The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 618: Chapter 618: Need to Have a Talk with the Empress Dowager

Princess Consort Ji awaited the Prince’s son with some unease. Once he had performed his greeting and sat down, she hurriedly asked, ”The Emperor didn’t give you any trouble, did he?”

Prince Min smiled, ”Mother, don’t worry. How could the Emperor trouble me?”

Princess Consort Ji awkwardly replied, ”It’s not that I am afraid he would take the Ji Family’s improper behavior and find an excuse to rebuke you?”

”Nothing of that sort. It was merely a request for me to restrain the Earl Anle Mansion.”

Princess Consort Ji’s heart tightened, and she cautiously said, ”Ze’er, it’s all because of my incompetence and poor background that you’ve suffered disdain.”

”Mother, such words unfairly belittle your son. A child never finds his mother lacking, and one’s birth is not something anyone can choose.” Prince Min smiled warmly, ”Mother, please don’t say such things again, or it will make your son feel ashamed.”

Princess Consort Ji was deeply moved, her eyes slightly moist, and said, ”My son is good, only it’s a pity you weren’t born from the Empress. Otherwise, who knows who would be sitting on the throne now.”

”Mother, speak carefully.” Prince Min lowered his eyes, concealing the emotions within them, ”As long as I am myself, it doesn’t matter whose womb I was born from.”

However, Princess Consort Ji didn’t understand, only thinking about the Ji Family’s actions, said, ”Ze’er, the Ji Family just can’t shake off their lowly habits. I’ve scolded them harshly, you...”

”The Ji Family is your maternal clan, since they raised you, they deserve to enjoy the glory, but Mother doesn’t need to restrain them too much. The Ji Family, as such, is merely a bit unruly, but it’s harmless.” Prince Min had an indescribable expression in his eyes.

Princess Consort Ji paused for a moment, a little confused.

”Mother, your maternal clan doesn’t need to be too powerful, this way we, mother and son, can continue living.”

Princess Consort Ji’s face changed dramatically, her lips trembled.

”What, what are you saying?”

Prince Min grasped her hand, smiled reassuringly, ”Mother, don’t be afraid, I am here.”

Princess Consort Ji opened her mouth, her face pale. Only after a while did she take a deep breath and change the subject, ”As for the Princess’s choice, Mother has taken a liking to...”

Prince Min interrupted her, ”Mother, you don’t need to worry about the choice of the Princess. The Emperor will bestow the marriage.”

Princess Consort Ji was full of astonishment, ”The Emperor bestowing marriage? But, since our mother and son will invite their suspicion, how could the Emperor bestow a good marriage? This won’t do; I will go into the palace and discuss this with Empress Dowager Wang.”

It’s too much. They’ve already claimed the throne; must they also interfere in my son’s marriage?

Prince Min stopped her, guiding her back to sit on the Arhat bed, ”Mother, I’m at least a Prince. The choice of the Official Wife won’t be too disgraceful and might even be somewhat illustrious.”

But there won’t be any significant support, for instance, families that have already fallen or are on the decline, otherwise, how could the Emperor be at ease?

Princess Consort Ji was stunned, feeling greatly wronged, ”Ze’er, this is too unjust for you.”

”As for the Princess, as long as she can be filial to you, manage the household, and educate the children, nothing else matters.”

Hearing these words, Princess Consort Ji was immensely touched once again.

”If the bestowed choice isn’t good, I will put this old face on the line and go to the Empress Dowager to get you a different one.” She gritted her teeth and said.

Prince Min smiled faintly, consoled her for a while, and coaxed her with some pleasant words before leaving the main hall.

Standing in front of the hall, looking at the dark gray sky overhead, he heard the faint sound of Princess Consort Ji and her confidant grumbling inside. His lips curled indistinctly.
