The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 936: Chapter 936: Mother and Son Reunited

Song Ruqian and the others walked into Chunhui Hall with smiles, where a room full of women uniformly greeted Song Ci.

”You’ve arrived quite together.” Song Ci smiled at everyone, her gaze falling on the face of Madam Song, supported by Song Ruqian.

After a month of recuperation, Madam Song’s complexion had improved a lot. For today’s small banquet, she had lightly applied makeup, looking more spirited.

But after all, she was getting on in years, and this pregnancy was difficult. Although she had applied powder, signs of fatigue could still be seen, far from those of the young ones.

Song Ci sighed inwardly, saying that a woman ages instantly after having a child holds some truth, as both body and mind are worn out.

Madam Song stepped forward a few steps, bowed to Song Ci, and said, ”It’s been hard on Mother for the past month; it’s my lack of filial piety.”

”There are so many people to command in the household; the most tiring thing for me is just opening my mouth to give orders, nothing else tires me.” Song Ci said with a smile, ”To say who’s really tired, it’s your two sisters-in-law; you should sincerely thank them.”

Madam Song turned back and walked over to Jiang Shi and Lu Shi, bowed to them in salute, frightening the two who quickly tried to evade.

Jiang Shi teased, ”Big sister-in-law, you’re overwhelming us; how could you bow to us and let others talk about us relying on your kindness to act frivolously?”

Lu Shi also said, ”Second sister-in-law is right, we’re all family and won’t talk about such formalities; please don’t scare us.”

Madam Song laughed and said, ”Thank you for managing the big and small matters of this household; otherwise, how would I have peace? I’ll invite you both for a drink later.”

The two laughed and agreed happily.

Song Zi clapped her hands and laughed, ”No wonder outsiders say our Song Family’s sisters-in-law are the most harmonious; seeing them getting along like real sisters—it’s no wonder they get praised, and it’s all thanks to Mother’s good management.”

Song Ci said, ”I, an old lady who barely knows a few big characters, can’t teach much; there’s just one thing—two strokes don’t write two Song characters. Brothers and sisters-in-law should support each other harmoniously; the younger generation should be loving and helpful. A family that works together, why worry about the family not thriving? A thriving family means your standing is firm, even for the daughters married off—this is the reason.”

Everyone promptly paid respects together: ”We respectfully follow the ancestral teachings.”

”Grandmother, it’s a good day today; please bring Dan to us so we can see him.” Song Ruqian said with a smile.

Song Ci tapped her nose: ”You’re impatient; the child is still nursing.”

She slightly tilted her head, without needing to give orders, and someone went to call.

Before long, Deng Shi came out, carrying Dan.

As soon as they came out, Madam Song’s eyes were glued to him, her gaze somewhat complex.

Deng Shi, too, was alert, directly bringing the child to Madam Song, bowed and greeted, ”Dan greets Mother.”

Madam Song was a bit emotional, saying, ”Quickly rise.” Her hand had already reached out.

Receiving the child, she looked down, paused for a moment, and her eyes became filled with affection.

Since the child moved to Chunhui Hall, he hadn’t left confinement yet, so Song Ci didn’t let the child walk around, and she hadn’t seen him nor demanded a visit.

Now that mother and child met again, it seemed as if a long time passed.

Looking carefully, the child was fair and plump, with bright eyes full of life; even his hair was thick and black, nurtured exceedingly well.

Compared to before, he was almost a different person.

Madam Song felt her nose tingle with emotion, about to speak, when the child met her gaze, pursed his lips as if aggrieved, and then burst out crying.

Madam Song: ”...”
