The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 915: Chapter 915: The Mischievous Kid’s Army Enlistment Tale

”Prime Minister, the Second Lord and the Third Young Master have arrived.”

As Song Zhiyuan stepped out of the inner gate of the Palace, Fu Quan, the trusted servant guarding the exit, respectfully greeted him.

Song Zhiyuan was somewhat surprised, ”Why have the Second and Jie’er come here? Has something happened in the mansion?”

”The Second Lord didn’t say much, just that I noticed the Third Young Master seemed injured, unable to sit, rather lying down,” Fu Quan whispered from a step behind him, ”Judging from their conversation, it seems the injuries were caused by the Second Lord.”

Song Zhiyuan paused slightly, his brows lightly twitching.

The Second is not one to beat children. Whatever happened must be grave for him to resort to violence.

It certainly isn’t a simple matter.

Song Zhiyuan couldn’t help but quicken his pace.

Upon returning to his residence, Song Zhiyuan saw the father and son inside the room. Song Zhicheng, upon seeing him, glared at Song Lingjie, saying, ”Get up and kneel before your uncle.”

Song Lingjie crawled up from the resting couch and knelt on the ground with a thud, quite disobediently.

Seeing his nephew’s pale face, and the father-son duo performing such a theatrics, Song Zhiyuan’s temples couldn’t help but throb.

A rather ominous premonition.

”What’s going on? Get up and talk.”

Song Zhicheng snorted, ”Brother, let him kneel and speak.”

Song Zhiyuan shot a glance over, ”Didn’t you say he’s injured? If he kneels and the injuries worsen, wouldn’t it grieve you as the father? Stand up.”

”That’s what he deserves, I won’t feel sorry,” Song Zhicheng said with a dark expression, ”Brother, you don’t know how reckless he is. He and Zhao’er conspired, kept it from the family, and helped Zhao’er sneak off to Gansu to enlist.”

Song Zhiyuan staggered for a moment, suddenly turned to look at Song Lingjie who was about to rise, ”What, enlisting? Then it’s better you kneel.”

The mischievous act of aiding his brother in joining the military deserves a punishment of kneeling.

Song Lingjie: ”...”

Is he teasing him?

Song Zhiyuan, having long occupied a position of power, although initially shocked by the news, quickly collected himself and sat at the main seat.

”Explain, what’s this about enlisting?”

Song Zhicheng remained silent, simply went to the table to pour tea, first offering a cup to his elder brother, then sat with his own cup at his left-hand side.

Anyway, the elder brother would handle everything; he just had to listen and follow instructions.

Facing his uncle, Song Lingjie dared not conceal anything, nor play any tricks, and honestly recounted the actions he and Song Lingzhao had taken.

Song Zhiyuan sipped his tea, his face revealing neither anger nor amazement or any other emotion, as though he were hearing about something entirely unrelated to him.

Yet, sweat discreetly seeped from Song Lingjie’s forehead, his big uncle’s intangible pressure was like a mountain suffocating him, his face growing paler.

Not only Song Lingjie, even Song Zhicheng dared not breathe audibly, rather remained tense.

”Why run off to Gansu? If you wish to enlist, your fourth aunt’s barracks would certainly find a slot, or at worst, the Prince Dingbei in the Northeast, being related by marriage to our family, his army would surely be preferable to the Northwest,” Song Zhiyuan asked calmly.

Song Lingjie hesitated to speak, cautiously glancing around.

A hint of admiration flashed in Song Zhiyuan’s eyes, recognizing his nephew’s discretion, but his face remained impartial, gently saying, ”It’s fine, speak freely.”
