The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 929: Chapter 929: One Clever, One Foolish

Song Ci played with Song Lingyi for a while, his face turned grim, and he solemnly instructed someone to fetch Lin Qing.

Everyone saw the displeased expression on his face and didn’t dare to breathe loudly, feeling somewhat anxious inside.

Lin Qing arrived shortly, accompanied by her maid and medical kit, bowing in greeting to Song Ci.

”Imperial Physician Chen said both of Zhou’er and his brother are recovering well. I’m getting old, and I don’t feel assured without checking personally. Ah Qing, please examine Zhou’er and his brother’s pulse.”

Lin Qing smiled and agreed, starting with Song Lingzhou. After a thorough examination, she withdrew her fingertips and began to explain in medical terms, describing symptoms like a weak and floating pulse, a deficiency of both qi and blood, requiring calming and quiet recuperation.

Lin Qing also looked at the medical formula prescribed by Imperial Physician Chen, examined it carefully, and said, ”Imperial Physician Chen’s prescription is excellent, tailored specifically for children’s recuperation. He is better than me at treating children’s ailments. Just follow this prescription. Recovery takes time; I’ll check the Young Master’s pulse again in a while and prescribe some medicinal dietary recipes.”

Lu’s heart was relieved, and she quickly thanked Lin Qing.

Lin Qing then turned her attention to Song Lingyi. The moment she looked at the child, a trace of pity appeared in her eyes, suggesting she had already heard the rumors.

However, the time she took to examine Song Lingyi’s pulse was noticeably longer, and her brows furrowed more deeply.

”What’s wrong?” Song Ci already sensed something might be amiss.

Lin Qing withdrew her hand, played with Song Lingyi for a bit, and glanced at Song Zhiqing, saying, ”When the Young Master broke out in rash, I heard he had a high fever that couldn’t be reduced?”

Song Zhiqing quickly looked at Jing Shui.

Jing Shui, who had lost weight enduring the ordeal, nodded: ”We tried everything, but the fever would subside a little only to flare up again. We struggled for two days, and in just a moment of inattention, the Young Master scratched his face. It’s a fault deserving of death for me.”

Lin Qing then looked at Song Ci and said, ”Persistent high fevers in children are troublesome, as the intense heat may cause convulsions, severely affecting the brain. The Young Master’s responses are obviously slower compared to average children, I’m afraid...”

Song Zhiqing said sharply, ”Are you saying the sixth child has turned into an idiot?”

”There’s a significant possibility; even with careful nurturing, even if he learns a bit, his reactions will likely be slower than normal.”

In the end, it means becoming a fool.

”Imperial Physician Chen probably mentioned it as well,” Lin Qing added.

Jing Shui said bitterly, ”Imperial Physician Chen indeed mentioned it in passing, but we servants thought that this was due to the fatigue of recovering from a severe illness, which can cause slow responses.”

”It’s not out of the realm of possibility,” Lin Qing’s voice was gentle, ”Let him recuperate first, take some prescribed formulas, and once his vitality improves, examining the pulse will reveal the truth.”

Though intended to console, everyone looked at the silent, drooling Song Lingyi and was already aware of the reality; this bout of illness had turned the young master into a fool.

Lu’s had a brief moment of schadenfreude, but upon lowering her head and seeing her son’s tearful eyes, she immediately composed herself, placing a hand on his shoulder with a firm grip, feeling a sense of relief.

Song Zhiqing looked ashen.

He only had two sons, and now one might have become mentally challenged. Could Song Zhiqing truly have a foolish son?

”How is this possible? Zhou’er recovered fine, but with Yi’er, how did it turn into this?”

Song Zhiqing felt utterly distraught.

Song Ci unclipped a peace charm from his clothing and personally affixed it to Song Lingyi’s clothes, gently touching his head, saying, ”This charm, given by the ancestors, will protect you for a safe and peaceful future.”
