The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 612: Chapter 612: The Prime Minister’s Mother is Not to be Trifled With

Saying it was just a misunderstanding, but remained seated without moving, without a trace of apology on her face.

Song Ci chuckled softly; this was very much like Princess Consort Ji.

If it were someone else, granting her a favor might have allowed the matter to slide, considering the other party was the Dowager, a member of the Royal Family, with a son who is a legitimate Prince, a genuine son of the former emperor. Who dares to oppose the Royal Family?

By rights, Song Ci, merely an Imperial Decree holder of the first rank, should also give her this face. No matter how high your decree is, you are always a level lower under the imperial power.

But did Song Ci play according to the rules?

She did not!

If it were Princess Consort Ji herself, a Royal daughter-in-law, admitting some fault might suffice, but the opposing party was only her maternal family. Should she give face to her maternal family just because she gave face to Princess Consort Ji? If her maternal family’s juniors step on her face, should she still smile and say it doesn’t matter, and even let them step on her right cheek?

Forget it! Her status is an honor brought by her son. If she doesn’t enjoy it, it would waste her son’s filial piety. Letting some nobodies slap her face, wouldn’t it also be slapping Prime Minister Song’s face, slapping the Prime Minister’s Mansion’s face?

This is absolutely unacceptable!

The Royal Dowagers are hard to provoke, and the Prime Minister’s mother is also hard to provoke!

Song Ci instantly put on a dramatic act, showing a seemingly helpless yet not daring to confront expression, pretentiously saying, ”Lady, your words are too harsh. How could this humble woman deserve it?”

Princess Anping listened and felt a bit uncomfortable, worried as she looked at Song Ci, ”Madam, you...”

Song Ci smiled gently and shook her head, ”Princess, you need not say more. We both know, those ignorant of hierarchy are those who ignore propriety and integrity. And Lady, you are one who understands the greater good, how could you not know what hierarchy is?”

Princess Consort Ji was lifted high with praise, her expression eased a bit; well, she recognized the situation.

However, catching sight of the expressionless sneers on the faces of the various madams around, her heart skipped a beat, feeling something was off.

Madam Ji seemed relieved, showing a bit of smugness. No matter how noble you are, Madam Song, aren’t you still a head shorter in front of your aunt? Princess Anping saw this and was inwardly disdainful, what a group of foolish people unable to present themselves properly.

Having watched the show enough, she followed Song Ci’s words and bowed slightly to Princess Consort Ji, ”What Madam said is reasonable, it’s my own haste and urgency; I ask for your forgiveness, Lady.”

Princess Consort Ji: ”...”

It feels like they’re putting on a show, but this princess doesn’t even know what on earth this plot is!

Song Ci displayed a benevolent expression, earnestly saying, ”Lady, don’t blame these juniors. What do they understand at such a young age? They’re immature, and their courage has merely evolved to the point where they’re rushing to flaunt. Isn’t it because they are young and don’t understand the vastness of the heavens? What malicious intent could they have?”

The crowd: ”...”

All have long experienced Madam Song’s skill in earnest nonsense!

Song Ci sighed, looking compassionately at those kneeling on the ground, ”We have all been young once. At my age, a little grievance is no harm. After all, I’ve one foot in the grave, not many years left. Arguing with a few young girls is of no consequence. So Lady, don’t punish them on my behalf. They’re just children; they need to be taught slowly.”

The crowd’s thoughts were of ironic laughter, lamenting grievances while loudly berating others?

Excuse my straightforwardness, your grievances seem a tad exaggerated.

Princess Consort Ji glared at Song Ci, as if this old woman were possessed by some spirit, spouting such blatant truth!

Just about to speak, she saw Song Ci gasping in surprise.

”Why are you still kneeling, stand up quickly. Truly, I’m not blaming you,” Song Ci walked over, making a show of helping them up.

Ji Suqin and others retreated on their knees, eyes filled with fear.

Old witch, go away!
