The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 607: Chapter 607: Comparing with Others Can Be Maddening

If Empress Dowager Wang were here, she would definitely clap her hands in delight, praising my old best friend’s formidable presence, saying she leaves others speechless, with no ability to fight back.

Look, aren’t the Ji family women completely baffled?

Song Ci found it somewhat boring, feeling that the opponent’s intelligence wasn’t even online, making the victory feel undeserved.

Such a Versailles moment!

But Princess Consort Ji was a bit more experienced, and from Song Ci’s words to her family’s behavior, she caught a whiff of sarcasm. Good heavens, they were mocking the Ji family’s ignorance of protocol.

Why ignorant of protocol? Ever since Song Ci arrived, those whose ranks weren’t higher than hers should stand up and greet her; this is a matter of respect and hierarchy.

Yet her own sister-in-law and niece-in-law didn’t, their behinds staying glued to the chairs.

Even with her protection, to others it looked different. It was inevitable that people would say the Ji family was unruly and disregarded ranks.

Princess Consort Ji felt a bit of ”hate iron for not becoming steel,” yet she couldn’t stand Song Ci mocking her family like that, so she glared at the palace maid beside her and scolded, ”You blind thing, Song Madam has been here for quite some time, why haven’t you offered her a seat and tea? Can’t you see she’s parched?”

Talking non-stop, how could she not be parched?

Song Ci looked at her refusing to mention the matter of greetings, and with a half-smile, glanced over without insisting they rise and perform a greeting for her.

She said those words not to make them greet her, but to mock them. As for the effects, one could tell from the secretly scornful looks of those around.

Those who understood, understood. Those who didn’t would come to understand later.

Princess Anping also felt a bit speechless. Truly, comparing people to people is infuriating. Both of humble origins, but why is the gap so wide?

The Song Mansion’s development over the past decades has made them appear as new nobility. Their etiquette and manners are well observed, their children well-bred; the next generation of Song daughters all marry well, and as for the sons, they are still young for now, but it’s said that the Prime Minister Song’s son has studied under Grandmaster Fu, and the Third Young Master Song is the study companion to the Crown Prince, making their future achievements inevitable.

And what of Earl Anle Mansion?

Few men have achieved anything, yet they excel in eating, drinking, playing, and other leisurely activities. The mansion isn’t short of concubines, not to mention the lovers outside. As for the daughters, thinking of the overly affected manners of the Ji family daughters she just saw, she preferred not to comment.

Clearly, learning and understanding are extremely important, and the upbringing of children is paramount for a family. Otherwise, even with a good background, one only attracts gossip and becomes a laughingstock.

Just like the Ji family daughter-in-law in front of her, unable to recognize sarcasm when they hear it. Are they stupid or foolish? And what kind of daughters could such a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law raise?

Princess Anping glanced at Song Ci beside her with a bit of regret. The Song family had too few daughters; otherwise, finding a suitable one for Zhao’er would make a good match.

However, fewer daughters meant the sons of the Song family were all unmarried.

Unlike some top noble families, Princess Anping did not smile on the surface while sneering behind Song Ci, who came from a humble background. After all, the first Emperor of her own family also didn’t come from a prestigious noble background; they raised the banner in response to destiny, thus achieving the imperial cause.

What’s more, as a princess, she could see clearly that the Song family truly held significant power, and most importantly, they were favored by the Emperor. So, she could only seek alliance, not offense.

Princess Anping was truly a wise person; whoever the Emperor trusted, she befriended, aligning herself with the Emperor’s preferences. This was the way for a princess to survive.

So, the scene of Changping clinging to Song Ci and whispering together was a mixed bag of emotions for many observing.

The most frustrated of all were the Ji family mother-in-law and daughter-in-law; Princess Anping’s behavior was practically like a public slap in the face. After all, before Song Ci arrived, she was just maintaining a mild demeanor; where was this current warmth?
