The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 908: Chapter 908: The Truth Comes to Light

Song Ci sent for Lin Qing to check Madam’s pulse.

Lin Qing spoke frankly to Song Ci, saying that Madam had intense liver fire, was restless with many dreams, sweating heavily with persistent lochia, which was not conducive to postpartum recovery.

”I originally wanted to suggest relocating the Sixth Young Master, but with the Fourth Young Master having chickenpox, the entire residence is under strict precautions, so it’s hard to say.” Lin Qing said calmly, ”I didn’t expect Madam to suggest it herself.”

Song Ci sighed, ”I thought she’d cherish this child even more since it was so difficult for her to have this one, but unexpectedly she...”

Lin Qing replied, ”It’s not an unusual matter; many mothers harbor dislike towards their children due to difficult births, thinking the child’s fate is to clash with the mother. I’ve seen it quite often in my medical practice.”

Song Ci felt a hard-to-explain uneasiness, attributing it to superstitious stubbornness.

”Please take good care of her as you see fit for treatment and medication,” Song Ci requested.

Lin Qing nodded with a smile.

Song Ci was about to say more to her when she saw Xiaoman slipping in from outside and said, ”Why are you hovering outside? If you have something to say, come in.”

Xiaoman entered, curtsied, and said, ”Madam, Fulai, who is by Third Young Master’s side in Shuanglin Hall, has come asking for your help to save Third Young Master.”

Song Ci’s eyes widened, ”Did you use the wrong words? Save?”

...

In Shuanglin Hall, Song Lingjie was lying on a spring stool, his buttocks nearly whipped to shreds, lips bitten to the point of bleeding, yet he remained silent.

”Will you speak or not? Which way did your brother go?” Song Zhicheng shouted angrily.

Upon hearing the news from his wife, he couldn’t believe his ears. What did they mean that Song Lingzhao ran away? What was all this?

Rushing to Shuanglin Hall, he saw a group of people kneeling in the courtyard, with everyone in a state of shock.

Song Lingzhao didn’t just run away; he went off to do something life-threatening.

The brat stealthily enlisted in the military!

Enlisted secretly!

Those words struck Song Zhicheng like a thunderbolt, leaving him completely stunned.

Their family pursued a civil service path, and now someone from the next generation had joined the army. Whether he’d make a career of it was uncertain; enlisting meant joining the military, and if war broke out, he’d have to go to the battlefield.

Would the boy have the life to return home alive from the battlefield?

Song Zhicheng felt a chill down to his bones and immediately sent Jiang Fula to chase after him, but only Song Lingjie knew the direction he went.

The boy, stubborn and silent as the grave, said nothing despite being threatened to death, his usually talkative mouth tight-lipped.

Song Zhicheng, seething with anger, hit him harder.

Song Lingjie’s buttocks and back began to bleed.

Jiang Shi, both angry and distressed, suppressed her trembling heart and scolded, ”You stubborn child, tell us, which way your brother went? It’s still early; hurry and bring him back.”

Song Lingjie gritted his teeth, refusing to utter a single word.

”If you don’t speak, you’re wishing death on your brother. I’ll beat the stubbornness out of you,” Song Zhicheng trembled with rage, raised the stick, and let it fall.

Crack.

Jiang Shi burst into tears.

Song Zhicheng, in a mix of urgency and anger, continued to beat, watching as the rabbit’s backside turned red along with his own eyes.

Bleeding was still better than letting the eldest die.

He raised his hand again, ready to bring the stick down, ”Alright, I’ll beat you to death.”

”Stop!”

Song Ci appeared at the scene and, seeing the situation, rushed over to shield Song Lingjie.

Song Zhicheng couldn’t stop in time, watching in horror as the stick was about to hit his mother.

Bang!
