Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Indestructible Flashing Bluestar (SSS-Class, Active Skill): Once activated, it summons the spirits of Flashing Bluestar to fight for you. The quantity and quality of the summoned spirits depend on the host’s level and remaining stamina! This skill was created by the former Flashing Bluestar Sequence Number 1 with unparalleled power, integrating the souls of the Flashing Bluestar’s fallen. When the host’s strength reaches Level 10, it will awaken the Flashing Bluestar Sequence Number 1 residing in this ability.

This ability was obtained by Sun Ruixing in the Flashing Bluestar treasure land and was passed to his daughter, Sun Xuewei, by Wen Yu after Sun Ruixing’s death.

The skill description is incredibly domineering, yet there is a limitation within it—the quantity and quality of the summoned spirits depend on the host’s level and remaining stamina!

In other words, this is an ability whose effect is based on the host’s strength, similar to normal skills.

If the host is weak, the summoned spirits will also be weak. Just like now, with Sun Xuewei’s physical fitness at Peak Level 6, she can summon only a Peak Level 6 Flashing Bluestar spirit at most. Having already summoned once, her stamina has significantly dropped, so the second summoned Flashing Bluestar spirit’s physical strength doesn’t even reach Peak Level 6...

In the eyes of Shen Zhongzheng and three other military elites, this is truly just a joke...

Amidst the sound of gunfire, the newly appeared spirit raised a heavy shield and, struggling against the hail of bullets, pushed towards Gunfire’s position. Although the second summoned spirit is weaker, being defensive-type, it is more durable.

Seeing this scene, Gunfire snorted disdainfully, quickly merging the dual guns into a uniquely shaped short gun.

”Fire...”

”Boom!”

A highly concentrated fireball erupted from the muzzle, instantly smashing into the spirit. Flames burst forth; Sun Xuewei could only vaguely make out a humanoid figure struggling and wailing in the fire, then disintegrating into silver light spots in a short time.

Then, Gunfire raised the short gun, aiming at Sun Xuewei’s heart.

Living people were boring... Firing while things were heated was Gunfire’s belief...

So at this moment, Gunfire’s eyes widened with fury, the malevolence and savagery at the corners of his eyes almost unconcealed.

”Die!”

”Boom!”

The trigger pulled, bullets left the chamber...

However, the development that followed did not proceed according to Gunfire’s script.

...

Everything in front of her seemed to slow down drastically; waves of mortal fear surged. As the palm-length bullet drew nearer, Sun Xuewei’s mind became clearer than ever.

”Am I going to die... Looks like... I’m going to die...”

The situation was clear as day; this shot, Sun Xuewei had no chance of dodging it. She could only watch as the bullet came closer... and closer...

Until a pair of hands suddenly appeared in front of her!

The hands were long and filled with a sense of power. The palm-length bullet was gently caught by the large hand, as light and powerless as a drifting feather. The large hand clenched, and Sun Xuewei could only hear a muffled ”bang” sound, followed by a slight blue smoke from the hand. When the hand opened again, only tiny metal remnants were left.

”Huff... huff...”

Sun Xuewei didn’t even take a close look at the shadowy figure who had suddenly appeared. She just sat on the ground, gasping for air, grateful she had escaped the clutches of death. Only when her breathing calmed did Sun Xuewei look up towards the front.

In black clothes, back turned to her, his entire being showed no hint of strength—a person seemingly ordinary. Yet, after the bullet-catching scene just occurred, Sun Xuewei understood it was only an illusion due to the vast disparity in power.

However, a new question arose.

”Who is he... and why save me?”

”Lord Sequence Number 2.”

Alongside this question arose respectful greetings from Gunfire and Shen Zhongzheng.

”Sequence Number 2... Wen Yu...”

Past memories began to surface.

...

There was no talk of ”Do you know me?” In this world, as long as one was a Level 6 professionist, no one would be foolish enough not to know Wen Yu’s name or appearance—you never know when you might bump into Sequence Number 2 on the street. Chat a little, and perhaps Lord Sequence Number 2 might offer a grand opportunity—hope is always good...

Wen Yu was well aware of his reputation. At this moment, he scanned with Perception Ability the face of the woman behind him.

”Hmm, quite familiar, should be the woman named Sun Xuewei.”

Wen Yu couldn’t quite recall—so much time had passed, and he had only met Sun Xuewei once. If Sun Ruixing miraculously resurrected, Wen Yu would surely recognize him at once, but Sun Ruixing’s daughter...

Have you ever heard the saying, ”Out of sight, out of mind”?

If not for noticing the indestructible Flashing Bluestar (SSS-Class, Active Skill) summoning the Flashing Bluestar spirit, Wen Yu might have already forgotten he had any connection with the woman behind him...

Oh, come to think of it, I seem to have promised Sun Xuewei to help with a couple of things...

As past interactions with Sun Xuewei began to resurface in his mind, Wen Yu’s expression remained serene. After a while, he looked toward Gunfire and Shen Zhongzheng in front of him and then at the short, plump man holding the space ring.

”Where is the item?”

”What item?”

Neither his superior nor the Sequence Number 2 present was someone to be trifled with. Perhaps pretending to be dumb could get me through this...

Shen Zhongzheng thought and played dumb.

As a result, his skull shattered, brain matter splattering everywhere. Wen Yu lightly flicked his fingers, and a force sent Shen Zhongzheng to hell.

”The item is here, Sir.”

It turns out the perceptive ones excel everywhere. The short, plump man hurriedly stepped forward and handed the space ring to Wen Yu, the wrinkles on his face resembling a chrysanthemum: ”Sir, there’s a small seal on it, the Esoteric Level skill upgrade scroll you want? It’s in here...”

With the black light flashing, the seal on the ring set by the short, plump man was forcibly broken. Wen Yu’s gaze swept the space ring.

A large pile of daily necessities, female products, food, water, magic crystals, etc., were all neatly organized. In the center, a scroll emitting a faint glow met Wen Yu’s eyes.

Taking out the scroll, the notification in his mind clearly told Wen Yu that the mission had been completed. After placing the Esoteric Level skill upgrade scroll into his own space ring, Wen Yu handed the space ring back to Sun Xuewei, then looked at the distant Gunfire and the nearby short, plump man.

”So, tell me, what’s going on here?”
