The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 924: Chapter 924: Even the Empress Dowager Has Learned to Retort

Empress Dowager Wang has lived to this age, what kind of storms hasn’t she seen? After hearing what Princess Consort Ji said, her smile faded for a moment, but quickly returned to normal.

”Eating a lychee makes you think of the late emperor, he truly didn’t spoil you in vain back then. Indeed, you should remember him, after all, he accepted you into the palace despite the opposition of all the ministers. Otherwise, who knows which kitchen you’d be busy at now, how could you be here tasting such a precious item like lychee?”

These words truly pierce the heart, like a sharp knife stabbing directly.

No wonder she’s the Empress Dowager.

Princess Consort Ji’s face turned green: ”You!”

Empress Dowager Wang continued to smile: ”However, no matter how delicious lychees are, you shouldn’t be greedy, as they are of a cold nature and overeating can cause internal heat. Look at you, how fast it shows. Feeling irritable, aren’t you?”

Pfft.

Someone couldn’t hold back and laughed out loud.

With that laugh, even if Princess Consort Ji wasn’t angry, she was now, immediately glaring over, it was a young concubine.

”Is it so funny? Which palace are you from, don’t you understand the rules?”

That young concubine turned pale with fear, trembling as she stood up, fearfully looking at Princess Consort Ji, saying, ”Your servant, your servant...”

Empress Dowager Wang said, ”Sit down, Dowager is most humorous, this is just teasing you. Isn’t that right, Dowager?”

Princess Consort Ji snorted, glaring fiercely at that concubine, and said, ”Whatever the Empress Dowager says is what it is, how can I refute it, after all, you are the Empress Dowager, the most noble woman under heaven.”

”What you said is true, a person’s fate is indeed different,” Empress Dowager Wang sighed lightly.

Princess Consort Ji: ”...”

So angry it hurts her chest.

The two ancient dignities put on quite a show, the others were entertained, knowing well in their hearts that legitimate and illegitimate were distinct, and this division couldn’t be broken anywhere.

Consort Xiao was even more reassured, no matter if she had a son or not, as long as she remained in the position of the proper wife, no matter what honor in the future, legitimate would always be revered.

At that moment, a child began to cry, and Princess Yan and others suggested taking their leave.

Princess Consort Ji looked at those little swaddling babies, feeling very envious, and then thought of Prince Min Mansion, where no matter primary or secondary, almost half a year after marriage, not a single egg had been laid.

Empress Dowager Wang, feeling quite satisfied with her words, took a sip of tea, noticing Princess Consort Ji’s expression, and said, ”Speaking of which, it’s been almost half a year since Prince Min’s wedding, how come there’s still no good news?”

Princess Consort Ji let out a cold laugh, how could there be none, don’t you know in your heart?

If it weren’t for deliberately arranging such a marriage, wouldn’t there at least be one legitimate grandson?

”Don’t only prioritize the legitimate, the secondary are also the Royal Family’s children, as long as it’s royal blood, all are noble and precious.” Empress Dowager Wang said, ”Prince Min is of this age, if he only has one son, that would be unreasonable, I shall select a couple of fertile concubines to serve him.”

Princess Consort Ji was infuriated, replying stiffly, ”There’s no need for the Empress Dowager to worry, there are already enough concubines in the mansion.”

”No matter how many, if they can’t lay eggs, what’s the use?”

Princess Consort Ji couldn’t take it anymore, standing up angrily, saying, ”Empress Dowager.”

Empress Dowager Wang looked innocent as she held her chest, wondering what all the fuss was about.

Everyone looked over, Princess Consort Ji took a deep breath, and said, ”I just remembered I have other matters, excuse me.”

She didn’t even wait for Empress Dowager Wang to respond, just flung her sleeves and left, truly entering and exiting like the wind.

Empress Dowager Wang watched her leave and said to the remaining women in the hall, ”I’ve heard from Madam Song that as women age, they become temperamental and easily irritable, they call it menopause. Seems Dowager has reached that age too, truly time spares no one.”

Princess Consort Ji, who hadn’t walked far, stumbled, almost rolling down the stairs.
