The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 935: Chapter 935: Dan-ge’s One-Month Banquet

On the first day of August, Madam of the Song Family had already spent a few days postpartum, suffering difficult childbirth this time, so she was given an extended recuperation period, though she was free to move around.

With the busyness of June and July weighing on Song Ci’s mind—things were not going smoothly everywhere—he decided to throw a small banquet for his grandson, Dan Ge’er, celebrating his one-month birthday to bring some joy.

Calling it a small banquet, they invited no outsiders; just the married grand-aunts of the Song Family, including Song Ruqian and Song Ruqi, who were close relatives, and the only aunt, Song Zi.

Song Ci believed that a small celebration amongst family would not neglect the little one, while also clearing away bad luck—bringing joy to all.

Song Ci also invited ’tool person’ the old Master Song back to the residence, after all these years as his legitimate grandson, the child hadn’t been seen yet.

”Go and fetch that gold-inlaid jade button for him to wear; today is a good day for our Dan Ge’er,” Song Ci said to Chun Fen with a smile.

Chun Fen took a small key hanging around her neck, went into the inner chamber, and retrieved a small wallet from a box. She poured out a jade button—a little larger than an adult fingernail—hanging from a red cord and handed it to Song Ci.

Song Ci received it and personally placed it on Dan Ge’er, touched his chubby cheeks, and with a smile said, ”Grandmother wishes you good health, peace, and happiness.”

Raising one’s own children naturally brings closeness, and Dan Ge’er seemed to understand, grinning with his red little lips at Song Ci.

Nanny Deng Shi, never taking her eyes off, remarked pleasantly, ”It seems the old Madam has the most influence; no matter how we tease him, Dan Ge’er doesn’t smile, but now just the grandmother speaks a few words, and he smiles.”

Everyone knew this was just a playful remark, but no one would spoil the fun or say anything unpleasant.

Song Ci embraced the child with a smile, ”Naturally, being direct descendants.”

Everyone joined in the fun with smiles.

Song Ci lovingly gazed at Dan Ge’er, dressed in a rich red belly band and delicate cotton clothes, eyes filled with tenderness.

Ever since the child moved to Chunhui Hall, though she needn’t personally care for him, Song Ci would visit daily to play with him. Doing so often, the staff also caught on. In the summer sun, unafraid of the coolness, the child awoke, and they would carry him to the courtyard to get some sun and pay respects to Song Ci.

It was also Song Ci’s request since the child’s complexion after birth wasn’t looking good and jaundice wasn’t fading, getting sunlight in the morning became essential, along with many other requirements.

Such as feeding from the nanny, where a hot towel must be used for cleaning, or the child’s clothes must be boiled twice and sun-dried, avoiding satin or silk; instead, thin cotton which breathes well and absorbs sweat without embroidery, as the child’s skin is delicate to prevent irritation from embroidery scratching.

Like his current outfit, pure lake blue where only a few stitches of auspicious patterns counted as decorations.

Song Ci had seemingly recorded all the demanding requirements she knew over time into a notebook and applied them to her little grandson.

In this large household, there was no shortage of people at her disposal; Song Ci gave orders for others to carry out, with Steward Hai Tang recording in a book who executed each task, making it easy to see who performed poorly or tampered with anything.

With rigorous commands from Song Ci, the staff couldn’t be lax and thus executed tasks accordingly. What was curious was that, once in Chunhui Hall, crying had ceased; Dan Ge’er merely ate, slept, played, after which he went back to eating and sleeping—steadily growing like a little pig.

Now, Dan Ge’er was quite vigorous, chubby as ever, nothing like his troubled post-birth appearance—his looks drew affection.

Feeling pride for what she raised, how could she not be proud?
