The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 765: Chapter 765: There Are Always Dissatisfactions in Life

Song Ci fell into an eerie silence after seeing Lu Ming’s arm.

Where there should have been an arm, there was now only an empty sleeve tied at the waist, and she understood where Princess Anping’s dissatisfaction lay.

What mother who truly loves her daughter doesn’t wish for her to marry a suitable, perfect husband? But the other party was disabled; how could the noble Princess Anping be satisfied?

The status of the Princely Heir of Marquis Jing’an Mansion is esteemed, but is the Commandery Princess Shou Ning not also esteemed?

To pair someone more noble than the Princely Heir with a disabled husband, how could the princess be willing?

Yet, unwilling as she might be, it was settled. Considering it was the Emperor who decreed the marriage, it could only mean a political alliance.

Song Ci looked at Princess Anping, at a loss for comforting words; what could she say that wouldn’t seem hollow?

”Was it the Emperor who decreed the marriage?” she could only whisper.

Princess Anping forced a smile and nodded.

”Didn’t you go to plead with the Empress Dowager?” Song Ci did not dare encourage her to defy the decree; after all, though the Emperor respected her, she was merely the mother of a minister.

Princess Anping’s voice was calm: ”How could I dare? Shou Ning was born under my name, and she also carries half the bloodline of the Imperial Family. Having enjoyed the fortune of the Imperial Family, she must also accept this arrangement.”

Song Ci had nothing to say, only licking her lips.

It is indeed the truth that as much fortune one enjoys, just as much responsibility one bears. An arranged marriage is the duty of a Noble Lady receiving familial protection and upbringing.

”Has Commandery Princess Shou Ning been informed?” Song Ci felt a bit sorry for the bright young girl.

Not to say that the Princely Heir of Marquis Jing’an Mansion wasn’t good, but he was missing an arm. To put it bluntly, he couldn’t embrace his wife with both arms. What woman wouldn’t feel regret?

What woman wouldn’t want her husband to be whole and her marriage to be perfect?

Princess Anping nodded: ”She locked herself in her room for two days, then secretly went to meet Lu Ming and returned saying she was willing to accept the marriage decree.”

”She is willing?” Song Ci asked in surprise.

”Indeed. That silly girl said she was willing to marry and wouldn’t regret it.” Princess Anping felt some heartache, letting out a bitter laugh, ”I don’t even know what she and Lu Ming talked about, but when she came back, she said he wasn’t bad. I can’t tell if she’s truly sincere or pretending.”

Song Ci thought for a moment, then said, ”If that’s the case, Your Highness can rest assured. Regardless, Commandery Princess Shou Ning will surely lead a life full of harmony and beauty.”

”Oh?”

”You see, she is a young girl who dared to meet and speak with the Princely Heir of Marquis Jing’an Mansion and even personally agreed to the marriage, showing her resilience. With a resilient heart and a bright, cheerful nature, she won’t lead a poor life.” Song Ci smiled, ”Even if it’s less than ideal, marriages are rarely perfect. The rarest trait in a person is clarity and openness; with such traits, how could she be overwhelmed by difficulties? So, I dare say, the Commandery Princess will certainly have a good future.”

Princess Anping’s brows eased slightly: ”I hope your words come true.”

”Please rest easy. Since the Emperor bestowed the marriage, he likely feels some guilt and will surely protect her in the future, as will the Empress Dowager and you. You see, who would dare look down on Commandery Princess Shou Ning in Marquis Jing’an Mansion? Including her future children, they will always receive a bit more affection.”

Matching a niece with a disability, the Emperor must have felt some guilt and recompense. As long as it isn’t excessive, the descendants of Commandery Princess Shou Ning will live in peace.

Princess Anping thought this was reasonable and gratefully smiled at Song Ci, saying, ”You really know how to comfort people.”

Song Ci replied, ”Not at all, it’s just that in life, regardless of status, there will always be times when we have no control or face dissatisfaction. It all depends on how one views it.”
