The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 779: Chapter 779: A Son Should Be Like Song Xiao’er

On the matter of rescuing the young prince, Song Lingzhao truly didn’t lie. Just after the flag-raising ceremony, there were assassins, and chaos ensued all around, with everyone scrambling to escape.

At that time, he also thought of escaping, and not far into his flight, he saw that kid thrashing in the water then stopped moving, so he jumped in, pulled the person out, and continued to run.

As for whether the person was dead or alive, he didn’t care.

And later on, that’s how it was. Can such a happenstance truly count as an achievement?

He thought that achievements were only counted by fighting on the battlefield and taking heads. He had imagined countless scenarios where he would accomplish feats of valor. When he had the chance to go into battle in the future, he would definitely fight bravely, decapitate the enemy, and hang the heads at his waist, waiting for the war to end so he could be rewarded for his merits.

Imagining a string of swaying heads at his waist, how grand it would be.

Alright, the imagery is too strong. Best not to say it aloud and scare people.

Song Lingzhao said boldly, ”Your Majesty, it was all incidental. Whether it’s an achievement or not, I was just participating in a dragon boat race with my team reaching first place. It was a collective effort, and I can’t take all the credit alone. As for saving the young prince, without my grandmother’s guidance, it would have nothing to do with me. So, if there’s any credit, it should go to my grandmother.”

Song Ci was gratified, you did not disappoint me.

Just don’t know if this achievement can be remembered? Want to accumulate achievements.

Emperor Chu smiled, ”If your grandmother has credit, then so do you.”

Upon hearing this, Song Lingzhao was a bit pleased and said, ”I have credit, too? Your Majesty is really going to reward me?”

”The Emperor’s promise is worth a thousand pieces of gold,” Emperor Chu did not feel at all regretful for being questioned.

Song Lingzhao licked the corner of his mouth and said, ”Actually, I don’t really want anything. I am a citizen of the Great Qing, and it’s my responsibility to exert my efforts for Your Majesty.”

Such a responsibility.

Your family’s ability to flatter, Prime Minister Song, is truly inherited, one after another so skilled at flattery.

Song Zhiyuan appeared very composed, shall we learn about the strong producing more strong?

Emperor Chu was also quite gratified. If all citizens were like this, why would he worry about not expanding the territory of Great Qing?

”Your Majesty, if you really intend to reward me, can you grant the merits that belong to me to my parents?” Song Lingzhao glanced at his parents and said.

Emperor Chu was surprised, ”Your parents?”

Song Zhicheng and Jiang were also somewhat astonished.

Song Lingzhao scratched his head and said, ”My father has three brothers. Let’s not talk about my youngest uncle; he became a Commandery Princess’ husband, living quite prosperously. My fourth aunt is a Commandery Princess, the eldest aunt and third aunt are both Imperial Decrees, but only my father and mother.”

”My father is a commoner, and my mother is of merchant descent. In terms of status, she is of the lowest rank. Although we brothers will all strive for her to earn an Imperial Decree, that will take a long time. Can you use my merits to grant my mother an Imperial Decree, so she can have a status and not be looked down upon everywhere? And my little sister wouldn’t have to worry about being despised either.”

The other women were stunned, looking at Jiang with complex expressions.

A mere merchant’s daughter, what luck, though married to a commoner, her husband’s family is influential, far from lacking, and her husband maintains a clean reputation, with only her in the house, it’s said.

More importantly, the merchant daughter Jiang lacks nothing in money, love, nor offspring, having borne a pair of twin boys and a girl. The little son is the study companion of the Crown Prince, and the elder one, well, just look at him, and listen to him.

Using his own achievements to give his mother an Imperial Decree, such a gesture surpasses countless silver, indeed a son worthy of being Song Xiao’er.

Jiang was also dumbfounded, looking at her eldest son, her eyes reddened, truly a dear son, those two days and nights of pain back then were not in vain.

Song Zhicheng was equally moved, and amid the gratitude was a tinge of shame, but mostly comfort.

Didn’t raise him wrong, that’s truly great!
