The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 761: Chapter 761 Song Ci: I am the Top Trendsetter

There are no secrets in the Capital, and the fact that the Song Family Patriarch brought a few lean horses back to the Prime Minister’s Mansion was soon discovered by those with a keen nose and became common knowledge, but in the end, it came to nothing.

Why is this?

Oh, it’s said that the Song Matriarch claimed those lean horses for herself.

You heard it right, claimed them for herself. It’s said the old lady has them perform songs, dances, and play the zither for her every day, even having the one with the sweetest voice recite and copy scriptures for her. Her days couldn’t be more comfortable.

As the saying goes, one passes to ten, ten passes to a hundred. Some sneered, some ridiculed, some looked down upon it, while others secretly worshipped.

Daring to snatch slim ponies to serve oneself from her husband and son, a role model for us all.

Some even subtly wanted to witness the grand downfall of the Song Minister’s Mansion, but once the old lady had her way, nothing happened, so everyone scattered and went about their business.

No matter what, Song Ci made headlines again.

To the extent that everywhere she went, she was met with stares and whispers, especially at grand events.

On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival in May, Song Ci walked leisurely to her family’s viewing spot, holding onto Nanny Gong’s hand. Behind her were a few boys from the household, along with Song Ruwei and a few daughters-in-law, even Song Zhicheng was present.

It’s worth mentioning that this boy Song Lingzhao was also there to participate in the dragon boat race. Song Ci and Madam Jiang were worried about him, so naturally, they had to come and watch over their little one.

”...When you’re famous, no matter where you go, you’re a beautiful sight. Just like me. Nanny Gong, tell me, don’t you think everyone in the Capital should know me, the grand madam, by now?” Song Ci waved to the onlookers with one hand, while holding onto Nanny Gong.

Today, she is the top-ranking grand lady, and there’s no room for argument.

Nanny Gong held her firmly with both hands, saying coolly, ”Of course, after all, you’re the first lady to raise lean horses.”

”Oh ho, I detect some veiled sarcasm.” Song Ci gave her a sidelong glance, ”Nanny Gong, your courage is growing, huh.”

”Watch your step, there are stairs.” Nanny Gong cautiously reminded her and added, ”Even if my courage grows, it’s because you’ve spoiled me.”

”Blame me, huh. Raising lean horses isn’t much of anything, just like keeping a few actors by my side. After all, they’re both talented and skilled, learned through their own merits, nothing more.” Song Ci ascended the stairs, ”Raising lean horses is definitely better than keeping male favorites.”

Someone not far away stumbled upon hearing this, cried out, and twisted an ankle.

But that injury was nothing compared to what they just heard; this grand madam was truly astonishing.

Nanny Gong glared at her, urging her to zip it, ”Do you want to turn as red as a giant shrimp?”

Song Ci chuckled awkwardly, glancing around their viewing pavilion.

In order to conveniently watch the spectacular dragon boat race, pavilions were set up and high platforms constructed on both sides of the canal, somewhat like the kind you see at concerts back in the day, but not entirely the same.

It’s said that in the Capital, there is a rather famous coliseum that’s circular, built tier upon tier.

Song Ci clicked her tongue in admiration, thinking about how much money had been spent on a dragon boat race, how the nobles dressed extravagantly, all adorned with Five Poison Fragrance Bags, and wore joyful smiles on their faces.

While, presumably, in some places, people would agonize over every penny spent.

The disparity in wealth and status is vast, as it always has been throughout history.

Song Ci shook her head, choosing not to dwell on these thoughts. Everyone has different fates, for better or worse, so why be a compassionate saint?

The Song family’s viewing pavilion was among the top ranks of the nobility, right next to the Imperial family’s area. There’s no helping it—the Song Mansion is in the limelight.
