The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 613: Chapter 613 I Have a Poem

A little farce ended with Song Ci’s so-called forgiveness. She knew when to stop, and finally, as if nothing had happened, she offered a poem to express her apology.

”Naturally, as everyone knows, I am just a farmer’s wife, and it’s a great fortune to know a few words and understand some principles. Writing poetry is beyond me,” Song Ci said with a smile. ”This poem I recite was created by a great master whom I came across by chance in my youth. I thought it was lovely, so I memorized it. I see it hasn’t been revealed to the world, so shall I promote it on behalf of that master?”

Commandery Princess Shou Ning smiled and said, ”Madam, may I write it down for you?”

Song Ci nodded with a smile, ”Then I’ll trouble the Commandery Princess.”

Commandery Princess Shou Ning then took the rice paper and ink from the table, rolled up a sleeve, and looked at Song Ci.

Song Ci beamed, looking outside the warm pavilion. Coincidentally, it started snowing again.

”It’s snowing.” She pointed to the snowflakes landing on plum blossoms and looked at Commandery Princess Shou Ning, ”The title of the poem shall be ’Ode to Snow.’”

Commandery Princess Shou Ning raised an eyebrow and began to write.

”One piece, two pieces, three or four pieces, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten pieces.”

The crowd: ”...”

Is this a poem? Just counting numbers?

What master writes a numerical poem, unless Madam Song is covering up for herself by saying it’s the work of a master.

A few young ladies, including Ji Suqin, rolled their eyes in private.

What rubbish poetry.

But while some doubted, those truly talented savored it carefully and even looked out of the warm pavilion following Song Ci’s pointing.

”Thousands, then ten thousand pieces, countless pieces, vanish among the plum blossoms, never to be seen.”

The crowd was stunned.

Outside the warm pavilion, countless snowflakes gently fell into the plum blossom forest, this harmonious and profound imagery instantly drew everyone in.

Miss Sun clapped her hands, her eyes bright, ”Brilliant, truly brilliant. This poem seems plain at first, especially the first three lines, but the fourth line instantly elevates the whole poem to a peak. It’s concise and intricate, blending reality with illusion, with a fresh and unique mood that is quite refreshing.”

”So poetry can be written this way? Madam, who is this master?” another young lady asked curiously.

Song Ci reminisced, ”He, with the surname Zheng, given name Banqiao, let’s call him Mr. Kerou.”

Commandery Princess Shou Ning, upon hearing this, added the name and title after the poem.

Song Ci, seeing this, silently apologized in her heart, Zheng Sir, I’m promoting it for you, not plagiarizing it.

Commandery Princess Shou Ning, after the ink dried, displayed the poem for everyone. Some, seeing the snow outside the warm pavilion, recited it again and found the poem even more distinctive. Inspired, they also composed two poems using numbers.

Song Ci: ”...”

Ancient boudoir talented women are truly impressive. Some are genuinely talented, seeing their burst of inspiration makes me feel ashamed!

Princess Anping smiled and said, ”Madam Song indeed hides her talents well.”

”You’re really overpraising me, I can’t remember much. Isn’t it that this poem is catchy and easy to remember?” Song Ci whispered, ”If you ask me to remember the difficult ones, I can’t recall them.”

Princess Anping pursed her lips and smiled.

They laughed happily, while the Ji family, including Princess Consort Ji, looked as if they had swallowed something foul.

You see, if you had such a poem, couldn’t you have just said it directly, rather than causing trouble before?

This is clearly a slap in the face, isn’t it?

Princess Consort Ji gritted her teeth in anger. This banquet was truly troublesome, if she had known, she wouldn’t have invited this old lady Song Ci, causing discomfort for herself and letting the other side shine.

What’s more depressing is that this incident at the banquet will surely reach the Empress Dowager.

Thinking of the possible reaction of Empress Dowager Wang, Princess Consort Ji felt a headache!
