two in his presence. Have I ever tormented them?”

Song Zhiqing awkwardly smiled, ”Mother, you are indeed kind and generous.”

”Kind? Even I find that hard to believe when I hear it myself. I’m not kind; I can tolerate them because they know their place and understand the meaning of being content. As for Ms. Bai, I must be blind, for I don’t see how she’s being content.”

Upon hearing this, Song Zhiqing felt somewhat unjustified on Bai Shuilian’s behalf. Since entering the household, she has mostly stayed in the courtyard or just moved around in the garden, not going around causing trouble, so how is she not content?

But with Song Ci enraged, he dared not contradict her.

”Mother, I will keep her in check.”

The words sounded nice, but Song Ci remained unconvinced in her heart, saying, ”You may rise.”

Saying more is pointless; this type of person will only reflect after hitting a major setback or crashing into a big obstacle.

Song Ci then turned to look at Ms. Lu, whose face still held an expression of satisfaction, and said, ”Lately, you’ve personally been caring for Zhou’er, and it’s been tiring. Now that Zhou’er has recovered, you can relax a bit. I’ve noticed you’ve lost quite a bit of weight, so take this time to recover, and when your vitality returns, assist your second sister-in-law.”

Ms. Lu promptly expressed, ”Since the eldest sister-in-law is still in her confinement, and I have to look after Zhou’er, household affairs have fallen on the second sister-in-law, and it’s been exhausting for her. After resting for a day, I’ll go to help her.”

”No rush, regain your strength first, your second sister-in-law is also exhausted. You know Zhao’er has enlisted in the military, and her heart aches; she also has to run the household, which is quite taxing.” Song Ci glanced sideways at Song Zhiqing, saying, ”This summer has been eventful, so I cannot tolerate any more chaos in this house, nor anyone causing disturbances.”

Neither of them dared to speak.

”Alright, you are dismissed.” Song Ci exerted her authority as the revered Madam and waved them off.

Ms. Lu then added, ”Mother, there’s one more matter. The nurse caring for the fifth child is gone; currently, only Jing Shui is looking after him. I was wondering if it’s time to add more hands? Mother, you have many experienced nannies; please be merciful and considerate towards the fifth child, and appoint an experienced, patient nanny to care for him.”

Her sincerity even made Song Zhiqing glance sideways, wondering when this woman had become so generous?

Song Ci was also very pleased with Ms. Lu’s display and said, ”In that case, let Nanny Gong appoint someone to go to You Ran Residence to specially care for the fifth child. Seeing the child turned out this way, I cannot bear it.”

Seeing her agree, Ms. Lu bowed deeply in gratitude.

Song Zhiqing also thanked her warmly, even offered some compliments, ”Mother is truly compassionate.”

”I am not fond of wearing accolades; I just cannot bear to see the child suffer. He’s so young, what can he understand? Yet he’s enduring such hardship.” Song Ci snorted lightly, intentionally hinting, ”Why should a child bear the consequences of an adult’s wrongdoings? Seeing him so naïve and foolish, it’s almost as if retribution is farcical. I’ve always said, no matter what, never harm the child, or you’ll diminish your own fortune, the child’s fortune, and retribution will eventually come.”

Ms. Lu stiffened.
