The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 907: Chapter 907: Where Has Your Brother Gone to Cause Trouble?

Jiang, born into a merchant family, might not be considered suitable for upper-class families with their pretentious airs, but her past experience in helping manage business had broadened her horizon, shaping her into a straightforward and clear-headed person. She was also self-aware enough not to fight with the Lady for the household management rights like some others would without understanding their place.

It was precisely this refusal to contend that made her likable and trustworthy. Her lack of contention was due to her status, not a lack of ability. She had the demeanor and skills of someone raised as an heir, ready to manage the household when needed.

So now, with the Madam as the current mistress of the house having stepped aside, and Lu having also dropped the ball, even though managing such a large family was exhausting, it was not an impossible task for Jiang to take over.

This is why people say Jiang is quite remarkable.

Now she has learned some ways from Song Ci and is even thinking that when her daughter-in-law enters the family, she will relinquish power and live as the Old Lord did.

Song Ci thought to himself that Jiang truly was a wise person. Wise people have always lived a clear and comfortable life and have a happy old age.

”Zhou’er is now in the crucial stage of erupting with pox. Lu is absolutely tied up, and your elder sister-in-law is even more so,” Song Ci mentioned Madam with a hint of sigh in his tone.

Jiang’s heart stirred as she carefully asked, ”Why did Sister-in-law move Deng Ge’er to your place?”

”Deng Ge’er has been crying frequently, irritating her. She cannot properly recuperate from childbirth, which isn’t good. If a woman doesn’t recuperate well, she’ll suffer for it later. Moving him here is no big deal,” Song Ci said calmly. ”It’s just that she can’t figure it out and keeps thinking about the difficult birth she had.”

Jiang, having gone through it herself, immediately caught a different meaning; it seemed her sister-in-law thought Deng Ge’er was a burden.

However, as the younger sister-in-law, she dared not speak ill behind their backs and only smiled, ”That’s why Mother always loves her daughters-in-law; we’re fortunate to have that.”

Song Ci didn’t say much more and simply asked, ”Has Jie’er returned from the palace yet?”

”Yesterday, someone sent a message saying that His Highness wouldn’t let him leave,” Jiang replied helplessly.

Song Ci didn’t give it much thought and said, ”He’s staying longer this time. What about Zhao’er?”

Jiang said, ”He got a new weapon and has been holed up in his room studying it. I haven’t seen him for days.”

”Pay attention to the children regarding Zhou’er’s pox, so they don’t catch anything,” Song Ci advised.

Jiang quickly agreed.

After chatting with Song Ci for a while, Jiang took her leave, intending to return directly to her courtyard. Remembering Song Ci’s words, she changed direction and headed to her two sons’ courtyard.

She hadn’t come to check in for several days. What mischief were those little brats up to?

Song Lingjie was in his elder brother’s room, up to no good. Just as he picked up a military strategy book, he heard someone outside announce the Second Madam’s arrival.

Rip.

Song Lingjie’s hand shook, tearing a page from the book, and his face turned a bit pale.

What is meant to happen will happen, no avoiding it.

He glanced at his brother’s loft and swiftly sneaked up there.

Meanwhile, as Jiang entered the room, she heard some noise from the loft.

With a glance at her eldest son’s secret hideout, Jiang harrumphed softly, ”What are you up to, monkeying around there? Your mother is here, come greet her immediately.”

”Mother?” Song Lingjie’s voice came from the loft, mumbling, ”I’ve got ink on my pants and just took them off, please go out.”

Jiang: ”...”

She spat, intending to leave, but suddenly felt something was off. She stopped, turned, and headed for the loft.

Song Lingjie’s face turned bitter; there was no escaping it. The loft door was opened from the outside, and he revealed his brother’s brown-nosing face with a wide grin.

Jiang’s eyes narrowed slightly. ”Where did your brother go causing mischief?”
