The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 789: Chapter 789: Have You Been Possessed by Song Duidui?

Seeing an object coming towards her, Princess Consort Min instinctively raised her hand to block it. The oak backscratcher hit her forearm and then fell to the ground.

Princess Consort Min lowered her gaze to the backscratcher at her feet, touched her arm, and calmly walked towards the Imperial Concubine Ji. She placed her hands at her waist and respectfully bowed.

”Consort Mother.”

Concubine Ji glanced over with schadenfreude and said coolly, ”Princess, are you wearing such plain clothes because they fit the occasion, or are you cursing the Consort Mother? Those attending you are quite careless, aren’t they?”

Princess Consort Min looked at her own attire and replied indifferently, ”It’s merely a slightly plain blue, how is that a curse? As the Buddha said, what you see reflects what’s in your heart. If Concubine Ji doesn’t understand, I have a few Buddhist scriptures and can have someone send them to you. There’s no harm in thumbing through them more often.”

Concubine Ji turned green in the face, ”You!”

Princess Consort Min no longer looked at her, only at the Imperial Concubine Ji, ”Does Consort Mother think the daughter-in-law spoke correctly?”

The Imperial Concubine Ji normally doesn’t worship the Buddha or eat vegetarian, so how would she know what the Buddha said?

She simply couldn’t stand Princess Consort Min preaching with such airs, so she sneered coldly, ”There’s no need to show off in front of me. With elders in the family doing well, you’re wearing such plain clothes to greet them, just to annoy people. What, is this the conduct taught by the Xia family? Simply senseless.”

Princess Consort Min: ”Consort Mother, the daughter-in-law usually doesn’t like flashy attire, preferring plainness. Perhaps because I don’t often appear before Consort Mother, you aren’t aware.”

The Imperial Concubine Ji choked on her words.

In fact, since marrying in, Princess Consort Min has dutifully fulfilled her role as a daughter-in-law. Apart from household management, she never missed greeting the elders at morning and dusk, consistently.

As for the Imperial Concubine Ji, hoping to put her in her place, often sent her away without seeing her.

”You do have a sharp tongue, seems like you don’t regard me as your mother-in-law at all.”

Princess Consort Min raised her gaze, ”Naturally, that’s not the case.”

The Imperial Concubine Ji glared in anger.

Concubine Ji was also extremely astonished. Could it be that the Xia family lost a few members, driving her insane?

Before the Imperial Concubine Ji could say anything, Princess Consort Min continued, ”The daughter-in-law always keeps Consort Mother in her heart.”

The two of them: ”...”

The Imperial Concubine Ji was so angry that her chest tightened, feeling somewhat dazed. Is this woman’s tongue always this sharp?

Why did it feel like facing that old lady Song Ci? It’s as if Song Duidui has possessed her.

This must be an illusion.

She’s been traumatized by Song Ci, so anyone with a sharp tongue appears like her.

Song Ci: Heh, unjustly implicated!

”Did you summon the daughter-in-law for something, Consort Mother?”

The Imperial Concubine Ji came back to her senses. Yes, why did she call her here?

She forgot.

”I heard there were assassins at the dragon boat race outside. Why didn’t you return with Ze’er? You neither serve your husband nor your clan wholeheartedly. Have you forgotten your current status? You are Princess Consort Min and should fulfill your responsibilities as a Princess Consort.”

Princess Consort Min slightly curtsied, ”Consort Mother’s reprimand is right, the daughter-in-law dares not forget.”

Seeing her so compliant, the Imperial Concubine Ji was momentarily at a loss for words. Seeing her expressionless face, like one in mourning, just made her feel more troubled.

”Alright, alright, leave. Seeing your lifeless face is just bad luck.”

Wan Chun was a bit dissatisfied but did not dare to make a sound.

Princess Consort Min bowed, ”Then the daughter-in-law takes her leave, please take care of your health, Consort Mother.”

The Imperial Concubine Ji thought to herself that just seeing her face made her feel suffocated, let alone maintaining any semblance of well-being.
