The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 751: Chapter 751: Criticizing the Old Man

Song Ci gathered a few Yangzhou slender horses in her courtyard, and now everyone in the various quarters knows about it.

In the main courtyard, Song Ruqi was a bit puzzled. Why didn’t Grandmother drive them away, and instead kept them?

”Mother, could it be that Grandmother plans to place these vixens in your and Second Aunt’s rooms in the future?” After her mother-in-law’s incident of placing people, Song Ruqi held a somewhat skeptical view of all mothers-in-law in the world.

Madam gave her a reproachful look and said, ”If your grandmother were that kind of person, she would have already placed people in our rooms long ago. Yet, even after I gave birth to your sister and you, she never placed anyone here. Now, she would not do so, and even if she did, it wouldn’t be such vixens. Don’t think so badly of your grandmother.”

Song Ruqi awkwardly said, ”I just don’t understand. If they are not to be given to Father and them, then why keep them?”

Madam’s expression turned slightly serious: ”These people were brought back by your grandfather. Your grandfather is a bit muddle-headed and didn’t think much about their background. Your grandmother is probably keeping them to wait for your father’s return to handle it.”

Song Ruqi frowned and said, ”Mother, do you mean someone perhaps dislikes our Prime Minister’s Mansion being so prosperous and wants to use these slender horses to cause trouble?”

”These matters generally revolve around such schemes, and in many mansions, the troublemakers are often women,” Madam took the opportunity to teach her, ”Your husband is also an official in the court and is likely to become a target for some. In dealing with such people, you must not panic or act rashly. Think things through carefully, and if you still don’t understand, ask your husband, or if necessary, come back to your maternal home and inquire.”

Song Ruqi felt her face warm up and said, ”Mother, you are right. I am still too young.”

”You’ve only just been a wife for just over a year, take your time to learn,” Madam said, touching her abdomen, ”Today, I was careless, couldn’t control my emotions, and almost caused a big problem.”

Song Ruqi also touched her belly and said, ”You can’t be blamed for that, Mother. Women are naturally tender, especially in situations like this where it’s hard to avoid getting emotional. The fact that you could employ a delaying strategy was good. Who would have thought a dignified father-in-law would place people in his daughter-in-law’s room, that’s surely something typical of a mother-in-law, isn’t it?”

Her grandfather meddles in things not normally done by men, like managing his son’s affairs, showing how idle he is.

Madam chided, ”He is still your grandfather. It’s fine to say that here, but outside, you shouldn’t despise him this way. After all, he is your legitimate grandfather, and speaking like this could make others say you’re unfilial.”

”I understand.”

”Did you visit the three-day bath ceremony today? How are your sister and the child?”

”They’re doing well. The child has been given the formal name Mingyu, and he looks very handsome, inheriting all the best features of his parents. Sister said she will bring the child to kowtow to you after the full month.” Song Ruqi laughed.

Madam felt relieved seeing her speak lightly and touched her face, saying, ”Qi’er, it’s good that you’ve let go. Your spirit is much better now, and you should start preparing to cook those recipes with your husband.”

Waiting another year is too long. It’s already been half a year, and since her miscarriage, it may not be as easy as the first pregnancy. Preparing now is just right.

Song Ruqi felt a bit shy and nodded, ”Elder sister said the same.”
