The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 615: Chapter 615: Taken a Fancy to the Song Family’s Child

Princess Anping guided her daughter all the way until they entered the Princess Mansion and returned to her main courtyard.

”Weren’t you attending the Dowager’s banquet? Why are you back so soon?”

Prince Consort Su Tongzhan was lounging on the Arhat bed by the window with a book in hand, beside him, a small table held a handful of roasted pine nuts and green tea, with fruit peels burning in the hearth, emitting a faint fruity aroma.

Seeing her, he put down the book and stood up, intending to help her remove her cloak.

Princess Anping smiled and said, ”You just sit, it’s snowing heavily outside, I’m carrying the cold, let the maid serve me instead.”

With that, she went over to the fireplace to warm up, letting the maid remove her cloak. After warming her hands for a while, she went to change clothes and freshen up, and only then did she sit on the Arhat bed, take the tea handed by the Prince Consort, and start chatting.

Outside, Princess Anping treated others with noble grace and warmth, speaking sparingly yet making them feel perfectly at ease, but among her own people, she was a chatterbox.

Once she started talking, she couldn’t stop, complaining incessantly about the banquet, expressing her speechlessness and disdain towards the Ji Family.

Su Tongzhan only spoke when she paused to drink tea: ”I heard from colleagues that the backyard of Earl Anle Mansion is somewhat chaotic, but better than Earl Liuyang Mansion. Now, listening to you, it seems there’s more to the story?”

”More than I can say in a few words, a girl like that, anyone would be unlucky to have her,” Princess Anping sneered coldly. ”Yet they dare to dream about our Qing’er and Zhao’er.”

Su Tongzhan was astonished: ”The Ji Family?”

”Indeed, they boasted about their children as if they were unparalleled, almost made me die laughing. Such fools dare to imagine!” Princess Anping felt nauseated at the thought of Princess Consort Ji and that Mrs. Ji attempting to matchmake.

Su Tongzhan frowned and said, ”If Princess Consort Ji wants to matchmake and pleaded with the Emperor to issue an edict, then Qing’er and they...”

Princess Anping’s eyes widened as she slapped the table and said, ”She wouldn’t dare!”

She respected her as a Dowager only for the sake of the late Emperor and Prince Min, but if she really dared entertain such unrealistic notions, she would absolutely tear off her face.

Did the Ji Family dare dream about her two children with such a broken place?

However, when it came to her children’s marriages, Princess Anping looked at the Prince Consort and said, ”There’s no rush for Zhao’er, but Qing’er is already fourteen this year. Prince Consort, we need to start planning early for our daughter’s future.”

Setting it early is good, to avoid any changes or disasters like arranged marriages in the future.

”Do you have any preferred candidates for a son-in-law?”

Princess Anping’s heart warmed, and she said, ”Today I saw Madam Song, she was very charming and straightforward, not one to be bound by convention. Her eldest grandson, the son of Prime Minister Song, is fifteen and not yet engaged, and I hear he has great demeanor.”

Su Tongzhan laughed: ”If you’re eyeing the Song Family, I advise you not to think about it.”

”Why?”

”The Song Family is already flourishing; looking at the families her two daughters married into, they are all noble and eminent, and his youngest brother also married a Commandery Princess. One could say the Song Family’s in-laws are all prestigious, having already a Commandery Princess as a daughter-in-law, another Commandery Princess, and still a Princess’s daughter, that would be too much,” Su Tongzhan sighed, ”The Emperor would not agree.”

No Emperor would be willing to see a minister become too prominent, no matter how much trust he placed in that person.

It’s not about anything else, it’s just about an Emperor’s Heart Technique.

Princess Anping felt as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over her, chilling her to the core.
